Are you proud to be an American?

Recommended Posts

Yes, extremely proud. Especially of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights: our system of government. Featuring checks and balances on power, and most importantly, a weak executive.

One of the things that makes me the most proud about being an American is that pride in being an American is not required.

Well, I dunno about that...Seeing the negative reaction to someone not sayiing the Pledge Of Allegiance or kneeling during The National Anthem is a pretty good argument that some shows of "pride" are expected/required or one will face negative consequences (see Colin Kapernick).

Yes, I am proud to be American. I always have been, even as a child. I am one of those that gets weepy when the National Anthem is sung or played

I could see that if it is done properly and beautifully, however, there have been many that have tried to make it their own and it was disgusting...

Oh yes, I don't like it when people do that; add their own "stuff" and flair to the song? Or sing it terribly on purpose ike Roseanne Barr, no.

It's actually meant to be done as a march, not a big old song.

I wondered why there was no link for this and as I suspected the OP is misleading

It is not true that only 36% of Democrats are proud to be an American.

The poll asked: How proud are you to be an American? There were 5 choices given

1) extremely proud

2) very proud

3) moderately proud

4) only a little proud

5) not at all proud

It turns out that 36% number of Democrats refers to those who said they were "extremely proud"

The OP makes it appear that 36% of Democrats said they were "not proud at all" and that is not what Gallup found.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/646655/american-pride-remains-near-record-low.aspx

I'm not misleading as I never got the information from the link. I just found that link when I posted it here. So go fock yourself. I got the information from Fox News on TV originally and I posted all they said. Fock off.

The negative reactions are from people who don’t understand what it means to be an American. But that’s their right (to be stupid) and I’m kind of proud of that too.

What you posted is misleading even though that may not have been your intent. The fact you posted something you saw on Fox doesn't make it any less misleading, it is still a misleading interpretation of poll results (perhaps deliberately on their part).

Gallup didn't find that only 36% of all Democrats are proud to be an American (it found that only 36% said they were "extremely proud" and that is a big difference).

Perhaps in the future if you start another thread like this, if you should mention your source material as it might save some misunderstanding

This. I am proud of the nation into which I was randomly born, and have willingly stayed in since.

None. It is privately held by Elon Musk. He bought out all the shareholders a few years back at $52 a share.
