The problem with these woke idiots is they think Fascism is the problem. We don't have a Fascism problem in this country, we have a Marxist/Communist/far-left problem and that's not even debatable.

By continuing to push the "OMG! FASCISM!" agenda, it allows them to take focus off how far left the left is actually moving.  Everyone should remember that even if we did have a "OMG! FASCISM!" problem in this country (we don't), Fascism only arises because the left has gone so far left that the pendulum has swung.  Historically, Fascism has come about as a response to Communism.

I have never seen a single episode and with that attitude I will not. Producers and show runners should just shut the fock up about their personal opinions. I am literally NEVER going to watch anything where the person tells me about their politics. I am just not interested in that. People who insist they are going to bash republicans or democrats really truly believe that their viewpoint matters more than others.

Life cycle of shows like the boys, LOTR, star wars, etc...

Creation:

1. Annoument of new series fans go crazy

2. The director and producer announce they don't like the source material.

3. Race swapping and interviews about "modern audiences"

Pre-Release

1. The show isn't made for you.

2. If you don't like it don't watch it

3. The bad person is Trump

Show run:

1. Why aren't people watching

2. If you don't watch you're an alt right bigot.

3. Please watch our show

4. Cancelled.

As for those who accuse the show of being too political or being "too woke," Kripke makes it clear that they have no intentions on holding back – but he does have a suggestion for those folks. "I clearly have a perspective, and I'm not shy about putting that perspective in the show. Anyone who wants to call the show 'woke' or whatever, that's OK. Go watch something else. But I'm certainly not going to pull any punches or apologize for what we're doing," Kripke explained.

The question I have for those of us who want to watch something else. What is there to watch that hasn't been taken over by box-checking, pandering waving, woke garbage?

I watch YouTube.  I watch people's channels that I find entertaining.  Some are people building houses (construction so to speak), building cabins in the middle of nowhere, cooking, baking, model railroads, baseball videos, things like that.  If at any point, someone chooses to make politics or social constructs a part of their show, I stop watching.

That's pretty much all I watch too.

I was a fan of the boys entering this season, but this season is WAY, WAY too political.

A little bit of politics would have been all right, but this is turning into a political drama almost every episode.

Every major plot line revolves around one political party or person against the other side, even the president verse VP.

Haha The Boys must make cultist uncomfortable because it forces them to watch what moronic, needing a daddy, cucks they are.

Season 4 has been outstanding.

Yeah, it's clear you can tell what side of the aisle Kripke is on.  He's not even hiding it.  He could have at least been even-handed about it but nope, can't do that.  Quite brazen to build up all this goodwill over the previous 3 seasons and then think that gives you cart blanche to push your agenda, as if that is what your audience was asking for.

Finished the first 3 episodes and debating if I should continue to watch.  There will be one more season after this one.

Which parts are you referring to specifically? I watched the first three episodes and feel no differently about the show

(edit: aside from them making frenchy bi…)

i believe that we watched season 1, but haven't gone further.  i do not remember profound wokeness, but then again, i do not seek it out one way or another

If anything, while watching the boys first few seasons I felt like they were almost poking fun at systemic wokeness. For example the super hero company just being like “well we need another black or Hispanic dude” “oh, the white girl is a lesbian? Let’s lean into that!”

I guess their choice to make Frenchie go gay instead of being with the Asian chick so far in these new episodes could be seen as an extra push to have gay and bi characters.

Yes, specifically that. I also feel they're going heavy against conservatives with firecracker and all that.  I mean for the first three seasons they were setting it up as some kind of romance between him and The Asian girl.  It made no sense to make him gay. One can only conclude that it was shoehorned in there.

Maybe it's me.  I did watch episode 4 and I will probably finish the entire series cuz I'm not a quitter!

I have not read the comics so I have no idea how this all really played out.

I generally respect your opinion as one of the few level headed people on this forum. So I’m curious when you say it’s become too political do you mean that in a sense that the creators are pushing their own political agenda? Or just that the plot of the show has shifted to a political theme?

maybe I just don’t care enough to see it but it has kind of just felt like a natural storyline with a “supe” possibly becoming president.

Neither have I. Someone suggested the show because I am a fan of Jensen Ackles even though he’s barely in it.

the odd thing is I usually get annoyed and easily see the woke crap. Like umbrella academy for example when it wasn’t enough to have the trans actor playing a character, they had to make the character trans as well in season 2. 🙄

I never really got annoyed with the boys because everything is so satirical. After season 1 or 2, gun to my head I would have said the creators of the show were more conservative and making fun of heavy liberals. But obviously that’s not the case.

I don't think everything in the world needs to be about one political party fighting against the other one and that is what they are doing with starlight/firecracker as the main theme through first 3 episodes. I have not watched the latest episode because i am just not in a rush to watch this show anymore.

I think that politics barely affects us in our day to day life and yet the media tries to make it out to be the most important thing in the world.

The problem is the media is good at their job and getting better. Just look at this forum and how many posters were barely political 10 years ago and now they absolutely hate everything about the other side, not saying any names, voltaire, but there may be an example here or there.

I don't want that same mentality to filter into TV shows and I am not that interested in this show anymore. I will watch it when i run out of other stuff to watch.

They diverged from the comics, butcher should have killed homelander last season. Who knows what happens now.

That is fair and it's why I asked you to expand. If your assessment is that you dislike politics as a main theme to the show, I fully understand and would likely agree, because I also agree that for most people, politics barely impacts our day to day lives. Although as someone who has only watched the show and not read any source material, the themes from the first few seasons such as Superheroes being akin to social media influencers, everything being scripted, being products owned by a company, manufactured not natural and how much control or influence they should have over military etc.. doesn't leave me surprised that politics has become a theme.

I was curious if you felt that the creators were blatantly pushing one side of politics or not.

I think it is obvious that they are pushing the liberals as the good guys. They are making the more sympathetic characters have liberal issues, like abortion, and the more jerky characters they are portraying as conservative, ie firecracker.

But even if they portrayed both sides equally, i am just not that interested in a show that is about conservative/liberal fighting. I probably open only about 1% of threads in the geek club anymore. If it wasn't for the last dynasty league i would probably just bail completely.

I will very rarely pop into a political thread. Recently made a few posts in the debate / biden is senile threads but I don't get bent out of shape over politics like most here seem to.

After I posed my last question to you I did start to do my best to think of the show as a political agenda push and I immediately figured the "good guys".. Butcher, MM, Frenchie, Hewie, Starlight, Yumiko, etc were the "liberals".  The true villians... I'd really only put Homelander and Stormfront in that category would be the conservatives :dunno:.. kinda?   All the other superheroes are just narcissistic dicks but they all have moments of redeeming qualities, specifically Maeve although then I guess you could argue shes the bi-female.

But I could also see the super smart black character and what she is doing stoking the fires and intentionally causing turmoil for an end goal as a jab at BLM.

Perhaps the firecracker stuff has pushed this new season over the top.

As a fan, I am not sure these things yet outweigh the obvious satire in regards to token minorities in the workplace (as part of the 7), making fun of social media reliance in general, the storylines that ARE solid, the shock factor scenes and generally good acting. So maybe I am trying to hold onto that.

I don't care for the Frenchie storyline in this season but the rest of the show has been good.  The accuracy of how they portray the extreme right is spot on and hilarious.  Their portrayal of the media is also great.

The effects in that show are so good, twice in the last episode I got a little squeamish watching some of the gore.

Again. Was a fan seasons 1-3 when the political commentary was muted and they seemed to take jabs at any and all sides.

by season 4 episode 4 roughly, the show has jumped the shark. It is now non stop with a manufactured abortion storyline, direct references to libtard, the conservative vote. Last night there was a Jan 6th reference. The regular storylines have taken a backseat.

i'm not going to argue accuracy... the issue is, as someone who doesn't get dragged down in ultimately pointless political nonsense, I preferred watching superhero satire (with subtle political satire). It was well acted, had good storylines, gore, shock value, unique take on superhero's being manufactured, in it for themselves, a-holes, and seemingly jabs at all sides of the political climate....

The whole abortion plot is so dumb. It was like oh yeah, lets throw something about abortion in here so we can show conservatives calling her a baby killer. Just an "oh by the way, hughie knocked up starlight and she had an abortion sometime between season 3 and 4".  Had it been a true storyline where we see starlight realize shes pregnant, not sure how to tell hughie or if she should, the two of them debating bringing a kid into crazy Supe world, etc... I would respect it way more.
