Vick Is Flying With Philly!

Recommended Posts

Well, I'm not sure he's going to bring anything close to the athletic talent and instincts he had pre dog electrocution but it's not a bad fit I guess.

How are the Philly fans liking the Kolb pick now?

Andy Reid sure knows how to handle "close ones" that have seen/served/serving jail time:)

I say perfect fit

You could almost call coach Reid a mentor

NORRISTOWN, Pa. -- A judge who sentenced Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid's sons to jail on Thursday likened the coach's home to "a drug emporium" and questioned whether his adult sons should live there.

"There isn't any structure there that this court can depend upon," Montgomery County Judge Steven O'Neill said before sentencing 22-year-old Britt Reid to up to 23 months in jail plus probation.

Hmm.....Cleveland didnt want any of that? Im sure the Dogpound would have gone over well there.

I cant wait for Philly fan to go all Philly fan on some picketers......you know thats going down badly for someone....and it will probably go bad for the nerdy guy toting a sign on a stick. Good times.

Couple quotes from the chat on justin.tv -

"Using Vick will be fun in Madden. He prolly has special moves, like electro-dog-shock, or bodyslam till they are dead move. Can't wait"

"Why would Donavan be happy about it they've basically just brought in a younger version of him"

"vick has been a reciever for the past 2 years why cant he be a tight end now?"

Since this is a fantasy board i will mention this has to hurt Mcnabbs value a little. Vick in on wildcat formations and trick plays etc.

Why?

Desaun Jackson was the wildcat QB last season. This just means that jackson can stay out wide when the eagles run the wildcat.

True but then you read things like this and it makes you wonder a little. You wonder how they will use him.

the Eagles are gunning for a Super Bowl title this season. ESPN's Jon Gruden suggested that they see Vick as a "missing piece," with offensive guru Andy Reid finding creative ways to utilize his talent. The Dungy/Vick team placed a high priority on stability, and the Joe Banner/Tom Heckert/Reid trio provide plenty of ballast. Vick is no threat to Donovan McNabb's starting job, but it may be an indication that Kevin Kolb's knee injury is more serious than originally believed. The $5.2 team option means it's basically a one-year deal, barring a serious injury to McNabb.

Listen, save your prayers. I don't need you in my corner...It's people like you that go and kill the abortion doctors because they are "killing people." Go screw yourself, don't preach here.

Agreed.....go tell your story on Oprah or the View. Society and the courts said he paid his time.....thats good enough for me......he can get a second chance.

These same morons that are on Vick....dont say anything about Stallworth, Leonard Little, etc.....who actually killed PEOPLE!! And got little to no time.

PS-- Guy in our league just dropped Hixon for Vick.....staggering.

I'm watching the game and this was just Gruden guessing and speculating on how Vick will be used. I know things ended well for McNabb last year and look good now but there were a good many people calling for his head early last year so it will be interesting how this plays out.

I am officially boycotting vick on all my teams. I wont touch him even if he blows up and steals Mcnabbs job and gets 5,000 yards and 35 Tds. I have to stand up for family values and morals. I guess the eagles did this because they have a built in fan base full of criminals.

Ummm What? I know as a Philly fan, we sometimes deserve our share of ribbing, but WTF are you talking about? I hardly think we are all criminals.

I am still a bit stunned by the move myself and would prefer not to have Vick on my team, but it is what it is.... But, now that he's here, I just hope they do something with him to make it worth it.

Hey, I am not trying to make waves here. But most of the nation thinks the way I do. This is a Christian nation with strong family values. I have a 12 year old son and 9 year old daughter and I don't want them seeing this guy on sundays playing. I might have to boycott all eagles games on the tv.

Well then, take your little retards to church on Sundays instead of watching the Eagles. Dilemma solved.

So much for my theory that no successful team would sign him. I'm amazed the Eagles are willing to deal with the 24/7 Mike Vick spotlight for the next two years.

Oh well, glad he's back. From a sports-fan standpoint, I wanna see him play. I'm also happy he didn't sign with my Dolphins or anyone else in the AFC.

I was more commenting on your tired comments about Philly fans. A snot-nosed little biotch Cubs fan just threw a focking beer at Shane Victorino as he caught a deep fly ball. And what do you hear about it on national media??? "Chicago fans are better than that." Phillies fans get attacked by gangs IN THE DODGERS STADIUM, with video evidence on youtube, and you don't hear a peep.

No, it wasn't towards your holier-than-thou attitude, or your soapbox speech. It was more a commentary on how lazy you are as a sports fan because you take lazy national media outlets as gospel.

I'm sure the coach from the Kansas City Royals would rather have batteries thrown at him than be attacked by a POS redneck father and son duo during the game.

But keep referring back to Philly fans booing Santa in the 60s

I don't think the "Vick circus" will last two years. I could see it being a big deal early-on this year, but once the PETA BS stops, it'll settle down.

Definitely not happy with the signing, but just like when OWens signed, I'll have to root for a guy who I think is an asswhole, since he's on the team I cheer for. Hopefully, this signing works out a little better than the TO signing.

In the Fantasy word he means nothing.

Several years ago when he was with the Falcons, I would not bother drafting him....so why would I now.

Just another weapon for Phili......

OKm where did chuck's post go? OK Chuck, we're such a Christian country where family values are important. Family values where priests are molesting little boys and being covered up by the vatican...Please. I don't have to follow a religion, I am a great family man, I have great morals and values. You religious type talk about forgiveness, yet a guy spends two years in jail and loses all he has and you want to condemn him for life....I don't go to church on Sundays, but I can tell you my morals and family values are up there with the best of those practicing any religion, and I am not here to judge Vick. he paid for his crime, so why don't you christians do as your religion says and show him forgiveness as he has repented. Does he need to take communion on sunday with a bunch of hypocrites to make it better for you?

Ive said it before and ill say it again.......no group is more judgemental and high and mighty than........Christians.

Nobody says what he did is right, and i havent seen one post saying "Yea MIchael Vick we love you!"

NO possible way you can say this guy didnt pay enough or serve enough time for his crime.......so he shouldnt get to work again doing what he wants to do?

If he made $15 million a year in the UFL....would you be complaining? Really think their would be picketers at those game? I could be wrong....but i dont think their would be.

But because the NFL is where VICK wants to be.....people have a problem with it.

I dont get it.....if you want to use this as a teaching tool for your kids....use it to teach forgiveness. I would think you would raise them smart enough not to have dogfights.......but that ok you made a mistake....heres how you forgive, heres how you atone for your error in judgement, heres how you show others not to follow in your path. THAT is christian.....not sitting back saying you will boycott games and sit on a high horse.

Ok im off my soapbox now..

OK, first off this guy is just another of those dumbass aliases that we all deal with on the regular, he likes to stir up sh!t so dont let it get to you.

Second, do me a favor and stop lumping all Christians and our religion in with A-Holes like him. I am a Christian and take great offense to things like this.Understand that just because there are zealots out there that go nuts, not all Christians are like that.

very interesting news.

this was a team/fit that was surely on very few people's choice list and radar. the deal seems good for both parties.

it still remains to be seen how long vick will take to 1] get into any type of playing shape, 2] get back to elite playing shape, if at all.

Agreed. I'm not religious at all and would prefer to keep the threads as much on the FF topic as possible.

Onto the topic...Do I like Vick? Absolutely not. Do I think he's served his time and deserves to play if given the opportunity? Absolutely. If he were a serial killer or child molester, I'd say keep him locked up and don't let him back into the real world. He made extremely stupid decisions, but would argue that he's probably not mentally disturbed and can get back into the real world and be a respectable citizen.

I won't be drafting him in any of my leagues.

He can be used as another weapon, or he can simply be insurance for a team that's looking to go all the way.

Now if he winds up taking a roster spot on opening day, then I'll have a problem with this.

Part of me also wonders if this is Reid's way of sending a message to his two sons, that if you do wrong, pay your dues, that second chances are possible. A reach, I know, but still something to consider.

Oh this is getting good

Christian morals are now being intertwined with Vick playing in the NFJAIL.

Here is the most up to date criminal activity, and their thuginess in this league. It's a beautiful potpori of horribleness. You will be amazed at some of the arrests. Why they weren't crucified like Vick just makes me wonder.

Do I want to see the football in his hands after this ordeal - YES. Perhaps I'm like a chick watching her soap :pointstosky:

Vick's gonna be on their 53 man roster. Guaranteed. Pretty savy move by the Eagles. Now if McNabb gets hurt they have a good QB that can step in.
