Ten Dead And Thirty Injured Last Night In New Orleans

Recommended Posts

There are around 3.45 million Muslims in the United States. Unfortunately whenever an event like this happens they are all castigated as a group and looked upon with suspicion and distrust.

Are you advocating that no one with a Muslim sounding name should be allowed US citizenship?

I am. Yep. And we should deport ALL illegals as well.

So because she is black you immediately assume it’s a DEI hire. And incompetent because there is a contradiction in the initial statements (which, incidentally, almost always happens in these incidents.)

You are the one who chose to bring up race. Your statement is sad and, IMO, laced with bigotry. Which is surprising to me since I didn’t regard you as one of the bigots around here, Hopefully it’s a one-off.

Sorry, Tim, but you and your kind brought this upon yourselves when you've decided to make race the priority on jobs (and everything else) rather than qualifications and merit.  You've eternally doomed minorities now by forcing DEI (Didn't Earn It) on everyone.

This is the result of your side's push for this nonsense.  Now EVERY minority will be questioned.

You have no one but yourselves to blame.  Sorry.  You reap what you sow.

Yeah unfortunately this incident will likely increase Trump’s desire to remove birthright citizenship (although it’s possible the perpetrator’s parents were citizens as well).

LOL at skewering LE for not immediately making a terrorism claim. You think they're eager to make that announcement in a city hosting the sugar bowl tonight and the super bowl in a month? Obviously they don't want to create panic. STFU and let them do their jobs. Just because you have a sliver of knowledge about procedure doesn't make you "informed" about an incident you're nowhere near.

Very concerned as a coworker of mine is in NO right now staying in the French quarter. Haven't heard from her yet.

No. First off I’m not even in favor of DEI, never have been. But regardless, those who promote it are not responsible for the ignorance and bigotry of some of those who attack it.

I feel bad for you, Tim.  You can't even recognize what your side has done.  You just want to keep blaming others.

Again, this is the END RESULT of your side's push for DEI (Didn't Earn It) over merit and qualifications.  I don't know what else to tell you.  The truth hurts, but the truth you must face.

Then you’re an ignorant bigot. But you have the ability to improve yourself. You live in the greatest country the world has ever seen, with the greatest document in history, the U.S. Constitution, as its guide. Read it sometime; learn from it. You’ll be better off.

Sorry. People are responsible for their own bigotry. Just as they are responsible for their own actions.

Except when you wish to excuse those actions and advocate that the actions of persons are caused by externalities to that person.

Bigotry isn't questioning someone's qualifications when your side pushes race and victim status vs. merit and qualifications.   I'm not sure why you can't understand that.

Your side has basically put a bullseye on all minority groups.  It's the same as as Voter Id and your side saying "minorities and black people are too stupid to know how to get an ID".

You've brought this upon yourself.  When you lower the standards by pushing race and victim status over merit people will ALWAYS question that individual(s).  That's not bigotry.  That's common sense.

The man who drove into a crowd, killing 10 people and injuring more than 30 more, has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, according to a NOLA.com report.

Din Jabbar was reportedly killed in a gunfight with New Orleans police, injuring two of them before he was shot and killed.

The source who identified the alleged gunman said he was carrying an ISIS flag in the truck, NOLA.com reported.

You disagree that providing fraudulent paperwork would increase your chances of getting caught when you first need to drive 350 miles to commit your crime compared to say, “borrowing” a friend or family member’s crime?  You are welcome to your opinion if so, but it’d be wrong.

You’re the king of “I think the world works this way, so it must be so”.  Your inability to execute critical analysis is uncanny.  I guess you think the rental company would get the cops to chase this guy down like Jimmy chasing Kevin after he stole the toothbrush in Home Alone.

With most of these I assume mental illness by some sad piece of shlt who have convinced themselves this is justified.

We live in this free society where people can do pretty much anything you like - that includes losers, nut jobs, psychos.

Well, maybe mental illnesses, but on initial thoughts it sounds like he was radicalized.  Religious nut most likely.  I don't know if you classify that as mental illness or not.

Answer the question from my last post please.  If a criminal is planning to commit a crime 350 miles from their residence, don’t you think they wouldn’t want to leave a fraudulent paper trail that could result in them being caught before they commit the primary crime?  Yes, a lot of criminals are stupid, but a lot aren’t.

Yeah, changing the Constitution would seem like an extremely difficult thing to do - as it should be.  I don't see that happening either.

I guess the best they could do is prevent any pregnant women (non citizen) from entering the country.

If his ultimate goal was to kill as many people as possible then he should of rented an F350 instead of a 150.

Seems to be a bit of a disagreement on what exactly is a “terrorist attack.” Does it include lone wolf psychos or are we talking organized jihad stuff?

To me it makes sense to focus on the latter as the threat is potentially ongoing there vs isolated to the one attack with a lone wolf. But terror is the purpose for both so I can see why people would include those as well

To qualify as a certified act of terrorism, the incident must be committed as part of an effort to coerce the civilian population of the United States or to influence the policy or affect the conduct of the US government by coercion.

The key component here is the bolded.  Terrorism requires that the act be politically motivated.  Motive takes time to uncover.  There can be clues at the scene (like an ISIS flag) but it usually takes more evidence gathering before a declarative statement can be made.  In no circumstance should an FBI official say declaratively that something was NOT a terrorist event shortly after its occurrence.  Ever.  And they are trained on this.
