Thanks. No doubt I argued with him about it myself at one point or another. But IMO it’s just another of a score of examples of how maga isn’t really conservative or traditionally Republican. Because that used to mean defending American as a beacon for liberty for the rest of the world.

I remember when that beacon of liberty lied to us and we invaded another country. No thanks.

Interesting analysis since my first ever vote was for Ronald Reagan and I remained a Republican well into my 40s.

That doesn't sound right to me.

Don't have time to research it, but from an AI overview:

Yes, generally, under Fidel Castro's rule, Cuban children were raised by their parents, although there were instances where families were separated, particularly due to political reasons or when parents emigrated. The Cuban government did not actively remove children from their families to raise them, as some rumors during Operation Pedro Pan suggested. However, there were cases where parents were separated from their children when they sought to leave the country, and the government denied them permission to rejoin their families.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Parental Rights:
The Cuban government, while socialist, did not inherently deny parents the right to raise their children.

  • This CIA-backed operation involved transporting unaccompanied children from Cuba to the United States, primarily from 1960 to 1962. While some parents did send their children to the US for safety and better opportunities, others were worried about the safety of their children in Cuba, and others may have been targeted by the regime due to their beliefs.

  • Family Separations:
There were instances where parents who emigrated were denied the right to have their children join them, leading to family separations.

  • Individuals who left Cuba without government permission were often denied the right for their families to join them, leading to prolonged separations.

  • Rumors and Misinformation:
During Operation Pedro Pan, rumors spread, particularly by the CIA, that the Castro regime was planning to remove children from their families for indoctrination. These rumors were largely unfounded, but they fueled fears in the US and among some Cuban citizens.

Well, I'm not so sure America is a beacon of liberty for Americans anymore, let alone the rest of the world. Not after Covid.

But I still think the right is welcoming of anybody who wants to come here the right way, assimilate and contribute. We just have a problem with illegals and that hasn't changed.

Yeah. Sure. And I voted for the hate filled racist Obama, crooked Hillary, and pedo Joe.

Good one.

No you couldn't have argued with me, as I didn't join the FFA until 2003 (3-4 years after the Elian matter was in the news)

I honestly can't remember what I was saying at the time. I believe I felt that his "family" here was exploiting him for their own gain and returning him to his father seemed the right thing to do.

In any event, I don't feel the Elian Gonzalez situation (which was a one-off outlier) is analogous to Trump deporting a 2 year old and breaking up families.

Of course not. Because you're a hypocrite, like I said.

If you go into a country illegally, anything  that happens to you after that, is all on you.

Seems to be me you were saying that, your exact words from above:

Cuba under Fidel didn’t allow parents to raise their kids.

If they weren't allowed to raise their kids, then they would have to have been removed, no?

Only you would get a pickle for a human trafficker.  Oh BTW, Trump now has your side of the aisle cheering for this guy, that's gonna be a real winner.  Let me know if you want to take some action on how this court case is going to play out

So, we’re not deporting people who are here with no legal alien standing?

Yeah this is probably the key takeaway here.  The sheep thought we actually asked Bukele to send him back previously; lol.

Exactly.  Another L for Trump.

And to think the maga are spinning this like a win.  This is exactly what we have been saying.  If he's a criminal, bring him back and charge him, or give him a deportation hearing and deport him.

What you can't do is send random people to an El Sal prison, especially those that have orders not to be sent there.

Now we get to see what kind of case the DOJ has.  My gut tells me it's pretty weak.  It's a clown show.

He's not a human trafficking rapist.  Innocent until proven guilty.  Law and order.  Constitution.  Respect the courts.  America.

This is a win for all of us, a loss for authoritarianism.

He's an ILLEGAL, who cares?

Mr Abrego Garcia has acknowledged entering the US illegally in 2012, according to court documents.

In March 2019 he was detained along with three other people in Hyattsville, Maryland, in the car park of a Home Depot.

Officers at the Prince George's County Police Department said the men were "loitering" and subsequently identified Mr Abrego Garcia and two of the others as members of MS-13.

No no, they’re right, Hitler is just doing what the courts ordered, as Hitler would do.
