Probably not “showcased at an international event,” but that seems to be straying from the topic that they fought for people’s rights to be free to do that. Are you suggesting there weren’t whores and trannies in the 1920’s?

Nope, I never suggested as much.  I suggested trannies were not remotely in the contempation of the men looking up at Pointe du hoc.  many of them likely were thinking on wives, mothers, and girlfriends, adn certainly a few were remembering whores.

Perhaps you should have addressed Hardcore Troubadour then rather than acting as if you and i had a fundamental discagreement on the matter.  we actually were and are about 95% in agreement.

I was addressing him. You responded. I simply disagreed with your statement that the soldiers could not have conceived of trans- they could have if they had bothered because of its prevalence in the Western Europe of the 1920s. Of course I agree that the vast majority wouldn’t have bothered. And you and I agree on the rest of it.

Its "prevalence"?  GTFO.  You're revising history, as usual, to make things sound more abundant then they actually were so you can make excuses for today's trannies.

There weren't "trannies" as we know them today. The term "transexual" didn't exist in the 20's and wasn't coined until 1965.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/2016/05/10/the-speedy-evolution-of-the-term-transgender/

The term "transgender" was first recorded in print in 1965 in Sexual Hygiene and Pathology, a book by Columbia University psychiatrist John F. Oliven.

Why anyone cares about the olympic opening ceremonies or what a kicker thinks about anything astounds me.

I am trying to picture some intrepid soul approaching one of the few remaining members of the Greatest Generation and asking them whether as their landing craft were approaching Utah, Gold, or Omaha beach they were fighting to keep the world safe for drag performances.  Democracy, sure.  Religious freedom, sure.  Opposition to ethnic cleansing, absolutely, but public drag performances at a showcase world event, I can't get there.  I get that such is a freedom, I simply maintain that this was not their purpose, just a collateral matter, an incidental, benefiting from their general purpose.  Struggle to make something more out of this if you will while I head up to the mountains to run some whiterwater.  Gore canyon today.  I am more than a bit old for that run, but I would not be me if i did not undertake challenges at the far reaches of my abilities.

It is deniable. And debatable (though I agree it shouldn’t be because I wish people would trust the medical experts on this.)

Medical experts acknowledge that there are an astounding number of mental health comorbidities associated with trans people.  You of course think that this is because some people are mean to them sometimes, but the experts don't say that.

Also, if your brain thinks you are a different sex than your body, that is a mental health issue.  We as a society merely have decided not to call it that, because it has negative connotations.

You keep referring to “showcasing at a world event,” but it seems a common opinion here and elsewhere is to equate any tranny as a violent groomer.

Yep.  Literally main reason it was removed from DSM is perception.

No, Drag Queens were also called transvestites, but neither term is nor was synonymous with transexual.

My sister is very Liberal - annoyingly so.  I just talked with her about the Opening Ceremonies to get her take, and her response was “Total shitt show.”  She’s very much pro-diversity and pro-LBGTQIA+-!, but said it was way too much and over-the-top.

When the Left starts losing someone like my sister, you know the pendulum has swung way too far.

Anyhow I loved the whole fashion show thing. Right wingers get easily triggered don’t they? Why are you guys so terrified of drag?

Why are you so insistent about it?

I wonder how @The Real timschochet would feel if the Olympics mocked Muslims.   Maybe dress up PedoMuhammad as a tranny or something like that.

The left are a bunch of cowards.  No way would they ever do that with Islam.  They do it with Christianity because it's a peaceful religion (nowadays).

What a bunch of pvssies.

One of our current Olympic wrestlers previously mocked Muslims and when I made a thread about it I was told by the GC that he was “correct.”

We're not talking about individuals.  We're talking about the organization running the thing.  If you can't make that distinction that's on you.

Good point, actually in my thread I was more disappointed in the NCAA for tweeting it out.

Nope. I just love drag shows. Always have. I think they’re hilarious. I went to the RuPaul show in Vegas; it was great.

If it’s not your thing that’s fine. So long as you don’t persecute people and try to pass laws against them. That’s my problem with your side.

You're fine with them mocking one religion but heaven forbid we mock a homo or tranny you lose your mind.  F off.

Both Christianity and Islam deserve mockery from time to time, IMO, because they’re the two religions that have most tried to force themselves on others, with horrific historical consequences. That doesn’t mean they should be persecuted, ever, but some level of mockery is fine.

In this country white Christians in particular deserve a little mockery, especially the evangelicals and right wingers, because they always of late act like victims, and they have never been anything but the ruling class in this country.

But don’t worry Christians; Trump promised last night that if you vote for him in this election you’ll never have to vote again.

That doesn't sound like what a dictator would do, does it? 😀

This is no different than a white person wearing Black Face. I don’t understand how liberals can see one is great and entertaining, but the other is racist.

This is the worst answer in the history of answers:

1)  It would never happen because when you mock Muslims the Muslims kill people and burn sh*t down.  See Charlie Hebdo.

2)  Because of (1) no authoritative power will ever mock Muslims.

So you're being disingenuous.  And once the Muslims started going apeshit over PedoMuhammad being mocked, you'd side with them and say no one should mock Muhammad.  You talk a good game but we all know the truth.

Quote
In May, speaking at a National Rifle Association gathering, Trump quipped about serving more than two terms as president.
He referred to the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat, the only president to serve more than two terms. The two-term limit was added after Roosevelt's presidency.

"You know, FDR, 16 years - almost 16 years - he was four terms. I don't know, are we going to be considered three-term? Or two-term?" Trump asked the NRA crowd.

3 terms would be fair. The first 4 years were hijacked by the resistance. I’ve been advocating this for years

By saying “also,” aren’t you acknowledging that trannies were in fact called transvestites?  Whatever they were called, my point was that they existed

There is no real documentation of what they were called or called themselves at the time. Yeah, they existed, but I doubt few viewed themselves as being what we refer to as transexual.
