I'm insinuating that ALL of Congress has no intention of upsetting the corupt apple cart that they are all in, are just letting Trumps tenure play out to keep him in the media (and idiots like you), focus and not on them.

LOL. Yeah, that's what happened.

Everyone's gotta get a haircut, we need to raise taxes, we need pro growth policy and investments, less corruption and waste.  Basically the opposite of what is happening now.

Only way the budget gets balanced is by serious spending and entitlement cuts to the military, Medicare/Medicaid, and Social Security, AND major tax hikes, like uncapping payroll tax contributions and closing tax loopholes.

Good luck getting any Congress or President to sign off on that.

The J. Edgar Hoover Building, the FBI's long-time headquarters in Washington D.C., is being permanently closed as the agency relocates its workforce to the Ronald Reagan Building, a move announced by Director Kash Patel in late 2025 to save billions and consolidate operations into a modern, existing facility, ending years of debate over the deteriorating structure.

Good start?

Good start?

It's actually not saving money, just avoids construction of a new building, but sure, any way to spend less money.

Their income tax?

We need changes to the tax system to get a higher effective tax rate for the highest earners that receive their comp via equity paid out via long term capital gains.

If you have a point make it and stop with the childish questions.  I'm not answering anymore.

I take nothing free. When's the last time you got a call at 6:30 in the morning when you weren't expecting to work in December in 15 degree weather to come into work and deliver mail and packages to 650 homes?

How is that getting something for free?

What heavy physical activity do you do for your job?

You a mail man?

So you want to tax capital gains as income. Me too.

He allegedly delivers mail. There is some question as to whether the last word really applies.

Can you show me?  There is no such thing as a loophole. A loophole would be finding away to work around a system to your advantage. Everything rich people do is written into the tax code law. They are following the system

I’m talking about tax dollars going out.  So you think there is not significant waste fraud and abuse?

I’m sure there is abuse. There is still abuse, there will always be abuse. The debt is up the same as it was last year. DOGE is classic Trump a bunch of bluster when you peel back the top layer of gold paint it’s just a tin can with some duct tape.

Well, duh. The loophole is that our tax code allows the mega rich to disguise their income and pay a far lower tax rate than the working class.

If you want to call it something other than a “loophole” go ahead.

There is absolutely waste fraud and abuse across all levels of Govt.  The goal of DOGE was not to eliminate waste fraud and abuse, it was to eliminate spending that Trump didn't like.  It actually generated more abuse.

If we ever get a president that is serious about cleaning up government waste, it could be done.

I didn’t say they pay less. I said in many instances they pay a lower rate than the working class.

For example, when  he ran for POTUS, Romney’s effective tax rate was around 15%. Seems unfair to me that his income is charged at a lower rate than most working class people because it comes from capital gains and investments. FICA taxes are also incredibly regressive.

You’re actual conversation started with a laugh and me saying there is no loopholes which you admitted. Yet here you are wanting people to be taxed on perceived gains that aren’t in realized until a sale. And you want them to be taxed on that every year?  That’s idiotic.

Yeah. I retired a few years ago but wanted to keep busy doing something but not sitting at a desk all day.  So I figured I would give it a shot. I basically fill in for people when they are sick or need time off.

Never cared for capital gains taxes either. It's the government acting as if they held your hand and told you to buy an investment that ended up doing well so you have to share with them. You save 'after tax' money and invest it, so that money has already been taxed once. Even worse is the idea being floated about taxing unrealized gains.
