To Me the best of the old school rappers was a toss between Run DMC and Ice T . Run DMC for being the first big radio Rappers ( other than maybe Sugar Hill Gang ) and Ice T for being pretty much the first gangster rapper at least as far as I remember.

No Rakim?

I'll go Run DMC then just for innovation and staying power.

Run DMC were has-beens before they turned 30. Eric B & Rakim could kick their asses.

Rakim = one of the best MCs

voted run, but prefer beastie boys. ll is right there with run dmc..... funny to see the different era's and evolution of and dissection into different genre/s. nwa seemed more cutting edge, but now is also considered oldschool

It's not a black and white issue. But if it were, I'd go Beastie Boys and Ice T with honorable mention to NWA.

That would be a White, Black, and Black issue

Don't forget Jimmy Spicer. Who? The Adventures Of Super Rhymes.

If You've never heard this song than you should listen to it. I have 2 original 12' copy's. 1 open and 1 never opened.

There is actually a 2nd rap song on the record. It is the continuation of the first that is heard here.

They ended the 2nd song before it was done.

Here's the song.

Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five should also be listed in this thread.

I was in a fraternity that accepted all kinds ... Delta house .... really ... we were the real "Animal House" ... yeah ... and I was the wasted guy in the back .... yellin' "FIGHT THE POWER!"

And that's all I gotta say.

Hell Week .... I was Fall, 1990 .... I heard enough of "Ice Ice Baby" to last me forever.

Even Bowie "Under Pressure" .... bad memories.

Not even a mention of the late 2Pac Shakur? C'mon people, put your cheese sammiches down and take another swig of that unsweetened tea before you make a poll like this.
