Does anybody still play Fantasy Football?

I was YUGE into FF in the early 2000's.  We would have draft parties and every weekend we all went to bars to watch the games.  It didn't matter if your team was playing or not because you had FF players from every team.  I remember how much fun it was because the internet was new and FF was new too.  It was so much fun and all the bars were packed with people just because of fantasy football.

 

This year I would go to the bars to watch Sunday Football and they were empty!  The same bars that were packed for so many years had nobody watching the games.

 

What happened?

 

I think part of it is that FF has lost it's appeal, but I think the bigger part is that the NFL got too woke with it's BLM  and "END RACISM" and hating on White Males that people like me said "FUKU!"

 

The NFL got WOKE and went BROKE and as a consequence so did Fantasy Football.

 

Today I will probably watch Seinfeld reruns and occasionally flipped over to the Super Bowl to check the score.  I will definetely pass on the half time show.  I heard it was rap cr@p.  YUCK!  I think the last good SB was Denver vs Brett Farve!

 I quit five years ago after twenty years. I used to say draft was better than sex when I was married to the ex C U N T. Auction draft in my main big money league (The New Orleans Enemas). Our trophy was a sort of a calostemy bag. Every year’s winner sign it. I commissioned our league for fiv years. When my cool Pops passed away I had to focus on our business full time and all the time. I miss playing, but glad I got out when I did.

I still play but it got boring with the increase in popularity of DFS as well as no one can think for themselves and just use the same rankings.  Even the FB Gays, ESPN, and similar sites barely deviate from ADP with their rankings.  No one has the balls to take a stand anymore.

Funny story.  

In one of my first drafts, I had a HOT date with a 10/10 but the date started after the 3rd round.  My brother was running the league so I told him I had to go and put my picks on AUTO DRAFT.  When I got home from the date I checked my line up and I had 8 kickers on my team!  WTF?  My brother was so mad that I left for the date that he hijacked my auto draft and gave me a kicker every round.  

 

The reason it's funny it that I ended up winning the league that year.  I think that is the definition of "Kharma".  God has a good sense of humor and punishes bad people for doing bad things.

Ive gotten out of main leagues or they folded.   I still do 2 token leagues.  I still like FF to a degree but it has lost much appeal to me.  Any dude who knows nothing can go get tips on who to pick up and so on.  Then it has just burned out with being able to bet on sports directly.   Used to be fun spending time analyzing fantasy info but now I have not as much time and it has felt like a hassle a bit.  God bless the people who still argue for weeks in the offseason if Jonathan Taylor is the 4th or 6th rb in the coming year.   I respect the love for it but its a ton of busy talk.   

The drafts are still fun.   I totally forget to do waivers several weeks out of the season these days.

I'm going to come clean.  I found this message board way back in the early 2000's when I needed FF advice.  I didn't sign up to post, but I read the board.  Some of the names you are throwing out ring a bell.  

 

I can remember a Rusty Springes, a Giants Fan, Monkey Death Car MDC, Jerry's Kids....I thought that dude was dying back in 2005'ish.  

 

Anyhoo....I remember a bunch of the old timers, but I never got around to signing up until now.

It's a age thing.  I used to be in 5 Football Leagues. 3 Baseball Leagues. A NBA League.  Even a Hockey League.   Now im in 3 Football leagues and thats it. Life happens.

But the young people aren't filling the void so it's not an age thing.  If it was an age thing the replacement would cover us old people.  The bars are empty and nobody is playing FF anymore.  Personally, I think it's the BLM riots in 2020 and the NFL going woke.  The NFL went WOKE and got BROKE! 

 

When you tell all the White males they are racist why the hell are they going to watch the NFL anymore!

As a white male myself.  I think it's a lot based on sports betting becoming legalized. Instant gratification.   Not any of your theories. Unfortunately in CA it's still not legal.

This + the fact that when I started in 2005, skill, or should I say the willingness to put in the work of noticing non-drafted players who were coming on 'before' most other teams noticed, gave you an edge.

Now, we literally have thousands of websites identifying those trends on a weekly/daily basis. A definite advantage for more passive FF managers.

As far as the OP, no, I don't play fantasy football anymore. I commished a league for 20 years and got burned out. 

I do, however, play fantasy NASCAR with a few local degenerates.

Probably the only thing I remember from Genesis is that God created Adam in his image.  That means that MAN was created in God's image.  That is why Man is the King of his domain.  Eve was made from one of Adam's ribs.  Therefore, women are just ribs.

I quit about 10 years ago but use to be very good at it, things change and do player props now and cool part of them you always have a player or more going in any game you want.

See, if you have the 8th draft pick in the first rd, and you end up with a player that has a adp of top five, first thing we know that’s a rookie league, secondly that’s a very good value pick, I’m HTH.  Welcome.  Keep up the great work.
