Wife and I were in NYC last month; we rode the subway all over Manhattan (and once into Brooklyn).  Never felt remotely unsafe on the trains or in the stations.

Though ultimately I disagree with you, I think this is a much stronger argument than “This is a Hate America rally run by Antifa” which the Republicans are going with, predicting violence, etc. That may seriously backfire.
