Again I urge you guys to pay attention to the facts and not allow individual incidents, combined with ignorance, fear and bigotry, to shape your thinking. The reason that trans kids need protection is that up to 50% of them have been on the receiving end of violence. They are extremely unlikely to be violent. Today’s terrible event hasn’t changed that.

Well, the shooter here had already posted their manifesto online before the shooting, and it had gone viral, so the authorities couldn't really put a lid on it as too many folks had seen it. IIRC the Nashville shooter's manifesto was a private document discovered by police after the shooting, and who had to make a determination if it was wise to release it given possible retribution against trans folks.

Yup that’s exactly my point.  After the Nashville shooting people were comparing it to one of the shootings committed by a right wing extremist where the shooter had posted their manifesto online.

The good news is that, unlike this forum, the national discussion after this horrific event is about gun restriction, not trannies. Amy Klobuchar is leading the way.

If people want to have a serious discussion (which I know they don’t) about this shooter and what role being trans payed, has there been any credible reporting to suggest they even took any “gender-affirming” drugs?  Because all I’ve seen is that the name changed at 17.  In fact Westman said this:

“I don’t want to dress girly all the time but I guess sometimes I really like it. I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man,” he wrote.

Also sounds like the mom was a devout Catholic, so I don’t see any indication of the shooter being “groomed to be trans” as some here like to often claim.

Mom’s Instagram is still up somehow.  Includes pictures of the shooter still dressing as a male (but kinda emo) in 2019, the year before the name change which occurred in 2020.  But then a screenshot from Facebook (which may be taken down) seemingly dressing as a girl in 2021.

While I do think that transgender people have some mental impairments, they are not responsible for as many shootings as some on here claim.

Based on data from sources like Reuters, Washington Post, and Gun Violence Archive, transgender people are not disproportionately involved in mass shootings. Out of over 5,000 mass shootings since 2013, only a handful (around 5-6) involved transgender perpetrators, representing ~0.1% of cases, while they make up ~0.5-1% of the US population. The vast majority are cisgender men.
