Agreed, although I would want some period of work/paying taxes under a work visa before getting a green card.

While it's true that our green card process needs a lot of work, the original proposal strikes me like a typical liberal one where they didn't think about the unintended consequences.

I tend to agree, but wouldn't a green card mean they are paying taxes and giving them a chance to start a permanent residence here, I think this is what we want, qualified people filling jobs that are needed?
