This also kind of makes me wonder why CA (an all blue state) keeps denying laws to protect children between 16-17 from trafficking. Under 15? Felony. 16 or 17...meh....misdemeanor MAYBE. Literally dem voters not protecting kids from stuff like this; being purchased and trafficked for sex.

This is not correct. Here’s the law that was passed:

AB 379 (2025): Initially, this bill aimed to make soliciting sex from 16- and 17-year-olds a felony, aligning penalties with those for younger minors. However, concerns about over-criminalization led to the removal of this provision. Following public backlash and pressure from Governor Newsom, lawmakers reached a compromise: felony charges would apply if the offender is at least three years older than the minor, with added safeguards to prevent misuse.

What is over criminalization mean?  And what was Newsom fighting for?  Your quote doesn’t tell me what side he was pressuring?

I assume it would be for say a 19 year old having sex with an 17 year old girl since that language was added about the age difference.. The poster I responded to seemed to be implying that law makers were somehow encouraging sex trafficking in some underhanded manner.

Overcriminalization is in regards to laws which weren’t worthy of punishment. Protecting 16 and 17 year olds was considered not worthy of,punishment. I think that’s the point.

This law did that outside of this age difference. If people don’t agree with that distinction that’s fine. 

That is not some bullshit that lawmakers are refusing to pass laws and are instead protecting sex traffickers and that Democrats are in some cabal to steal children’s blood or whatever.

Just guessing the number of people who have both been to a Combs party and visited Epstein at one of his homes is pretty, pretty narrow, and it definitely includes Donald Trump.
