davebg 0 Posted May 4, 2006 They are awesome...I love that band. I wanted to go see them in concert. They were playing here in NYC last month, but two things kept me from going. 1. Tickets were HELLA-expensive. Something like $70 a pop...plus Ticketmaster's usual ass-rape charges. That just seemed like way too much for a ticket to see one band...especially since you don't really see the band in concert...they play behind some screens or something while you wathc their cartoon guys. 2. They were playing in the Apollo Theater. Not a greta idea for a couple of whities like me and Mrs. DaveBG. I mean, getting there wouldn't have been a problem, but good luck finding a cab up there after dark and no focking way I'm taking the subway from Harlem at 11 or 12 at night w/only the Mrs. as backup. phillybear 366 Posted May 4, 2006 One of the CD's I brought to work with me is the Gorillaz last album. I am trying to like it, but so far it hasn't grabbed me. The singles they released are the reason I bought it, but the rest of it is....meh.
mighty_thor 115 Posted May 4, 2006 I've always been a pretty big fan of gorillaz but my favorites are the lions and rhinos.
kutulu 1,688 Posted May 4, 2006 I like that one song. And it does feel good.
Ilov80s 0 Posted May 4, 2006 If you like the Gorillaz, I would download some Amadou and Mariam. Their newest cd is entitled Dimanche a Bamako . Its all in French, but its a great album. Amadou and Mariam are blind couple from Africa. The CD has a definite African feel, but its a eccletic and wild sound. Senegal Fast Food is the song to download. Dr. Octopus 0 Posted May 4, 2006 I think the Archies and the Bannana Splits are superior as far as the cartoon band genre goes.
davebg 0 Posted May 4, 2006 Yeah that's worth $70. And $70 was for the third mezzanine. God only knows WTF goes on in the upper deck of the Apollo.

Nasboat 0 Posted May 6, 2006 Gorillaz kick ass. Demon Days is much better than their self-titled album. El Manana is by far their best song.
Recliner Pilot 61 Posted May 6, 2006 I think the Archies and the Bannana Splits are superior as far as the cartoon band genre goes. The Bannan Splits were not cartoons. They were guys dressed up in, um..........er.........oh........goofy suits of some kind. But they did have some killer 6 wheel vehicles to goof around in. Jessy 0 Posted May 6, 2006 I likes Gorillaz. And I just burned the CD for my nephew. That kid's got good taste in music.

But they did have some killer 6 wheel vehicles to goof around in. Do you remember the Brady Bunch episode where they were at King's Dominion or whatever amusement park and Greg spent time dressed up as one of 'em just to get with that groovy chick? Crassic. Oh, yeah I enjoy the Gorillaz music. Also, I find the whole concept of the animated band pretty cool.
