Flashover 0 Posted September 10, 2008 LEBANON, Ohio - John McCain took a risk in picking little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as a running mate, but now the campaign's playing it safer. She's sticking to a greatest hits version of her convention speech on the campaign trail and steering clear of questions until she's comfortable enough for a hand-picked interviewer later this week... But none of the candidates in this race has been so shielded from the media, so protected from any spontaneous situation, and Palin's unvarying remarks give the impression that she and her message are being tightly controlled. As before her convention speech, McCain's campaign is briefing Palin for her first TV interview. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/palin_playing_it_safe
thetxstang 0 Posted September 10, 2008 The piece from the article I find most disturbing... McCain campaign manager Rick Davis has said Palin will "agree to an interview when we think it's time and when she feels comfortable doing it." So, fock the American people and their desire to learn more about their potential VP. By God, she'll do an interview when McSame's camp "thinks it's time," and "when she feels comfortable doing it." As my redneck Uncle Hank would say, "That dog don't hunt." What the hell is going on? Is she being coddled by the McSame camp because she's a dainty wittle thing that needs pwotection fwom the big bad wiberals? What is she? An innocent little schoolgirl needing protection from playground bullies, or a powerful woman ready to help lead our country? What happens if McSame kicks the bucket, God forbid? Meanwhile... By comparison, her Democratic counterpart, Joe Biden, has been campaigning on his own, at times taking questions from audiences. He split off to campaign separately from Barack Obama the day after Obama announced his selection. They reunited at their party's convention and spent the following weekend campaigning together. Biden's appearances have touched on a range of issues — in Florida he talked about U.S. support for Israel, in Pennsylvania it was economics and tax policy. He was interviewed on NBC's "Meet the Press" last Sunday God save us. Everything about this election season gets more insane each passing day.
Brad GLuckman 519 Posted September 10, 2008 I guess it depends on how you look at it. But it turns out that she is spending much of Thursday and Friday with Gibson — at the ceremony in Fairbanks, Alaska, and at her home in Wasilla, Alaska.Campaign aides said the anchorman will get extensive, repeated access to Palin throughout her first trip home since becoming the nominee. “ABC News will have plenty of time to question her and examine her and spend time with her,” a campaign official said. “They’ll do multiple interviews over two days. No topics are off-limits – there are no ground rules. There’s tons of time to talk to her about every topic.”The remarkable rollout reflects new confidence in Palin by her handlers, who initially had suggested it would be a while before she did interviews. Now, there will be several. Link

The Moz 71 Posted September 10, 2008 But none of the candidates in this race has been so shielded from the media, so protected from any spontaneous situation, http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/palin_playing_it_safe Jeebus man -- what other canidate is getting an all out media blitz/assault on her?? I realize the whole Media 80-90% is Liberal and hates republicans ( outside of Fox ) But really they are screwing Obama as the more they go after Palin the more Hillary support they are giving McCain. Everyhting on Palin she has explained reasonably. Bridge to nowhere - hell Obama looks worse on this than she does when you really look into it ( which I am suprised he would make an issue of this ). Her ex brotherin law was electricuting his son and doingother pretty focked up things - she asked that he be removed from being a police officer - maybe not right or leagal but I have no problem with a POS not being able to be a cop anymore if he would do that to his own kid - who knows what he does otherwise. Per Diem spending -- Fock this is so stupid -- go to any state and you likely find MUCH worse per diem spending than anything Palin did. her daughter got knocked up at 17 -- Obama's momma had him at 17. Obama is a sinking ship right nowe and he will get killed in debates if not allowed his nice n cozy teleprompter to tell him what to say - as thinking for himself is difficult for him after all all he could seem to do is vote present for most things anyway. This is a perfect example where you come off looking silly. A VP can have considerable clout in decision making. They're not just some benign figurehead. Look at the power D!ck Cheney wields over The Shrub administration. One of the reasons Plain was selected as VP was for her unique youth, vigor and understanding of today's politics. Unlike stodgy old McSame. You can bet she'll be called on for her input during decision-making policies. That is, of course, unless the Repubs believe she's better suited to making sammiches in the kitchen and "not experienced enough." You've also overlooked the scenario presented above. "What happens if McSame were to kick the bucket, God forbid?" swamp dog presented the most relevant argument: "And we're supposed to believe this person--whom they can't even trust to go toe-to-toe with a reporter--is going to be able to lead a country facing two war fronts?" Lastly, the Lions fan attack on swamp dog is ridiculous and not apropos to this thread. It illustrates your need to grasp straws.

thetxstang 0 Posted September 10, 2008 Would this be anything like The Clown agreeing to go on O'Reilly MONTHS ago, and finally "thinks it's time" if O'Reilly broadcasts the interview on the night of McCain's acceptance speech? Frankly, I'm disappointed Obama agreed to "teh" interview at all. It sent an unpleasant message that Fixed News and the Bill O'Lielly types have some level of legitimacy. And what are O'Lielly's first words to Obama? "You do realize that this will be the toughest interview you’ll ever go through." Obama had a huge sac to do that interview in the first place, knowing he would be filleted in front of the right-wing crowd and interrupted constantly (one of O'Lielly's shticks). Plain won't even talk to the media yet. Not until she "feels comfortable." Bill O'Liely is little more than a Republican mouthpiece. He's an entertainer for the right, constantly attacking the "loony liberals" and "radical left." He has not a morsel of journalistic integrity. Anyone who comes across that angry, vindictive, and always in attack mode has no business delivering "fair and balanced" news. ALSO@#@#...I still chuckle over that scandal involving Bill O'Lielly's phone-sex escapades with Fixed News employee Andrea Mackris. What was that suggestion about the d!ldo again? You're not really stupid enough to think she's giving a whole weekend with abc news, are you? She sits down with Charlie Gibson - who McSame's people admitted, was chosen because he softballed her on the family stuff when she first was named. She sits down with one single hand-chosen reporter for 20 minutes. Then ABC cuts that into multiple pieces. - She's not giving 5 - 4 minute interviews Brad. It's one interview with one guy. And again, why is and has EVERY OTHER VEEP candidate just begged for airtime, opened themselves up to any and every damn thing - including recalcitrant Darth Cheney - yet this c unt is so stupid, so inexperienced, so fragile that she's held to a different standard? It's a simple question. Why do people like you keep bending over backward to create a ridiculously low standard for her that NO VP has ever experienced? Fock, even Dan Quayle put himself out there. Do they think she'll misspell Potato? - Or GOP? Maybe look like that beauty pagaent chick who thoroughly botched her answer? What??
