Do you all sleep well? Poorly?

Recommended Posts

I've been pretty lucky most of my life.  As long as I am laying down, it takes me generally less than 15 minutes to fall asleep and I sleep deeply.  7 to 8 hours a night.  If I happen to wake up to pee or something else, I can easily fall back in bed and I am out again.  It's a blessing.

My wife can maybe sleep 4 solid hours..Maybe..She's a light sleeper and wakes up quite a bit.   I could sleep through a tornado I think.

How do you all do with this?

Generally pretty good.  I stopped drinking pop for the most part a while back, and focked up recently and had a couple diet cokes in the evening and that messed me up that night. But for the most part no issues get between 7.5 and 9 hours per night.

I used to sleep like a log. 8 hours straight (at least) with no problem.

These days I'll sleep for 4 to 5 hours and wake up. It will take me at least 2 to 3 hours to fall back to sleep if I ever do. Most days I'll just get up if I'm still awake at 2:30 AM. No sense dozing back off when the alarm goes off at 3AM.

I once fell asleep at a Guns N Roses show. When I'm tired enough, I can sleep through anything. The problem is getting to sleep as a night owl that has to wake up by 5:30 at the latest for work. I normally only get 5-6 hours because I have a tough time shutting my brain down at night (insert joke here).

My sleep patterns are like the economy, cyclical. It took me a while, but I finally figured out why. Exercise. When I do enough of it, I sleep well, when I don't, it's similar to what 5-Points stated above. I'll sleep for 2-3 hours, wake up, & not be able to get back to sleep for 3-4 hours.

JFC I could never. I'd rather still be awake at 3 than just getting up. That sentiment extends to at least 5:00 or 6:00 am.

Have you always been a night owl, or is it something you developed for some other reason........ worked nights in the past.............?

If you're implying I'm a prostitute....

How did you find out?

Nah, always been a night owl, even as a young kid that couldn't sleep past 7:00. One of my crowning achievements as a kid was learning how to sleep in. I might be an underachiever.

I have worked second and third shifts, but it's not conducive to seeing my kids. Wish I could work like 10-6 every day, that would be perfect. Stay up til 1 or 2, still get 6-7 hours of sleep.

I sleep much better when getting sunlight. Winter focks me up. And this rainy spring has been no help.

LOL..... A guy's gotta do what he's gotta do to put food on the table!

I'm a night owl as well. 10 to 6 would've been great.

My problem is when I wake up my brain starts going, thinking about work, usually, but it could be anything. And once that starts, it's hard to shut it back off and get back to sleep.

If I had a job working from home where I could work whatever hours I wanted to it wouldn't be a problem.

 But I don't. :wall:

"Sleeping in" on the weekend is like 5-5:30 AM

But I'm done with work during the week by 1PM most days. So I have all afternoon to fock off.

I can generally fall asleep in seconds when I lie down.  I get about 6 hours a night, always up really early, can't sleep past 6:00.  During the summer I'm up around 5:00 no alarm.

Got to bed around 11:30. Wake up at 8:30. Poop by 9:30, depending on whether I've solved Wordle yet.

Then you start getting  because you know you need to get back to sleep and you wish your brain would just shut off long enough to fall back asleep and that just exacerbates the problem.

I haven't had a good night sleep since my dog died and was so use to her sleeping next to me. Only time I do now is when I drink a lot. When I don't drink I go on two hours sleep for the day.

Sometimes it helped to do a crossword puzzle. Yeah, I know it sounds weird.

I always heard drinking warm milk and counting people you want to punch in the face helps too.

Alcohol ruins a nights sleep for me now. Especially beer, and more specifically craft beers. When deciding whether to drink, I now factor in what kind of sleep I’m going to get. Vodka, good tequila or 1-2 glasses of bourbon affect me the least. Those are my go-to’s now.

Usually between 6-7 hours for me a night, have no problem falling asleep. I’m going on a camping trip next month in California, I’ll sleep maybe 3-4 hours a night then.
