I didn't check this thread at all last night, just getting caught up.

Great debate. I think based on debate points, Vance won. He is much more polished and poised in a public speaking environment. But it was a lot closer than I expected going into the debate, especially after the early stupidity regarding the Tianenmen square lie. Walz nailed him to the wallz on accepting election results. Obviously I think Walz' policy ideas are way better, so on content, he was the clear winner, IMHO. 

I will say that today, RIGHT NOW, I would vote for a Walz/Vance ticket over the choices we have. These two are both superior to their running mates in decency, intelligence, and grasp of policy. While vastly different in approach, they both have more inherent leadership qualities than Harris or Trump (duh). I knew what I was getting with Walz, since I live in MN and voted for him, but came away really impressed with JD Vance the person/politician. If he could just dump the Trump/ MAGA insanity, he could be a decent president.

From what I have seen (very small sample)  

Vance is a much better option for POTUS than Trump or Harris.  Walz supports tampons for boys, I can never be okay with that

Good post.  Walz actually did better than I thought.  I think part of that is that Vance clearly wanted to stay above the fray and present a more "presidential" side.  Had he attacked Walz more directly, Walz might have unraveled.  Or not.

I found both extremely likable. I was really surprised by Walz but his lack of owning up to his tall tales about being in china was bad. Came across very awkward. It’s those fibs that he keeps getting caught with his pants down . Weird

When I was a kid we were told we were heading for another ice age due to global cooling. Never happened. Now we're supposed to believe the same "experts" when they say the world is warming and the polar ice caps are going to melt. Not going to happen. 

 

Walz himself said last night that farmers in Minnesota saw back to back 500 year drought followed by 500 year flooding. It's almost like these weather patterns are cyclical and the earth knows when certain areas don't get enough water at times so it deluges the area with a surplus of water to help mitigate the damage. Or when it starts to get a little warm, it kicks on the AC. 

Common sense dictates when nature sees a little too much of something, it naturally remedies the situation.

Dude, the ice caps are melting. Doesn't matter if you believe it or not. There is a debate to be had as to the largest factors contributing to it, I suppose. But the vast majority of experts say that CO2 is the main culprit. That doesn't mean man made CO2 emissions are the primary driver, but again, most experts agree that it is.

When the US military, a politically neutral entity, believed it and started planning for it decades ago, I feel like the public should believe it. I could even turn your common sense observation around. Weather patterns have changed noticeably where I live just in the past 25 years, so common sense dictates the climate is indeed changing.
