What will President Trump do about the January 6 defendants?

Recommended Posts

About a year ago, he said that he would consider pardoning some of them on a case by case basis. At another time he said he would free most of them. He’s also said he would pardon all of them.

What will he do and what should he do?

He's gonna pardon a good chunk, as he should.  Hopefully he holds the small percentage that actually committed crimes accountable but if their sentence is excessive I'm fine if be pardons them too.

He is going to pardon EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!

And thank God!  They were the most railroaded and over prosecuted people in our nations history.  Completely effing disgusting.

Every one of them will be pardoned on Jan. 21, 2025.

Then he's going to get to the bottom of the involvement of the FBI and how they incited violence. He's also going to hold Nancy Pelosi personally responsible for denying national guard troops to the capital. He will also play the full speech where he explicity told the group at the capital to stand down.

Of course he will pardon all of them, even those who vicioucly assaulted Capitol Police officers.

Every single one will be pardoned and many of this forum will cheer that result (see jonmx). So much for "Blue Lives Matter"

You are one dumb MFer.  Not a single one of those assaults deserved more than a couple months of prison time.  The 900 plus who were imprisoned for simply trespassing deserve a multi-million settlement.   You are such a lying little cuck .  The whole event was a setup by the FBI, Pelosi, Harris, and thr leadership of the Capitol Police.   There are several Capitol Police who deserve to be in prison starting with the cowardly bastard who shot Ashli.

He should get a medal for stopping her from leading the mob into the chambers of Congress where they would have assaulted and killed any member of Congress or Senate they got their hands on. What do think they would have done if they got their hands on Pelosi, stop and ask for her autograph?

Not unarmed:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Ashli_Babbitt#:~:text=Some media reports described Babbitt, pocket" after she was shot.

Some media reports described Babbitt as "unarmed" at the time of the shooting, but according to a January 11, 2021, crime scene examination report by the D.C. Department of Forensic Sciences, the police "recovered a 'Para Force' folding knife in Ms. Babbitt's pants pocket" after she was shot.

This stance is total BS.  Do you not believe in the equal treatment under the law?   Do you not believe in legal precedent?  In any other circumstances, very few of these people would have ever faced charges.   Maybe 10 at most.   The government did not spend billions of dollars and using the majority of FBI resources in tracking down BLMers for every minor violation.  This was malicious targeted prosecution with the clear intent of chilling anti-government protests.  And in my honest opinion, which is supported by a ton of evidence, this was all a planned entrapment which they actually hoped was going to be far more violent than it was.

Doesn't matter.  You keep saying she was unarmed and that is a lie.

Fun Fact:

A pocket knife is a weapon and qualifies here as being armed.

Shoulder- back...I guess if you don't know anatomy they are the same thing. The cops retreated into an area. They barricaded that area. They told people they had guns and yelled for people to get down and back away. She continued to breach and was shot as a last resort. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I don't care how much she (along with the rest) was positioned as a martyr. She was doing something she wasn't supposed to be doing and she found out.

Also, don't pardon anyone- they were doing things they shouldn't have been doing and all of them went through court cases. You pardon them and you are opening floodgates for this stuff in the future.

Please explain what good chunk should be pardoned? Cite some specific cases of injustice where people were locked up for illegally.

Everyone (which is the vast majority) who was imprisoned on the fraudulant charge of obstruction of an official proceeding.  That charge has been thrown out by the Supreme Court as not applicable and yet numerous people are still in prison for this as lower courts drag their feet trying to figure how to extract those charges from the conviction.  One specific case was one of the most prominent figures, “QAnon Shaman” Jacob Chansley.  He wore the funny custom and was peacefully led by Capitol Police into Capitol chambers (probably because they know his image was a good propaganda piece) where he read a prayer.  He sat in jail for over three years much of it was unjustifiably done in solitary confinement as retribution for some of the legal arguments against the non-defunct obstruction charge.

Ethel Rosenberg might like a word with you.  And I’m assuming there might be a black or two who’d take exception with this assessment.

But , I agree many or most should be pardoned.  I mean, even if one agrees it was insurrection, don’t we live in a country born of revolution?

What do Russian spies have to do with protestors.  There was no revolution.  They did not being guns.  They brought their voices to be heard on what they considered to be an injustice.  That is as American as you get.  Only to be entrapped into entering the Capitol in which only a few actually 'broke' in.

She was already in the building, the glass was already broken and she was outnumbered 50 to 1 by armed cops in body armor.

Zachary Alam got 10 years in prison for breaking the window.  That along with the bogus obstructing an official proceeding charge.

Name the last person who go 10-years in prison for breaking glass.

She climbed through a broken window, if it was broken by someone else, she was still trespassing from a legal standpoint.

No, it is not.

1.  She was inside the building.

2.  Zachary Alam broke the glass.

3.  There were a several rows of heavily armed police inside the hallway which the door opened to.

Trespassing is not legal justification for shooting a helpless person from behind.   You make the fuking dumbest arguments.

You don't deserve to get murdered for trespassing.  Isn't that what you always say when a cop shoots a violent perp?

She was climbing through a window in a helpless position.  She was not looking at him, he snuck up on her.

Ashley Babbitt was not shot from behind. The Capitol Police officer was facing her and some people in the crowd tried to warn her to stop, yelling "He has a gun!"

If any other collection of people broke into a federal building and assaulted cops, Trump would be calling for the gas chamber. But they were MAGA, so he’ll pardon them all.
