You know I was kind of kidding about this but I looked it up on Goodreads and now I’m interested. I’m a huge fan of graphic novels and this looks like a good an important one. It’s so important right now to fight back against the anti-trans bigotry- too many kids continue to kill themselves because of the bullying and lack of acceptance. Based on the description this book should be required reading in our public schools. So I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for the recommendation! -
You are missing my point. In your scenario the letters remain. I'm saying: what if we said, "you don't need all of those letters, we can just call you all "queer" or something. Gay, trans, pansexual, y'all are the same. They would be apoplectic and insist that gay and trans are totally different, and that the letters must remain.

In reality LGB should be a stand alone as should the T. I have a gay family member and she said the gays have nothing in common with trans people. The gays are attracted to their own sex, trans are people who think they are a different sex than they actually are. Not even in the same league. You of all people should know this.

I philosophically agree with you, with the caveat that true gender dysphoria is very rare, so I would expect the counseling to not be a rubber stamp that the child is trans, but rather a deep exploration and evaluation for gender dysphoria, as well as the various other mental illnesses which correlate to self-identification of trans (e.g., depression, anxiety, self-hatred).

When you frame it like that, as in general? No. Do I think people here would be against counseling that in any way had an outcome of a trans kid? Different answer. I think the hysteria and distrust is at such a high level and I've seen comments here that there is no such thing as a trans person that lead me to believe people would be against that type of counseling.

To think that you are a different sex than you are is, for lack of a better phrase, a psychological abnormality. This country is so prosperous and happy that politicians and the media are making up crazy scenarios for you to worry about. You’re actually spending your days and nights thinking about Trans people and reparations. Reparations doesn’t exist and trans people barely exist. Can’t you see that the news is simply trying to get consistent viewers through propaganda and sensationalism? Notice how the war in Ukraine is a smaller and smaller story. What did Bill Gates do and say in China? Why didn’t Biden meet with China’s President instead of the Secretary of State? Do we need a war or depression to make you realize what’s important in life? "Reversible" is incorrect. The drugs work for the time they are used. If puberty blockers are used for 2 years, you cannot get that time back. You can stop taking them and whatever is left of your pubescence process will continue, but whatever you've lost in development for those two years is lost forever. So if you are a man, you might have a tiny/micropenis, tiny testicles which generate no sperm or testosterone, etc. The trans community intentionally obfuscates this to make it sound better than it is. -

Social media is certainly part of the problem. I hate it. But the other part, which you deny, is the hatred against Latinos being nurtured by Donald Trump in his rhetoric about undocumented immigrants. I had to look up who Riley Gaines was. Such stories don’t interest me. I don’t believe that biological males should compete in girls sports but it’s such a minor issue that I tend to ignore the headlines about it. iMO the only reason that most conservatives make a big deal about it is so they can continue their obsessive anti-trans harassment which is pretty ugly. Even so if she’s been threatened that’s wrong. -

Thanks Tim, I appreciate the good discussion. I find your link to be completely in sync with my "claim" or position. I feel like I've been consistent with it and stated it multiple times, but in the interest of further good discussion, I'll repeat it yet again. I believe that gender dysphoria exists, but is very rare. Until recently, remedies like hormones or surgery were reserved for extreme, severe cases. What changed is that it has become a social contagion, enabled by the psychiatric community. Every single country in your link, every one, is in some stage of increasing restrictions, limiting care to extreme cases, requiring multidisciplinary teams to diagnose cases, etc. One of many examples: You refuse to even consider the existence of this contagion, and the associated lack of rigor by the medical community. Yet if you read your link through this lens, it is clear that that is exactly what is being addressed. Perhaps stated another way: if you do not believe it, then what issue do you think they are addressing with these restrictions? If we could revert to a time where such rigor was implemented, I would be much more open to discussion of medical intervention for minors in extreme cases. Or in other words, deferring to the experts. But when those "experts" think such interventions are needed for anyone who feels trans, I will consider them idiot quacks who are caught up in a social movement, not experts. HTH -

Your last sentence assumes that a teenager can be indoctrinated into become trans, that it’s not normal, and that one cans be talked out of it later with proper mental health care. All three of these assumptions are refuted by the vast majority of medical experts. Yet you and so many others continue to believe this. -

As for pronouns, the politically correct Inquisitors would have us believe that one's pronouns belong to themselves alone. That has never been true. Pronouns belong to all of us collectively. You do not have a right to control my language, my perceptions. Get over it. Whether I choose to share your delusion is up to me and threats of some unknown trans violence cannot and will not change that. If a person believes they tend towards one of the two gender dichotomies different from their sex that's fine, I don't care. If you want to be a feminine male go for it. You will never be a woman, but go on and be your idea of feminine. Just know that your affectations of your ideas are often insulting and degrding sterotypes of the actual feminine . It’s 100% a fad. When I was younger, the fad was being bisexual. Girls would all claim they’re bisexual and some guys would too so they could sleep with girls. Now, it’s trans. I forgot how many thousands of percent the number of kids identifying as trans have went up but it’s an ungodly amount.
