No, I didn’t watch but they were talking about the monologue on the radio this morning so I goggled it. Shane Gillis ? Never heard of him. Only one or two funny jokes. Pretty terrible and he knew it and even said it multiple times. Good Trump impersonation though.

I banned watching ESPN years ago

I don’t even know what channel it is on anymore - had to use the google machine to find this clip.

Just watched the video and I actually thought he was pretty funny. At the start I was thinking wow he seems nervous and out of place and possibly mispronouncing names… but then it felt like the constant apologies and saying “that was a bad joke” was intentional. Overall I thought there were a number of good jokes.

I also had no idea who he was until a few months back but he’s apparently been riding a big wave of popularity

His show "Tires" on Netflix is absolutely f'n hilarous.  Must watch.  Season 2 just dropped.

Dude is fockin funny. That particular set wasn't close to his best work. It was probably toned way down for Disney.

His Trump impersonation is really good, IMO.

It is I guess but also not a hard impersonation to nail. Biden was pretty easy too

I’ve seen 4 episodes and it might be the worst show I’ve ever seen.

I guess you just don't get the humor.  To each his own.

At least we can agree that Colbert isn't funny.

Worst I’ve ever seen was probably an exaggeration but I don’t think I actually laughed until the bikini car wash episode and he’s really not that funny in it from what I’ve seen so far. I had it on my watch list before you mentioned it because I’ve seen some things with him that make me laugh so i definitely wanted to give it a try but it’s pretty meh.

It definitely took a while.  The first few episodes I didn't really understand what they were going for.  I laughed a few times so I stuck with it.

Then it was the last few episodes of season one where I finally caught on to the direction of the show and then the humor fell into place.  Season 2 then took off for me.

But I could see some that don't quite like the type of humor.

I thought it was hilarious.  He pissed off a lot of people.  Way too many people without a sense of humor.

Unless I am missing something profound, I don't feel like my not finding the show funny was for any lack of understanding their direction or what they were going for.  I look at stuff like the delivery of the lines and how the show flows overall and I found myself wondering a few times if this was a scripted comedy or if they were incorporating a lot of improv into the dialogue.

I am maybe 4 episodes into season 2 and while it's definitely better than the first 4 episodes of season 1, I don't think it's something I would be watching if I had anything else queued up right now.

But I am interested if you have a different take on what they are going for since you also said it took you a while.

Also, the way Gillis speaks and delivers his lines reminds me of someone else. It could possibly just be him from something else but if it's not, then it's almost like he is just copying another character but I can't quite put my finger on it
