Those of you who dismiss Trump’s authoritarian leanings may have trouble defending this action. He only wants facts that make him look good. Any fact that doesn’t must be eliminated.

One of the reasons why the USA is so great is because we can be trusted.  People want to invest here and do business here because we have a history of checks and balances and there is integrity built into our system.  That is all slowly eroding now which could have serious consequences.

Firing someone for poor job performance is what EVERYONE does.

The only reason I would call this "unusual" is the fact that someone IN GOVERNMENT got fired at all for a poor job performance.  Usually they get promoted.

She didn't get fired for poor performance and she didn't get fired for revising the numbers down. She got fired because the numbers weren't higher. He wants someone to lie

She wasn’t fired for the numbers being revised. The numbers are always being revised and it had nothing to do with her. She doesn’t even see the numbers until the last second- a whole group of statisticians report on this. For the numbers to be rigged they would all have to be in on it- thousands of people rigging numbers and no whistleblowers. Sure thing. 
 

She was fired because Trump didn’t like the reality of what she was reporting. That’s why it’s being like a dictator- he’s shooting the messenger. And you guys fall for it every time. It’s appalling and embarrassing for you. Where is your common sense and dignity? Seriously.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has used pretty much the same formula for measuring job growth for more than 20 years, and job growth was less than expected, but you'd rather believe some ridiculous conspiracy theory that the bureau head was doing her job poorly and cooked the numbers for political reasons and rigging the report.

Trump fired her because he didn't like the numbers, plain and simple. And that's the kind of thing dictators do, in addition all the other things Trump is doing right out of the dictator playbook, such as going after media that hurts his feelings and making up stuff about those who oppose him.
