Snuff 10 Posted January 22, 2007 I live in Pittsburgh....well, I used to. Now I am just south of it. Anyways, in this area football rules all. No matter what. So of the major league sport teams here, obviously the Steelers are #1. But with the Pirates and Penguins, the interest seems to be about the same. Even when we had winning baseball and hockey teams, I could never get the "feel" of which is the bigger of the two. I guess I'll go with the Pirates because of their history. Steelers Pirates Penguins How does your city see it? Think of the history behind the team, the fan base, who the local media tends to cover more, etc.... GobbleDog 996 Posted January 22, 2007 Orlando, FL College football is still king in the South, especially among the older people. (UF, FSU and Miami take yer pick) Pro football is second biggest. (In Orlando, it's mostly a mixture of Bucs and Dolphins fans.) Basketball and baseball are after-thoughts, especailly with the younger people. (most popular are Orlando Magic / Atlanta Braves... nobody cares about the Devil Rays or Marlins) Nobody in Florida has any interest in hockey - except me. (Go Tampa Lightning!) ManUtd 0 Posted January 22, 2007 The World Champion Cardinals Blues (making a strong and swift comeback since 12/06) Rams (jumped over the Blues in 1999/2000) Rams support comes and goes with season results and expectations. The Blues fell off the edge after the hockey strike, but since the coaching change in December support is making a comeback. Within the last month I have seen people dust off their old Blues jerseys and start wearing them again with pride.

With that said, University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and *gasp* George Mason all hail from Virginia. I didn't realize you lived here in Phoenix. Anyway, I agree with your assessment. The Cards and DBacks are kinda 2A and 2B, depending on the season at this point. If the Cards actually did something, they could own this town though. The Coyotes are pretty much not on the radar.
