Trade down from #30...some poor sap of a team will be creaming their panties for Tebag. Get a second and a third for #30.

Acree on Teabag :dunno:

I say go with Safety, CB or Phat Pat's replacement with our first pick.

Yeah, let Teabag stay in Florida (JAX).

Vikes are in good position to take BPA at 1.30. So if they're in love with a CB or OL or DT, take that dude. Of their first few picks, I think 2 of them have to be CB and DT, and then focus on RB/S/OL the rest of the draft.

Rumors have Tebow going to Minn if he is available. They might just be blowing hot smoke.

There's an article in today's paper about the Vikings' interest in Tebow.

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/...Unciaec8O7EyUsl

I think (hope) it's a smokescreen. The Vikings are a win now team, and though they don't have a lot of holes, their pick at 30 could really help them out this year. Drafting Tebow won't do that. If he fell to the 3rd....I'd have no problem taking a chance on the guy. Above all else, he's a football player and could fill in where needed. But as far as his QB aspirations, the dude is a project.

Then again, I wasn't very happy with the prospect of drafting Harvin last year either...wanted Maclin instead....mostly because of the potential punk factor. ;)

Chilly and Spielman have aced their first rounders in the past, so whoever they take, I'll be cool with.

I am really high on trading #30 with one of the teams that have an early 2nd round pick. If Buffalo or Carolina doesn't get Clausen in the first round, maybe they will be willing to trade up with us and try to jump over another team for a QB.

It sounds as if the pool is very deep for CB's. We should be able to get a guy we need in the middle of the second round. then use our other 2nd round pick on McCluster.

They just added Lito Sheppard to the Vikes. Nice addition at a reasonable price. This should give them a bit more flexibility in the draft.

Tim Tebow now a Bronco.

Dodged that bullet, or didn't miss a missed opportunity.

Had expected that Steelers may have gone that way in reaction to Ben.

Could a QB still be in the mix?

if clausen is there i don't see how the vikings can pass on him. have him set behind favre next year.

there's great cb value right now as well...but you get a chance at at top-flight qb prospect and you don't have one a long-term one on your roster, gotta pull the trigger.

Please take Clausen if he's there

Could not agree more. I was not a fan of getting McCoy or Tebow, but with Clausen availble, give it a shot. Otherwise, trade down and add some picks!

not even palin's tarded child would support jackson. if that's the reason the vikes end up passing on clausen, chilly should be fired immediately.

The biggest problem with Clausen is that the Vikes are in a win now situation, and Clausen doesn't help win now.

But with Wilson off the board, he's the best pick, IMHO.

Not certain what would be the appropriate round, but would love to see Myron Rolle added to the purple.

i agree. the team is good and young enough that they will also need to have something there for life after Favre

They need to win now without any additional players. They need to build for the future in the draft so they don't end up like the Raiders, Browns, Bills, and Seahawks of the world.

Problem with not getting a QB this year is what do you do once Favre is retired.

Who is the next veteran QB that is out there you can sign in Free Agency that will pilot this ship?

Had Eagles not traded away Mcnabb, he would have likely been the man.

Ultimately, what will determine the success of drafting a QB will be the coaching you provide him. How much time you can afford to let him study before his planned first start.

holy crap! the lions traded up to the minny's spot.

and only gave up a 4th and a later pick to swap spots!

like it!

No first round pick for the Vikes

Better have gotten something good if you trade within the division.

probably a very smart trade.

they can get clausen at 2.2

indy new orleans and stl wont be taking him... neither will detroit

Vikings traded with Detroit

This still can leave Clausen as an option. But, it gives them a day to take offers from Buffalo and Cleveland. I think we make another trade out of the #2 spot tomorrow...

Also gives the Rams a day to get offers, and they need a lot of help.

Vikings move up in the 4th and get a 7th, plus the Lions 2nd.

i was nervous about the compensation...but i'm elated to hear that! that ain't bad at all for the lions to guarantee themselves best.

minny must not like anyone on the board right now.

here's the thing: if best comes in and runs on the vikings for the next several years...you can remember the vikings gave him to detroit!

doh!

i'm hearing it's SWAPPED picks in the 4th, NOT the lions just giving their 4th.

even better.

true, probably a calculated risk.

if the vikings loved clausen they wouldn't have traded out of that pick. it's not like detroit threw the bank at them. there certainly wasn't enough bribery in detroit's trade offer to move off the pick *if* you were really really truly in love with clausen.

seriously: so a qb you love is there--and you d!ck around and take a chance on missing out simply to switch spots in the 4th round? doesn't make sense.

no, i think the tea leaves are saying the vikes don't like clausen--or enough, anyway.

Speilman was on the radio and said there are 4 players they want at 2.2. He is not worried if the Rams trade with someone and Clausen gets taken...there will still be 3 players they really like. I actually think the Vikings want to trade even farther down.

And to bring up a point about the round 4 swap:

Rounds 2 & 3 are tomorrow night. But rounds 4 through 7 are on Saturday. Speilman said it is big to have the 2nd overall pick on Saturday. They will get a chance to re-evaluate players again after tomorrow night and get a very good player at 4.2.

I like it

I'm guessing they were going to take the corner taken by the Jets the pick in front of them and bailed for an extra pick at that point.

nice drop of only 4 spots to move up in rd4.

sheppard's signing doesn't rule out a corner for me [cook, arenas, cox still available]; i think the falling of the big defensive linemen also played a role in this----i'd love to see them snag terrence cody here as the replacement for pat williams [i had thought cody would be gone and they'd have to choose between cam thomas or linval joseph] .

That'd be my guess. I'm guessing they aren't that high on Clausen either.

Second pick of the day tomorrow, with plenty of talent available.

So what a fans wants an fan doesn't get.

Somehow I am feeling as excited about this pick (named Cook) as the last player they drafted named Cook.

As the NFL analysts stated he could be a CB or a FS and then note that he couldn't cover in a certain way during the Senior Bowl.

So we got someone that can play many positions, but no position all that well. Best fit for a T2 apparently. Why not get best (or better) player available then?
