SB halftime show

Recommended Posts

If you do not care about the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar this was shittt. It may have been the worst halftime show I have ever seen.

Found this on a post online (just a cut and paste):

If you don’t see and hear all the messages Kendrick just sent to America I feel sorry for you.

1. Samuel L Jackson playing Uncle Sam aka the house ni**ga) like he played in Django.

2. Samuel L Jackson warning Kendrick to play the game white America wants us to play and not be “ghetto”

3. The Squid games stage which symbolizes the rich killing the poor.

4. The dancers in Red White & Blue representing the American flag

5. The stage also being a prison yard where his black performers harmonized while he rapped.

6. Protecting black women like Serena Williams after the disrespect from Drake

7. And once again reminding Drake and America
“They Not Like Us”

Y’all please this is bigger than rap!

First off, having a half-time show is a big fail anyways regardless of who it is.  Having rap as the half-time show just makes it so much worse.  It's such an awful genre of music for the most part.

Nobody gives two sh#ts about the half-time show.  Let's just get rid of it altogether.

Didn't see a second of it.  I never do.  Missed 99% of the commercials as well.  Only saw about 10 seconds of pregame stuff, Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews having a leg competition.  That was not sufficiently interesting to keep me tuned in as they were speaking.  Perhaps I should have muted the T.V.

I didn't care for it.  The music is fine but doesn't make for a good halftime show.  I'd like to see an actual band out there performing.

I'd like to see the game have the same continuity as have all the other games during the season.  Don't lengthen the halftime to put on a show which is not going to be well recieved by large portions of your audience.

Still, I get it.  They believe any press is good press and every year folks about or defend the show and that is what they are looking for.

I like Lamar but even most black people did not understand the show, if you have to explain it bit by bit to the masses and the people after the fact it missed the point. In fact most people still don`t know.

Another big issue was the sound, you could not discern the lyrics, whoever did the sound system botched it big time, as it was garbled and made him sound bad.  I knew some of his songs and it was difficult to hear and understand what he was rappin

Kelce is probably retiring so welcome Taylor Swift next season.

You pretty much have to be black for this show to have been viewed as anything less than a bomb. The black community seems to have loved it.

I am no half time show fan even for groups or singers that I like. And I mentioned it to my GF that even when I didn't like the music, I could see why people thought it entertaining. One of my favorites was Katy Perry and I don't even listen to her music. But it worked.

But this. It was like a musical based on the content of the show the X-Files.

Would have been great to have brought in Mulder and Scully in an office setting at the end being dejected that they couldn't fully prove that it happened.

I’m not being a doosh, but could you explain it? I’ve heard there was a lot of symbolism.

I think you're missing the target demographic.   My 18 year old son and a few of his friends already had tickets purchased to see Kendrick Lamar in st Louis this coming June.   My friend's 20- something daughter was over watching the game with us and she thought it was great.   My wife knew most of the songs because she is a high school counselor.

We are just getting focking old.

No. It's just that it's your family that are uneducated and out of touch.

Stop thinking all of America is like you and your kids. And that you are right. It's just sad.

Who is buying music?

It's not you, listening to the same CDs you had 25 years ago.

Well, my kids are 19 and 22 and when I mentioned the half time show, they both went, "Who?"  So, not sure the "target demographic" was the thing.

I don't know anyone who buys music anymore, kids or adults. Other than something like those of us who buy XM radio. Which includes a ton of different music. So however those contracts work in that industry, I have no clue.

I guess when I purchase XM I'm buying his music? But I don't listen to it. It's garbage. And I've liked some rap over the years. Just only the entertaining bits.

Artists aren't making money on streaming services.   They are making money on touring and merch including vinyl pressings.

What do you expect when you pay a pedophile millions to produce the show. Hopefully, the Diddy list comes out before the next act is booked.

I was told this show was against the “system” and diddy types . But if this was against the system why have Samuel L Jackson, he’s a card carrying member of the system. I kind of feel like this was a psyop with a psyop

They loved Lamar and the music. I like Lamars music but even that was tough to hear.

The show missed the point as even the blacks had to be explained what it meant after the fact, and rightly so as it was a halftime show that nobody knew what it was about, not a 2 hour movie that you knew and had time to develop the story line.

Some sissy rap beef gets 20 minutes of air time.  If these were real g’s they’d throw hands already.

I tried keeping the vinyl going for a bit when it was pooped out and had a bit of a nostalgic comeback in the form of vinyl stores. I still have all my equipment but no longer partake. I think vinyl makes a revenue of a couple billion in the global market. That's a small % of the overall.

But it's cool. As far as touring, people who like going to concerts, just go to concerts. If he's the hot name, people will go. The marketers and producers of the shows these people put on are the what makes the name. This guys music won't last. But if he's making money hand over fist, good for him. The people behind him are the one's who deserve the big bucks. I'm sure they are getting it.

Next year they need a Trump Rally at halftime.

That would only turn off half the people instead of 85 percent of them

I have all kinds of different stuff.  Just perusing my random playlist and thinking of what I have on vinyl, in my collection you could find Dr. Dre The Chronic, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Alt-J, Tom Petty, Glass Animals...

Thinking of the next couple I might look to purchase, I'm in desperate need of a Tool album and would like to add something from Sturgill Simpson.
