Vikings4ever 568 Posted August 15, 2011 http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2011/08/brother-of-eagles-wr-jeremy-maclin-hes-fine/1 "They kind of have us on a gag order until tomorrow," Andre Maclin said of the Eagles. "But he's fine, he's fine. That much I can say," while adding he was "confident" Maclin would play this season. I'm not reassured until he's on the field, but at least it's something. Vikings4ever 568 Posted August 15, 2011 WTF would they be on a "gag order" if he wasn't injured? I have to wonder if it's something like diabetes, where they want to have a plan in place on how they're dealing with it before they announce it.

bjsteel 34 Posted August 16, 2011 I have to wonder if it's something like diabetes, where they want to have a plan in place on how they're dealing with it before they announce it. This could be a possibilty, it took us about 2-months to diagnose my sons diabetes, which was back in 2007 (he was 11 at the time). Although I would think nowadays it shouldn't take this long, but you never know. I have my sights on Maclin around rd 5, hopefully we find out something soon and he'll be alright. I looked up the symptoms of diabetes, and a couple of type 1 are fatigue and weight loss. That said, I'm not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Fatigue and weight loss are definitely a couple symptoms, but the two most obvious are extreme thirst and frequent urination; I wish it wouldn't have taken us so long to see the signs for my son!! Living in Chicago, and knowing what my kid goes though with H.S. baseball, what Cutler is doing at this level is pretty much amazing, whether you like the guy or not. Agreed, this is the one thing I have always admired Cutler for. Unfortunately he is a giant doosh. If he was a decent guy he'd probably be the easiest player to root for in the NFL. You have to admit, he looks like a doosh. There isn't a more punchable face in the NFL. But getting this thread back on track...where is the Maclin announcement? Don't they know our fantasy teams are more important than any one player's health?

polecatt 485 Posted August 16, 2011 Any chance it's cancer? There are rumors of that but that's all they are right now. Rumors. Nothing reliable. It's been denied too so it's probably not true.
GridIronAssassin#1 0 Posted August 16, 2011 Deshaun Jackson is the known #1 and ready to play. Now, it seems to me Steve Smith (formerly of the Giants) will be the #2 man. This in itself can't be real good news for Maclin owners. Steve Smith won't get many touchdowns but he will get near 100 yards several times. If Brent Celek gets his share of the passes, there won't be much left for Maclin. Unless some fabulous news comes out on him, I'm not drafting him.
Larry David 20 Posted August 17, 2011 From Rotoworld..... The Eagles didn't give an update on Jeremy Maclin's (illness) status Tuesday, but GM Howie Roseman fully expects the receiver back in town when the team returns to NovaCare this weekend. "We totally anticipate Jeremy being part of our football team," Roseman said. "We anticipate him being back here shortly." Coach Andy Reid hinted that an announcement could still be forthcoming. "Today, right? Well possibly today," said Reid. "We have a few hours. ... We're still waiting for some tests to come in."
Kent 228 Posted August 17, 2011 Adam Schefter just reported on ESPN that they hope he's going to be able to be back by the start the year. That is not good. Maclin is on my do not draft list until I get two starting WRs. I hope he's alright. Seems like a good kid and he's got such a bright future in the NFL. So talented. jgcrawfish 232 Posted August 17, 2011 Per Rotoworld: Jeremy Maclin says he's now medically cleared Jeremy Maclin revealed to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer Wednesday that he's been medically cleared after "months" worth of tests for lymphoma, a form of cancer that affects the immune system. Mike FF Today 751 Posted August 17, 2011 Fox Sports Maclin's cancer test results are negative. Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is finally breaking his silence regarding his absence this NFL preseason, in exclusive interview with FOXSports.com. “That’s first and foremost, I want everyone to know I’m fine, I’m healthy,” Maclin said a mere hour after receiving word from his doctor that his final test came back negative. “I was tested for everything and every single test came back negative. I don’t have mono, I don’t have AIDS, leukemia, all the things people were guessing on, there was nothing. I was being tested for lymphoma and thank GOD everything has come back negative. “I wanted my privacy on this until I had answers. I don’t like to talk unless I have all the answers about what I’m talking about. It was frustrating to hear all the rumors about me. It wasn’t until this morning that I finally got my final answer and thankfully I’m healthy and ready to return to football.” As painful as the road was, his offseason finally found the joyful relief he was hoping for Wednesday afternoon when doctors called with the news that he was FINALLY in the clear. With news that cancer can be ruled out what was the cause of his mysterious ailment that has sidelined the Eagles wideout for all of training camp? “It was all caused by an inflammatory virus, something that just runs its course through your body or you can treat with medicine. I didn’t need medicine. It’s just something I had to deal with.”
montana 89 Posted August 17, 2011 My vote - Lyme Disease. Fever, fatigue, joint pain, loss of appetite, etc.... Just a guess & it's not always caught on the first test from my understanding.
bjsteel 34 Posted August 17, 2011 I hope he's ok, I drafted him this afternoon in the 6th rd as my #2 WR...I could get burned but hopefully it works out, I couldn't see him lasting any longer.

IGotWorms 4,063 Posted August 18, 2011 I'm not that keen on drafting a player who has to reassure everyone that he does not, in fact, have AIDS or cancer. Maybe Maclin is really right as rain and gets right back into the fold of things, but I think there's too much risk that this issue, whatever it is, lingers long into the season.
