  4. Slavery in contemporary Africa The continent of Africa is one of the regions most rife with contemporary slavery.[1] Slavery in Africa has a long history, within Africa since before historical records, but intensifying with the trans-Saharan and Indian Ocean slave trade[2][3] and again with the trans-Atlantic slave trade;[4] the demand for slaves created an entire series of kingdoms (such as the Ashanti Empire) which existed in a state of perpetual warfare in order to generate the prisoners of war necessary for the lucrative export of slaves.[5] These patterns persisted into the colonial period during the late 19th and early 20th century.[6] Although the colonial authorities attempted to suppress slavery from about 1900, this had very limited success, and after decolonization, slavery continues in many parts of Africa despite being technically illegal.[7] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_contemporary_Africa

    Timmy’s thread for general discussion

The other day I wrote that I would be posting a lot less in this forum and that remains true UNLESS anyone wants to engage in some serious discussion with me: you know the kind where you offer ideas and mean them, no trolling, and you’re prepared to back up your arguments. The kind where you try to avoid name calling and gratuitous remarks. If nobody wants to do that, I get it, that’s fine. Stay out of this thread and I’ll stay out of yours. If you do come into this thread looking to troll me I can’t stop you but don’t look for me to respond. As for anyone who wants to have deeper, thoughtful discussions, let’s have a clean slate. I’ll respond to everyone who seriously wants to engage with me: you don’t remember my past comments and I won’t recall yours either. We’ll start over; how’s that? I am a liberal and I know most of you are conservatives but that’s no reason we can’t engage in fruitful, respectful discussion. I am interested n the following topics: the Presidential election, Trump’s legal problems; Biden’s legal problems, abortion; climate change, inflation and the economy, gun control, race relations; the border and undocumented immigration, gay and trans issues, Ukraine and NATO, Israel and Palestine, the House and Senate races, all in no particular order. I want to discuss this stuff with serious people who disagree with me. If you’re not one of those, then no worries. We don’t need to talk any further.

44% of trans- identified individuals report serious psychological distress, and one-third homelessness. This is very sad. If they would seek the Lord, The Holy Spirit can help them understand the wrong and how to be cleansed to be right.

Marsha P. Johnson (1945-1992) Before Netflix brought Johnson's story to life with the documentary The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson, many people were unfamiliar with the influential role she had on drag and queer culture. Johnson, a Black trans woman and activist, was at the forefront of fighting for LGBTQ rights in the 1960s and 70s (including partaking in the resistance at Stonewall). In addition to being the cofounder of STAR, an organization that housed homeless queer youth, Johnson also fought for equality through the Gay Liberation Front.

The Church Shooter Was A Liberal Tranny

I mean, sometimes there is a direct link to their politics and violence. My point was that if you look at mass shooters in general, none of this applies because it's mostly inner city and domestic shootings widely applied. School/mall/church shooters take on a much different profile, and when you look at those specifically there is no common link like D/R, trans, etc.. The common traits are what I talked about and where we should start if we want to address it.

The Church Shooter Was A Liberal Tranny

It would make sense. Common traits for these types of shooters: domestic abuse, suicidal, attachment to the location, recent mental health crisis, access to guns. Things that aren't a common connection but people obsess about anyway: vote R or D, trans, what religion they are, etc.

The Church Shooter Was A Liberal Tranny

This person used a male name for crimes and because she was schizophrenic, no evidence they were actually a tranny. The Colorado Springs shooter did not “identify as non binary” until after the shooting. The trial showed there was no evidence they were actually non-binary. I mean c’mon, he couldn’t even fully commit to the act by actually claiming to be trans, so he went with “non-binary” I did not see any claims until recently (for a shooting that occurred in 2018) that the Aberdeen shooter was trans. The Nashville shooter was trans. These others were not based on the information we have available. If you insist I’ll give you the Iowa one but even that is a gray area. They may have been thinking about transitioning but had not yet.

The Church Shooter Was A Liberal Tranny

She was born female and identified as female, despite using the name Jeffrey. Does schizophrenic count as trans now? https://6abc.com/lakewood-church-shooting-shooter-houston-joel-osteen-megachurch/14415008/?ex_cid=TA_WPVI_TW&taid=65cbae331ba9b100015f7fd4&utm_campaign=trueanthem_manual&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=twitter But yeah, as noted earlier, the real story here should be that despite her documented mental health AND criminal history, she was still able to LEGALLY purchase a gun.

The Church Shooter Was A Liberal Tranny

Yeah, I call bs on this, especially in context of this board. Sorry, you can't say it's about "mental health" when you treat them and talk about them differently than other people who struggle with issues of mental health. You can't complain about lack of empathy and inability to help them when you don't know basic stats, offer any solutions on how to address mental health, and go along with the trope that they are violent as a people. I see the posts around here and think it's 100% about trans people and a dislike of them, or at the very least a hatred for the people who support them 100%. I see it as just another group of people the tribes are happy to argue about, take too extreme of positions on, and ultimately don't end up helping them in the long run.

I find it hard to not see trans as mental illness... If true, which it is, then isn't Liberalism a Mental Illness as well? They're all Liberals and all other Liberals see it as totally normal. Especially when Kids are involved. Libs love the Children.

    Trans Kids

Problem is, you can't anymore. The recent links talk about councilors being pressured to rubber-stamp any kid who thought they might be trans. This is part of how posters like @squistionand @The Real timschochet "conclude" that the "vast" majority of experts support transing the kids. The story has been laid out, for any who care to understand it. Europe had a study which showed positive results for medical intervention, so that became the norm. Problem was, that study used very carefully culled patients who had gone through rigorous counseling, not anyone who felt trans that day. After some time doing that, they've come to realize that that was a big mistake, and most if not all of those countries have significantly pulled back on such interventions. The US was eager to jump into the woke part of this story (the initial, mistaken part) but seems reticent to learn the second half from Europe, instead apparently being willing to screw up its own children and learn that way. Folks like Tim and Squis will sit here and say with a straight face that this astronomical increase in trans-identifying kids is all real, and all they needed was a welcoming society. The future will show how wrong this is, but they'll sit here with goofy smiles and say oops, oh well, we meant well, which I'm sure they do. That's one of the perils of liberal ideology, it just sounds so darn nice, even when it isn't.

    Trans Kids

Safari, I am on a sweet MacBook. The whole transgender movement really does fascinate me in a number of ways, but right now I am finding more interest in reading about those who de-transition. Mostly because I like reading their stories of how they got to where they wanted to transition in the first place, how they went through it, and now how they want to go back. And I am not saying it in an anti-trans sort of way, or an "I told you so." I am thinking of it from the mental aspect and how our brains work the way that they do and how it's all encompassing and what it means for our future. Not just for children, but adults and society as well. Other societies went through similar things, the Grecian empires had homosexuality, all of that and reading how it's changed over the years and how it affects societies is really really interesting to me. It makes me sad that some people are trying to actively silence this part of the process; what happens if I change my mind? This is like one of those life decisions where you literally CANNOT go back. And we are moving forward like there will always be options to go back, or "fix it" again.
  25. Perhaps akin to trans artist Kim Petras, who had gender reassignment or gender confirmation surgery at age 16 in Germany (legal age was 18 and she had to get special governmental evaluation and approval to do it).
