FACT: The POTUS and his FCC Chair just threatened several American broadcast companies with license revocation because they disagreed with the content created by a comedian. The immediate effect is that the comedian was silenced. This is new. POTUS demanding fines be paid by CBS for editing. Editing! This is what literally every news org does with stories.

How about this: let's see some consistency, at least. Fox primetime regularly edits their interviews, and regularly engages in hateful, untrue speech. I'll wait for the hammer to come down on them.

I'd accept that, but it was NOT just Covid.  And you can deny the other side did it all you want, they did it.   Not excusing this, but I refuse to sit idly by while the left tries to say they never did this, or never supported this.  BS.  They did, they do.  It is in NO Way new...It is just more public.  Dems are just mad that it is being pushed back on them now.

You won't get much pushback from me on this.  I think politicians in general are lying sacks of sh*t that don't believe anything coming out of their mouths.  They say what's politically expedient.  I would note that this is a one time event as opposed to an entire department with an ongoing purpose.  But I would have still rather this FCC guy keep his trap shut and let this play out naturally.  It might have gotten here anyways but now we'll never know.

I wasn't a fan of it then and I'm not a fan of it now. It's pretty sad that we are holding our late night talk show hacks and cable TV talking heads to a higher standard then we do our leaders. Fundamental rights being oppressed from either side of the aisle should scare the hell out of us... yet we cheer and jeer along party lines as blindly as lemmings running towards the cliff. We laugh and point at the "other side" anytime their side gets a hole, not realizing that we are all on the SAME boat and its sinking. just random thoughts by some random internet guy. anyway back to the regularly  scheduled bashing...

The Baltimore-based broadcaster, whose group of some 40 ABC local TV affiliates is the nation’s largest, said Kimmel’s on-air remarks about Kirk’s assassination were “inappropriate and deeply insensitive.”

The company vowed not to return Kimmel’s show “until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.”

Sinclair said Disney-owned ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel was not enough and vowed to keep his show off its stations until he apologizes to Charlie Kirk’s family and donates to Turning Point USA.  

“We believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities,” Sinclair vice chairman Jason Smith said in a statement.

Smith praised Brendan Carr, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, who told conservative podcasters that the agency would take action against ABC’s owner, Disney, in light of Kimmel’s remarks about Kirk.

“This incident highlights the critical need for the FCC to take immediate regulatory action to address control held over local broadcasters by the big national networks,” Smith said.

I'm not denying Biden attempted to influence what was being done on social media at the time. I didn't like it, but from a public health standpoint understood that at the very least it could be construed as part of "the greater good" in protecting vulnerable populations. You can disagree with my assessment all you want, it's fair game. But working in healthcare gave me a pretty good look at the ramifications of what some of that misinformation did. People literally died while their caregivers were being screamed at by relatives telling them it was their fault their loved one died. This situation is not equivalent. Nobody is dying because Jimmy Kimmel can't STFU. The President did not threaten Twitter with deplatforming. Kimmel told no lies.

A few days ago my kids and I visited grampa. He was watching Fox news and as we walked into the room, the guest said "50% of democrats are okay with murdering their political opposition!" which is a CLEAR AND OBVIOUS LIE meant specifically to rile people up. I want Fox NEWS (fair and balanced trusted news org that millions rely on to tell them the truth) to be held to the same standard a comedian (that has no such responsibility to the public) is.
