Hardworking Americans speaking out against Republicans

I read stories of regular people flooding doge with emails, signing them up for spam, etc.

Anyone that thinks this was a legitimate request for information is dumb.  This is just harassment and intimidation.

How many people that got fired from government jobs do you think were living paycheck to paycheck?

The people that I've read stories about a high number of them.  I know the narrative is that govt employees all get paid millions while sitting around watching Netflix but this couldn't be further from the truth.

Won't they be able to get unemployment?

Unemployment doesn't provide full salary, sometimes you get nothing if it was based on performance.  Unemployment also runs out

Some of Trump’s own appointees telling their employees not to answer. Including Kash Patel FBI director.

What a clown show. 🤡

So... they would get paid while looking for a new job.

I don't know how the media is treating any of these people differently but anyone that loses their job is a shame, especially people that live paycheck to paycheck.

I know how.  That's why I asked the question.  If you don't have an answer, that's fine.

No, I don't think they are going to read them all, how could they?  They could maybe come up with some AI program to check that they wrote something.

The article said that they should copy their managers.  Perhaps their manager will read it and, I dunno, act like a manager and discuss the activities with their employees?  And if that person consistently accomplishes nothing, maybe rethink the need for that person in that position?

In the past, when you've been asked to provide status, did you think dang, they're trying to get me to quit!

Probably not, because you probably actually did stuff.

The Left needs to grow up in this country.

Over the weekend the president posted a spongebob meme while Musk stumbled around a stage with a chainsaw high as a kite.

But yeah the left needs to grow up.

Trump’s numbers have gone down, but not to a number that should alarm his supporters. @Hawkeye21 is correct that it’s early yet. He and @jerryskids and @supermike80 are also correct that the public isn’t going to have a problem with the DOGE cuts, despite the haphazard way they’re being done: people like efficiency efforts and they’re willing to tolerate job losses to get there.

That being said, the public WILL eventually turn against Trump if prices don’t come down, and if they start to rise that will be sooner rather than later. Trump has some time here to accomplish this but if prices are still high a year from now Republicans will likely lose the House Majority, possibly the Senate as well.

And there will be backlash over these DOGE cuts IF they start to directly negatively affect the public. So far that hasn’t happened, but it could.

What are you talking about it hasn't happened?  It has happened and those people are talking.  If they continue then more people will talk.

It’s happened to a few people. I was referring to the public at large. If large numbers of people are not able to access government services they use regularly, that sort of thing. To my knowledge that hasn’t happened. There are terrible anecdotes sure but most of the public won’t care unless it happens to THEM.

Why did Biden hire so many people in such a short period of time? Was there a great need across the federal government for many more employees?

They have until tonight, at midnight.  So, IF they got in to work today on time, they would have 16 hours to complete the task.  Do you need more than 16 hours to tell you boss what you did last week?

DOGE is a “contracted organization.” HTH.

1)  The e-mail came from OPM, which ABSOLUTELY IS a government agency:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/elon-musk-doge-federal-employees-document-work-resign/

2)  My understanding is that  DOGE is a commission within the executive branch that was originally created by Barack Obama, and Trump simply renamed it.   Which would make it a government agency as well.  If you've got something that says differently I'm willing to read it but I don't think you do considering you didn't even know what organization sent this e-mail.

When I was working, for my whole career, I sent out status daily. For myself, my team, my overall functional and technical area, including my vendors, the business, all of it. With numerous logical data points that make up status for the project.

All groups would talk through the current status of open defects, open issues, ETA resolution dates, etc...every morning. Daily status meeting.

If I, or anyone else assigned to be point on their areas were unable to do this effectively and efficiently, No more job.

People only struggled if they don't know what the fock they are doing.

See my link above. Some of Trump’s own appointees are telling their agencies not to reply.

In the past when I’ve been asked what I accomplished last week, that question has come from my manager. I’d be pretty pissed to get an email on a Saturday from an outside consultant telling me to reply by noon Monday or I’m fired.

That seems to be the point of what Elon is doing.

Despite its full name, Doge is not an official government department, which would have had to be established by an act of Congress.

Instead it came into being through one of Trump's presidential executive orders, and operates as an advisory body with at least four employees dedicated to each government agency.

You can look up the Wikipedia entry.

The email was sent by OPM at Elon Musk’s direction.

I am good friends with a federal employee.

She got her email and said that she's tempted to "just not respond, because fock this administration." Claimed that "in four years, I'll get my job back and then get back pay for four years."

I imagine that's the attitude of a lot of them; if they care so little for being employed, then okay.

I guess I've been asked for YEARS to document my weekly/monthly work, document how much time I spend on certain tasks, etc. And I just do it. Who focking cares? Document it, maybe it's being used against me, maybe it's being used to find efficiencies, whatever. It's been sent to different consulting firms or third parties to hash out, and it never bothered me.

If you can't put into 5 bullets what you did last week because you're being a cry baby about who asked for it...then I am not sure what to tell you. Private sector does this ALL the time....but it's Elon and "we hate him" so now we take our ball and go home? Fock having a job, right?

I've never gotten an email from someone outside of my company over a weekend asking me what I did last week and my lack of reply was a resignation.

If you can't see how that's messed up then you're the problem.

Also yes status reports are done all the time even for federal employees which is why it's even more egregious to get this email.  If an outsider wants to know what I did last week, ask my boss.  They know.  I know what my employees did last week.

You keep trying to make it sound difficult to tell someone in charge what you did last week.

These idiots who are whining are those who are useless and need to be booted.

Anyone remember the time when everyone on the left loved Elon and his electric cars and were talking about how much of a genius he was?

Yeah me too. How times have changed in the span of 3 minutes. 😂

I hope your friend follows through and gets canned.  Sorry if that sounds callous but if she wants to fock the government of the United States she can go fock herself.  And if I were her I wouldn't bet on getting that job back in four years.

I have a fairly high level I.T. job and we meet daily for a 15 minute team "scrum" where we discuss what we've been working on, what we ARE working on, and what road blocks we're running in to in achieving those goals.  It's really not uncommon.

Also, I've heard that this is something Elon has done at other companies of his.   It's also called a "heartbeat check' in that it verifies that the person even really exists.  If they can't even respond to an e-mail are they even really a productive member of the team to begin wtih?

I hope she’s just venting. Thinking she would be entitled to back pay after four years and her job is a serious sense of entitlement.  They aren’t asking much. A fockin e-mail saying what you did? Good riddance if that’s too much.

Trump derangement syndrome.  I used to chuckle at that concept but now I see it is very real.   Willing to give up a good job and risk a lot, just to say "fock this administration"

Absolutely amazing to me.

People seem to have an issue with WHO asked for this information. Again, if it came from Biden, no one would be batting an eye. OR....if it came from someone other than Elon/Trump with the current admin, they probably wouldn't be biitching.

Your friend is wrong about getting her job back along with back pay, but I don’t blame her. If I got an email from a company I didn’t even work for asking me to justify what I did, followed by some foreign billionaire saying I’d be fired if I didn’t respond on X, I’d probably want to quit too.

Why do you keep mischaracterizing who sent this e-mail.?  OPM is the HR department of the federal government.  If I get an e-mail from my HR department I respond to it.  If you work for the federal government OPM is your HR.

Wrong again.  If Biden did this I would be just as offended an disappointed.  You assume too much without knowing what you're talking about.
