Top Biden aide admits to Congress she directed autopen signatures without knowing who gave final approval

Recommended Posts

If Biden was coherent, why didn't he just sign the documents.

We have no idea who authorized the signatures.

Simply focking crazy.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/politics/top-biden-aide-admits-congress-she-directed-autopen-signatures-without-knowing-who-gave-final-approval.amp

A former top aide to President Joe Biden said she was authorized to direct autopen signatures but was unaware of who in the president's inner circle was giving her final clearance, according to a source familiar with the aide's closed-door testimony in front of Congress Tuesday.

Neera Tanden, the former director of Biden's Domestic Policy Council, testified for hours Tuesday during an interview in front of the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating the former president's mental acuity and his use of an automatic signature tool that allowed aides to sign pardons, memos and other important documents on Biden's behalf.

During Tanden's interview before Congress, which lasted more than five hours, she told lawmakers that, in her role as staff secretary and senior advisor to the former president between 2021 and 2023, she was authorized to direct autopen signatures on behalf of Biden, an Oversight Committee official told Fox News. The system of approval used, according to Tanden's testimony relayed to Fox News, was inherited from previous administrations.

But Tanden, who said she had limited interactions with Biden, described an approval process that left her in the dark about who specifically was giving final approval on the decisions to use the automatic signature tool, sources told Fox News.

Tanden testified that to get approval for the use of autopen signatures she would send decision memos to members of Biden's inner circle. However, she added that she was not aware of what actions or approvals took place between the time she sent the decision memo and the time she received it back with the necessary approval.

It's kind of sad that you don't find this an issue.

For hypothetical purposes, I wonder what the reaction would be if Trump just randomly handed the autopen to people?

I mean, this woman was an appointed aide; it'd be like Trump giving the autopen to Elon.

I anticipate we get the standard liberal response of "we aren't looking back"  or "we only care about the future" to attempt to avoid accountability for the criminal enterprise they tolerated.

Liberal doctrine : Commit the crimes today because it will take a while to be found out since the media is with us, and later when it comes out, pretend it old news.

I'll give a rat's ass about Biden and autopens when MAGA - instead of obsessing about Biden, autopens, five-year-old riots and trannies - expresses an ounce of outrage over a narcissistic convicted felon and morally corrupt a-hole sitting in the Oval Office and causing worldwide chaos and hardship.

But I guess Fox News continues to tell you what to think about.

After a post like that. I fear his next move is wrapping himself up in a pride flag. Chopping off his d!ck. And drinking a gallon of antifreeze.

Dude went to school as a kid. Thought he could be a journalist. Failed at that. Tried selling insurance for a long time. Then became an old cat lady. All the while, for the last 25 years, just whining and ranting all over this site. This is his identity.

Antifreeze is an option..

From the Right it would be that he's the greatest delegator of authority in Presidential history and that he's owning the libs by doing so.

From the Left it would be the worst thing in the history of the world.

So what's the gotcha here?  Random people got EOs, laws, pardons signed that Biden didn't want and they went around him by using an autopen?

Yes, they have.  I infer from your statement that you then have no issue with how the Biden admin used it?

Stop inferring anything in my statements. It inevitably ends with those inferring looking like idiots.

Given who is making the stink about it (Trump) I will reserve all judgment on the autopen stuff until more information is available. At first blush, I don't have a problem with it being used. But I wanna know more about who was making the decisions. If it wasn't Biden, there's a problem.

I think this lady flat out saying she didn't know who authorized her to sign; she had limited contact from Biden and had NO idea where the approval came from is proof enough that there is a problem here.

MY guess is that they picked someone that was kind of obscure, out there without many connections to Biden. The limited contact was a plus. So she signs something with the autopen and when she's asked questions there's a LOT of confusion.

It's planned this way, IMO.

If she were to KNOW who gave the authorization, they'd go right to that person and get answers. This way will remain unsure and take MUCH longer for committees to find out.

Just so long as I understand, and I clearly do.  The liberals on this forum, and perhaps many more elsewhere, continue to pretend there is nothing wrong with what transpired.

I do not believe these people deserve you defending them.  Too many times you all have defended them and then later the truth eventually comes out.

You do you.

Understood, Apologies for inferring, just trying to see where we are on this.

Unfortunately, suggesting Trump is somehow wrong when he has been correct in cases such as the Hunter laptop (when Democrats and media allies lied) or regarding Russian Collusion (proven to be a Clinton-funded lie the media propagated).  So perhaps he has more cr3edibility than the Democrats or media in general.

That aside.  I would not put it past a group of people who sought to get him elected and  “He just had to win, and then he could disappear for four years – he’d only have to show proof of life every once in a while.”  I think the potential that he was not approving the things his people auto-penned has some credence.

I don't have a problem with that autopen thing as long as the person who's signature it is, knows exactly what's being signed, when, and why.  Biden clearly had no idea what's been going on for at least the last 2 years of his presidency.  There is a 0.0% chance he knew what was being signed.  I have no doubt that the party had unfettered access and used it without Biden's knowledge.  That's the issue I have.  Biden was the President, fine, as much as I didn't like him, it was still his job.  He's the guy who should've been calling the shots.  But, he wasn't.  That's the problem here.

I don't watch CNN, and it was kind of hard to avoid Trump in the news with all his post-election sore-loser whining, empty boasts about how things would have been different under him and last, but not least, the 90-plus felony charges and 34 felony convictions that MAGAs continue to refuse to accept.

Biden is quiet these days, but MAGAs can't let go because, like a dysfunctional person who hates still waters and thrives on conflict and drama, they're addicted to negativity and refuse to let go of their topic obsessions.

Sad.

When the previous administration is getting caught red handed not only lying but committing fraud along with treason you kind of CANT ignore it. But losers such as yourself think “it’s in the past! Just let it go!” Meanwhile, YOU specifically along with the rest of the far left dug through everything you could of Trumps personal life, changed laws so you could charge him with crimes he didn’t commit, raised the charges from misdemeanors to felonies, and wouldn’t take testimony from the supposed institutions he “scammed”. Don’t get me started on the blatant false allegations yall made up  But yea, Trump & the conservatives are the ones who are obsessed with the past.

Pathetic

Trump is right, he didn't sign the act when it was written in 1798.  Do you have evidence that says otherwise?  I'd be very interested in that.  Someone should be on top of that documentary.
