And he can feel free to do what he wants regarding taxes or property claims on self-loathing rich/upper middle class white liberals. Putting aside all the stuff that doesn’t really matter because it won’t ever happen, I wanted to talk about one of Mamdami’s leftist ideas that according to polling is really popular among NY voters: rent control. 

It doesn’t work. Santa Monica has had it for 40 years. Here’s what happens in a nutshell: tenants never leave. And there’s lots of corruption: tenants with deep pockets claim poverty, then sublease the premises for double or triple the rent. The landlord is helpless. 
 

This is an example of a socialist idea that simply works against what it’s intended to do, (Actually I believe that’s true of most socialist ideas.) It’s why I could I never be in love with this sort of candidate; I’ll only support leftists if my alternative is a Trumper.

We've been telling you, for what seems like decades now, that Socialism has never, ever worked and there's not one country in the world, past or present, where it has.

I'm all for leaving those ideas dead and buried in the scrap heap of failures in history but Mamdani and the far left are the ones trying to resurrect them.  To promote the idea that government dependency is desirable is a dangerous thing.

That's what the Marxists told us in the early 90s when I was in college. I'm sure Mamdani has learned from his 100 predecessors' failures and will get it right on the 101st attempt. Hopefully it works this time. Personally, I like the idea of sitting on my ass all day playing video games, while being showered with free stuff.

Every wanna' be Communist thinks he'll be the one to "get it right this time".  Every one.  The hubris and gall to assume that Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot and a whole line of other despots just didn't do it right and you'll do it better is off the charts.  And THAT is what makes them so dangerous and ends up with tens of millions of dead bodies, chaos and destruction.  Each one becomes even worse than the last guy, despite claiming they're going to do it right THIS time!
