If that is the case, then why did Naomi fly right into the forcefield that causes flying objects to crash?

Maybe the Swan hatch explosion changed the dynamics of the island. Communication is no longer possible with the outside world, so if naomi was off the island, she would have no way of knowing that things were different now, as Mikhail said when Sayid, Locke, Kate, and Rousseau went to the Flame station.

Or Naomi realized that flying to the island would cause a crash. With a helicopter, there really is no ejection mechanism. You plan ahead of time with the parachute, knowing that you will crash. Naomi simply had the bad luck to have a bad landing with a punctured lung. And possibly Penny parachuted down as well. Where? I have no idea yet.

Prior to the Swan explosion, seems like a supply plane could drop off food, but the Flight 815 crashed. The crash of the airliner was due to Desmond not pushing the button soon enough. But now, things are different, after "the sky turned purple" incident.

Just speculating...

That's why I like the show. It's one of the only TV shows that forces me to use my head. X Files had a bit of that quality as well. It's not mindless drivel with a laughtrack, or a neat little plot that is started and resolved in a single episode. The show is complex, tons of hidden clues, and is on the verge of some interesting scientific theory plot lines. It's not for everyone. But I find it fascinating, very fascinating. And I have quite a bit of patience for the payoff to the series, at the end of Season 5.

Edit: we get some answers every week, but we get new questions every week as well.

I loved the show until I found out other people were living on an adjacent island.

Technically, they only worked at the Hydra station on the other island. They still permanently lived in the village on the main island.

During a podcast from a couple of days ago, the Lost producers said that the Losties are not in purgatory and are not dead like Naomi claimed they were.

Which leads to another possibility. Did time freeze during the crash? Are the survivors living on borrowed time, to the point were the series finale final episode will conclude with going back to the Oceanic 815 plane crash, and everyone dies?

It's been widely reported that at least 4 more characters will die this season. Not really a spoiler.

The final 3 episodes are gonna kick some ass.

OK. What I want to see on this current rerun is to see if Sun sneaks back into the medical hatch and overhears Juliette.

And now, to immerse myself in the fresh episode, and take some notes.

A 2nd source says everyone died on the plane.

As has been long suspected, Locke's father is the original Sawyer.

I'm not so sure Sawyer Sr. is dead.

Kate is a rat

also locke = jacob

As I've said before he will make a power play to take over the others

Seems like they are pointing to that...but seems kinda simplistic.

Also, what do you think J & J were talking about that she wanted to tell Kate but he didn't?

A few drunken thoughts, after tonights episode, May 1st, 2007...

No flashbacks this episode. Weird. First time ever, I think.

Anthony Cooper with some memorable quotes: "Don't you know where we are?" to Locke.

Cindy is back. What a worthless piece of sh.....

Ben is walking again. We have Locke to thank for that. Dumass.

Sawyer, the master con artist, is being conned by Hurley, Kate, and now Locke. He lost his mojo.

Chilling: Naomi: The bodies were all there.

Note this with a lot of emphasis and paraphrasing: "The island magically appeared, after the clouds parted." Bermuda Triangle?

I love that the Black Rock was revisited.

Rousseau with a surprise appearance, back for some dynamite. This sets up a future episode.

Locke is with the Others to find his purpose. What a weasel. He needs Sawyer to kill his daddy so he can rejoin them.

Anthony Cooper was kidnapped. No doubt. That's how he got on the island. The Others kidnapped him.

I don't know how many times we have heard this recently, but it is very important: "Where Are We?". Remember this. This has to be important.

The Sawyer letter reappears. Cooper refused to read it. That took balls. But it cost him his life. For now. Let's face it. If the island want's him to live, he will recover.

We all read how we would see at least 4 more deaths before the end of the season. Anthony Cooper is the first.

The tape recorder takes on more value now. It sure as hell looks to me, based on the previews, that Jack vs Sawyer will tear the camp apart, and more deaths are inevitable.

Man, that was an awesome episode!!! Seriously, i think, other than the finales, that was one of the best episodes ever. This episode deffinently revealed ALOT of information, plus it had action and everything else.

So, the island isn't on any GPS, as Naomi said the coordinates were just open ocean. Looks like that explosion(really an implosion) did knock out all communication to the outside world, as the radio thingy didn't send or pick up any frequencies, i am sure there is a way you could do it though.

A couple things, it is a real place but something happens where you can't see it somehow. The electromagnetic pulse did send out coordinates of the island and that is where it was, but, i am guessing there are only certain times you can see it or something. It is not visible from space, and obviously at least isn't easily seen from the water, as see said it took 3 days to finally find it.

How the hell did Penny know that it would send out that pulse though??? Who the frick knows, though, i did say at the very end of season 2 at the end of the finale that Penny would be the one who at least tries to rescue them, looks like that is true.

So, Locke is going to find out whatever is going on, at least partially.

What was it Jack didn't want to tell Kate, but Juliet did?? Maybe that Juliet is double crossing the others. That wouldn't matter as she is about to be exposed. I am betting the last episode will be either the raid on the beach, and that ending up being a big battle. It could also be the frieghtor coming close to the island, and either crashing somehow or the others destroying it. Obviously, no one is getting rescued this season....

The Man Behind the Curtain

First aired: 5/9/2007 Production Code: 320

Ben unwillingly divulges information to Locke about the island, taking him on a journey to various locations including strange monuments and the mysterious Jacob. Back at the beach, Juliet's secret is revealed. Flashbacks will show us the origins of DHARMA and the history of the island, including 'the purge.'

We may be getting some answers next week.

I've grown tired of the writing to extend this for what will now be forever but I'll catch it in 20min to see if it is worth it. Your post made me interested.

Between this and PrisonBreak...end it and start a new show...it happens...

The black dude and his kid. Did they really get off the island? that kid was special. They must be somewhere on the island. If they had made it back to civilization then people would know there were survivors. Are we going to see them again? :ninja:

I remember reading that one of them (can't remember if it was Michael or Walt) was under contract for this season -- meaning that he should show up at some point this season, maybe in the finale.

This was a greta episode.

There are many, many theories out there that we are all trying to figure out but I can't get away from one basic thought. The Black Smoke Monster. No matter what whacked out world, magnetic blah blah blah, the monster exists. What kind of place can they be where this monster exists?

Personally, I think the whole thing is a dream sequence and the very last episode will be Hurley in the insane asylum, rocking back and forth, dreaming this whole thing up.
