Trump should have the option to serve 2 more terms as president if he wants it.

Agreed.  Squiz isn't too far behind Trump in age.

Squistion has to be a woman.  I've never seen a male so scared of shadows.

He's a 75 year old that transitioned to a purple haired lesbian.  That's confirmed.

Only one more term.  But we should start carving out his place on Mount Rushmore now so it will be ready when his term expires.

Nah, put his head as the head of Crazy Horse. He will like it because his head will be bigger than George Washington and the leftys will like it because of the "Crazy" part of the name.

It’ll be that he’s 80 years old and not exactly the picture of physical fitness

Sure there was only 1 actual election, but the liberals put one guy up there and Trump has to deal with that one, THEN, "Oh wait, psych!! We were just kidding. Now spend your time focusing on this other one. Let's see how you do with that."

I just can’t figure out where all this noise was coming from.

Not an uncommon Maga viewpoint actually.

Says the guy who was ok with the Dems putting up a candidate who hadn't earned one primary vote in two Presidential election runs

Pfft, ask me and there should have been an open primary in late 2022/2023. But yeah 2024 was too late. I do think Vance is facing the same problem now, but who knows maybe they’ll open it up rather than just do whatever Trump says. We haven’t seen that in a long long time but hey maybe Trump will lose his thrall over them as a lame duck.

The fact that the Dems had to wait so long is a direct reflection on them deceiving the American public about Joe's cognitive decline so don't give me the it was too late crap.  And you didn't call them out for any of this then and you don't now.  You just make up excuses and run cover for them.  As I said, they're becoming irrelevant.

Eh IMO straight up a sick Biden was in all ways - education, experience, knowledge, cognitively, emotionally, character - a better qualified candidate than Trump. (Please I don’t want to debate that).

To me the primary thing you have a point on is Biden’s cancer diagnosis. Let’s just say I agree with you on that. I’m guessing you agree Trump now needs to come clean on his MRIs, diagnoses & cognitive results? Maybe like Biden we should also know what meds he’s on?

Don't change the subject.  The Dems shouldn't have allowed Biden to run again.  Then they could have had a candidate who earned the right to represent them.   Putting Kamalatoe up there without a single primary vote disenfranchised everyone who voted in the Dem primaries.  As the party always b#tching about disenfranchising voters this should concern you.  It's hard to take you and your party seriously when you ignore the fact that you disenfranchised millions of your own party's voters.

Actually the subject is Trump’s shadow campaign for a 3rd term, but I’m glad to discuss this.

IMO - & only that - the time to make that decision (as I did answer you above) was late 2022 up to mid 2023. In 2024 I think the thing to do was either stick with Biden (yes) or hand off to Harris. Obviously the 2nd option failed.

I was also trying to agree with you at least to the extent of the cancer diagnosis. To me the what/where/when of that is worth digging into, but Republicans have no interest in it. It’s a lot of Iranian style public flagellation for the Grand Ayatollah instead.

Joe shouldn't have ran again. But there is no "they", as in a group of deciders. Joe decided he could do it again. The incumbency is a big advantage, and he beat Don before. It was a reasonable strategy to run again. The people that work to get Dems elected had to work with that. Then the debate was a disaster, so dropping out was actually the better option. It was a cluster F, and the Dems lost. In 2028, the Dems need to stop trying to anoint a chosen few, let them all campaign and get a robust voting tallied.

What's awesome from a debate tactic POV is that in the thread titled "Trump should have the option to serve 2 more terms as president if he wants it", a guy comes in with the biggest "whatabout Joe Biden" ever and then tells the other guy not to change the subject 🤣. That was top notch.

Now that this question has (seemingly) been settled, I would like to add the thought that I personally think a President SHOULD be able to run for a third term, and a fourth, and as long as the people want him. Why not? I’m not a fan of term limits- we already have them with elections every 4 years.

Remember that the only reason two terms was written into the Constitution was because Republicans were pissed off that FDR ran for 4 terms. They ignored the fact that, if he hadn’t run again in 1940, there would have been no Lend-Lease and the Nazis win World War II. So if I had my way I would scrap that amendment. Just saying.

is the president the only position with absolute term limits?

I also don’t like that you have to be 35 and born in this country to be President. If a 26 dude from Japan or Nigeria or whatever would make the best President then that’s who we should choose. Throw out all these stupid rules.

I think so, federally. Of course states have their own.

I would give Supreme Court Justices a 10 year limit. Of course the President could then reappoint them if desired.

I would give SC 10 year 2 terms max

I would also give Senate 2 6 year, and house 2 4 year (they should cut this 2 year thing)

It’s two years so that the House is more devoted to pleasing the public whereas Senators are allowed to make their own decisions. I think the Founding Fathers were wise to do it that way.

But I strongly disagree with your other point. If the good people of Iowa want to keep electing Charles Grassley every 6 years why shouldn’t they be allowed to do so? Just because he’s old as fock and I don’t like his politics, too bad, that should be their right to decide.

The thing where Grassley rotely reads off of index cards presented by his staffers is pretty bad. McConnell freezing. Pelosi breaking her hip in a fall. There’s a lot finger pointing and maybe everyone ought to take a moment & think about reforms about limiting ages of officials, pardons, campaign finance & profiting from office. We just keep throwing rocks at each other.

There are mirroring videos of Biden being redirected off the stage by Obama & Trump being led around like a doterer by the Japanese PM. We have ‘you know the thing’ & cofeve & ‘I can tell a giraffe from an elephant!.’ We have a hidden cancer diagnosis & mystery MRIs. I mean…we have met the enemy and it is us.

Sooo… the repeated cognitive tests, the MRIs, the crooked walks, the gibberish about 1200% reduction in health costs, the public DM to his AG, being pushed around by his counterparts is…. a choice.
