And there are two times as much "pro-Trump" content as their way "pro-Biden or pro-Harris" content there. Additionally, look at the amount of people here who share YouTube videos as fact when it is someone blowing up a singular quote to rant on it for 10-15 minutes. The biggest issue we have from a news source is we have allowed- in all forms and walks of media- for the line between opinion and news to blur to an insane point. Look at any of the 24 hour news channels. They are dominated from about 3pm on by personality driven opinion shows. Social media allows us to curate our timelines in such a way that we only see things that support our already held positions. This is all a problem because the general public isn't reaching out to learn opposing viewpoints, they are allowing the opposing viewpoints to be brought to them with a spin applied to it. There's no doubt that social media is just as bad. Yes I was referring to the older MSM. I'm old now myself at 50 so that's who I tend to think of. Somewhere along the way though we've lost our ability as a whole to distinguish between partisan talk and hyperbole versus fact. I know a 30 year old girl who is posting on X now about how she's encouraging other women her age to not date anyone who could possibly vote for Trump. She "almost" married one now is dating someone who voted for Harris. She's teetering on the edge from some of her tweets and I legitimately feel bad for her. She honestly believes that Trump is going to ban birth control. This is a college educated person who I personally know to be highly intelligent. I'm fine with people having whatever standards they want but my wife sometimes votes differently from me. When I was dating, I never considered who someone voted for. Now many people use that a a disqualifying factor. To me it shows where we've moved as a society in our self segregation, silos, whatever the proper terminology would be. Everyone on the other side is not some evil fascist or communist.

"journalists" which they obviously are not. And some actual journalists have allowed themselves to be a little corrupted by it. I've never sat and watched a full program of any of it- be it Gutfeld, The Five, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, Anderson Cooper, Abby Phillips (I've seen clips online of these things)....but they are not news programs. They tell you a story and then spend time arguing about their opinions on it and at some point it just becomes a blur of nonsense being disguised as news. I mean I've seen clips of The Five and it is literally just PTI for the news- who the hell wants that?

The problem becomes they are selling that they are "News" but they are offering takes. It goes back to the idea that they might not see what they are but that is how people see them. They are the most watched news network by far and you have people like my wife's grandmother who almost literally watches FOX News from the time she gets up until the time she goes to bed. I'd assume the numbers are huge in people like her. And for her it's all news, not opinion.

Meh, this is an overplayed hand. I did quite a bit of channel surfing the last few days. I do not watch cable news normally other than when there is a big breaking story. Between MSNBC, Fox News and CNN, the only ones even pretending to be news was CNN. They had a balanced panel, and they were being extremely critical of the Dems, deservedly so. First time I've ever watched a moment of Gutfeld. People think he's funny? His guests were fuking retards.

Also, it's not lost in that statement the condescension that kind of mentality would take. To think you're smarter somehow than everyone on the other side. I tested out pretty well in every test I ever took, but I'd be foolish to think some who scored higher than me don't feel differently than I do. But sadly I think you're probably right in the meaning. And it goes to the topic of media and their bias. I watched an hour of MSNBC yesterday to try to understand some of it. There was a whole lot of why people voted against their interest and they didn't know what was really good for them on one side, and racism on the other. So the inference is, you're stupid or racist, it's just that simple. And to be honest, it's what that type mentality would have to believe. Don't get me wrong, I know plenty of Trump people who feel voting for Harris is dumb. What I'm pointing out is that kind of mentality is dangerous and self defeating. If you live in that headspace you are destined for failure, in relationships or career. Well, unless you can get a job in an information bubble like MSNBC or wherever and then it might be a plus.

Frozenbeernuts 2,015 Posted November 7, 2024 Now that we have thoroughly established we can't trust the media, let's focus on 2 points. There were plenty of us who know the truth and had a good idea of how it went down. We may disagree on some issues, but are Trump supporters really trash? There was a lot of ethnic diversity at his rallys. The liberal media and shows are pushing Trump voters as trash still. They want division. Another point, look at Barack Oabama. His name literally was Barry Soetoro. The details around his upbringing are very vague, and he was probably not born in the US. Kamala has a vague upbringing as well. Probably not an African American by any standard. The left pushed these candidates with sketchy backgrounds, one who most likely wasn't born in the US. It's suspicious as hell.
