And ... here we go again with a Colo. Baker not accomodating all patrons

Recommended Posts

It funny how they always find the owner who doesn't want to pander to their sickness.

Hmmm....it's almost as if they are seeking them out with lawsuits in mind. 🤔

I think the baker should counter sue for discrimination.  He's being targeted for his religious beliefs.

I believe the Attorney/plaintiff has structured this intentional challenge in such a manner that she will prevail.  The previous ruling in favor of the Baker was on a narrow point and premise and this particualr set of facts shows that premise to have been factually inaccurate.  In the end this will not overturn the earlier case, it will only serve to clarify it.  As for the Baker, I don't know how he stays in business with his litigation costs.  I know much of his burden is taken up by advocates with an agenda and so his costs are minimized, but still, this seems exhausting.  i would recommend he give up his store and that he only takes Artisan Orders on Special Consignment.

This is just flat-out discrimination. He doesn't want to bake a cake for anyone who is LGBTQ.

Yeah, that’s just dumb. Operating a small business and then getting politically or religiously uppity is certainly a decision.

you’re in business to make money. Want to go be political? Get into politics.

How hard is it to go hang around people that like you and leave others alone? I go to visit friend's places, such as their homes and businesses, and vice versa. I don't go frequent places where I don't like the people.  "I'm suing you for not being nice to me!!" Whatever. Grow up.

It's such a rough world having someone say they won't bake you a cake.  😆

Well, think about it. I'm guessing he doesn't want the business. In my early days I worked with chefs who were total assh0le bltches. I hated them but I made money waiting tables or slinging drinks at the bar. They often had some some pretty bad comments about some of the customers and welcomed them to choose to stay away and not come back. Most people will hide their feelings then curse them out after they leave. But to each their own.

Who knows? :dunno:

So the complaint is that the intent of the colors of the frosting are irrelevant and that the baker should be forced to bake the cake for the customer or be found guilty of discrimination?

You sure seem to find it difficult here on a daily basis.

Its stupid that he has to bake the cake.

Its also stupid to run a business of service and turn down things you don't like.

The fact that this is going to court is the stupidest.

I’m sure this guy interviews potential clients to make sure they’re not divorced / remarrying and that they intend to have kids, in keeping with his Christian faith. 🙏

I dont have a real side of cake guy situation.

Its just funny whenever muslims pull a religion card, people are just like ok we will leave it alone.

Maybe not you.  But happens all the time.  Muslims get a pass with religion.  Perhaps people are afraid they will blow something up if they don't leave it alone.

It's definitely a form of harassment.

I would think a person wouldn't have standing because it's CLEAR they deliberately did it.  This wasn't some innocuous meeting - the plaintiff was searching places out to sue.

Baker seems like a MAGAMOOK. But if he wants to be a bigot POS, he's more than welcome to refuse service. His business, his choice. And those he refused service to have every right to call him out for what he is, write bad online reviews, encourage boycotts, etc. On the surface it seems like the attorney suing him picked this fight intentionally, which is also fine.

Freedom rules.

What if a religious group walked into a shop unknowingly ran by a person of "pride".  And the group wanted it to say "Christian Latinos for heterosexuality" for an event they were running.  And was turned down?   Would it get the same legs?

It will all get down to if the judge is a liberal bltch with an agenda or not. Sad really.

Yeah. Bigger. Only the customers would be charged with a hate crime.

That wouldn’t happen, those flags have pride crap everywhere, to easily notice, and no Christian would want to make it an issue.

Just move on now.

It would be discrimination based on religion (or probably race too) although I don't know why a gay or lesbian baker would have an issue with that.

It's a hypothetical.   We probably cant answer it without a clear example.  But we can go out on a limb as to if it would get as much attention as this or not.

My whole point for much of this stuff....discrimination....racism....is if we are going down this path lets keep it consistent.  But yet, it seems like there are always different rules for different groups.  What is racist for some is not racist for others.  What is discrimination for some is not for others.
