Jimmy Kimmel fired

For the record, there is a federal law "73.1217 Broadcast hoaxes" that may have been broken by Jimmy Kimmel:

https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-47/chapter-I/subchapter-C/part-73/subpart-H/section-73.1217

So the FCC commissioner's comments may not have been 100% unwarranted.  I still would have rather he kept his trap shut but let's not pretend Jimmy Kimmel is innocent here.

BROADCAST HOAX

What's Kimmel guilty of, other than being an insensitive idiot that doesn't know when to shut his mouth?

Ro Khanna: "They're making comedy illegal. Brendan Carr pressured ABC to cancel Jimmy Kimmel, and Disney cancels Jimmy Kimmel. This canceling from an administration that lectured us about cancel culture. That's why today I'm introducing a motion to subpoena Brendan Carr."

boom

Stupid.  There wasn't anything comedic about his comments.

This is great information. I mean its the letter of the law right? That is what I always hear when they lock up granny praying to stop babies from being killed.

Of course you are right.  Conservatives have been yelling that from the rooftops for over a decade.

I mean Charlie Kirk was assassinated for crying out loud.

I can’t get over it finally took a late night no good comedian to simply lose a gig for all the Libs to open their eyes to it.  It’s incredible to watch.

Charlie Kirk was murdered by a lone nut.

Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air due to govt. pressure.

They aren't the same. HTH, but I know it won't, cause well, you are you.

Emoluments, lol.

Yeah. The clause in the constitution forbidding the president from financially profiting from his position. Basically the anti-grifter clause. The one that's supposed to prevent the chief executive from selling off his country to the highest foreign bidder. As opposed to opening a crypto company then accepting billions from foreign governments in pay-to-play schemes like oil and semi-conductor production.

Of course they are not even close to the same.  One guy is DEAD.  The other goes home to his family.

Liberals like yourself have championed cancel culture for 15 years.  Government pressure deplatformed people questioning Covid or the vaccine.  It’s WHY Musk even cared to buy Twitter.  Zuckerberg admitted it publicly with Facebook.

Now yall are clutching your pearls about free speech .  It’s hilarious.

Biden did nothing that Trump has done.  Not even close.

The govt was trying to control misinformation during a global pandemic.  That's a good thing.

Trump got Kimmel canned because he hurt his feelings.  That's a bad thing.

No, it's not.  The word misinformation is just a fancy word for "Information WE DECIDE you shouldn't know."  There is no such thing as misinformation.  There is information.  It's up to the individual to decide what is good information and what is bad information.  The way smart people with decent critical thinking skills get fooled is when some information is suppressed so they can't fully research the issue, which is what the government tried to do with Covid.

Yeah, I know. I'm just tired of how little evidence is required for some folks to believe the worst possible things about others, while expertly compartmentalizing and denying piles of evidence of worse actions perpetrated by those they continue to support.

Even if the Twitter Files stuff was exactly the same situation as we have here (it isn't), at best you have a bunch of MAGA playing fools in their outrage then vs. their acquiescence and silent endorsement now.

The "information" that covid was fake, Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine are good treatments, masks don't work, vaccines don't work, was all false and deadly.

To you it's the same thing as mocking the president.

Remember when Kimmel fired Dicky Barrett after working for him for almost 20 years because he didn’t accept the covid vaccine into his life?

Don't blame Kimmel, it was not his decision.

Barrett lost his job because the parent company of ABC (which aired Jimmy Kimmel Live!), required all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

It's good and healthy to stick your tongue in an electrical socket.  That's just information, not bad or good.

President Donald Trump on Thursday suggested that the federal government might revoke the licenses of broadcast television networks that are “against me.”

Trump’s comment came a day after ABC suspended airing the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show because of comments its host made linking the alleged killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk to Trump’s MAGA movement.

“There is a license. I’ll give you an example,” Trump told reporters.

“I have read someplace that the networks were 97% against me again, 97% negative, and yet I won and easily, all 7 swing states,” the president said, referring to his 2024 election win.

“They’re 97% against, they give me only bad press. They’re getting a license,” Trump said.

“I would think maybe their license should be taken away,” Trump said.

The president said that decision “will be up to Brendan Carr,” the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.

“I think Brendan Carr is outstanding, he’s a patriot,” said Trump, who nominated Carr to his position. “He loves our country, and he’s a tough guy. So we’ll have to see.”

You think Biden allegedly taking kickbacks (scant evidence, not even being pursued by Trump's DOJ b/c it was BS, they won the election so the lie is no longer useful) is the same as the Trump family accepting a $2B investment from a foreign nation right before he authorizes giving them computer chips (which his own intelligence agencies warned him against due to connections between UAE and China).

And you call me an idiot.

Maybe. But I know which ones will get attention for it and which won't (if any ever do). How about we investigate the ones with funky financials and prosecute where necessary? Dems, Reps, Indies, the whole lot of em.

What was false about them?

”MAGA tried to characterize the shooter as anything other than one of them.”

Fact check: true.  IANAL but IMO there’s no legal argument here.  Edit: Well unless you argue that MAGA wasn’t arguing he was “anything other,” they were pretty much only arguing that he was a leftist.
