Thanks man. I can definitely see TE being a weakness for me but I really think that Gronk can have a big year. I understand Brady spreads the ball very thin but I have a nagging feeling about it, coupled with the fact that he's been tearing it up in camp. I'm more worried about Romo, Best and Wells staying healthy

The Football Guru 214 Posted August 28, 2011 I haven't done any money league drafts yet, but in preparing for my upcoming ones, I was looking at some other high-dollar draft results tonight and was shocked to see Vick go in the second round in three of the 5-6 leagues I was looking at. Any thoughts on why this might be? In two of them, it was late second round. 12-team PPR and six points for all TDs. Other thoughts: CJ seems to be going between 1.9 and 2.2 in the drafts I'm looking at. Peyton Manning slipped into the sixth round of a draft done in a $500 league tonight. blackssmagic 0 Posted August 28, 2011 I do not post much at all, I spend more time reading around here than anything....with that said my draft was last night and there was a ton of head scratchers to say the least. I know I didnt get a kicker yet, it got so loud in the bar I couldnt hear anything, when I went to draft in the last round and Hightower was still out there I said screw it and took him instead. I will work a trade soon for something, and yes, these guys wanted to play for money. 10 team league, standard scoring from the second spot Eli Manning Kyle Orton Arian Foster Michael Turner Jahvid Best Legarrette Blount Tim Hightower Vincent Jackson Desean Jackson Mario Manningham Lance Moore Owen Daniels Todd Heap Lions Dallas
browns16-0 30 Posted August 28, 2011 Just got done with my 12 team 0.5 ppr league draft. 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 RB/WR 1TE 1K 1D Picked at # 2 slot. Vick surprisingly went first. I stuck to my guns though and rolled the dice with Rice. It's a work league, so semi-competitive, but a retarded owner or two as well. QB Peyton Manning (5) Matt Stafford (9) RB Ray Rice (1) Matt Forte (3) (This is probably the pick I want back the most. Not many RB options left, but I actually preferred Felix Jones, but couldn't pull the trigger.) Mark Ingram (7) Rashad Jennings (11) Ben Tate (12) Javon Ringer (14) WR Hakeem Nicks (2) Brandon Lloyd (4) Mario Manningham (8) (Didn't really want WR/WR from the Giants, but c'mon, how the hell did he fall this far?) Danny Amendola (10) (Again, not nearly as valuable as a full ppr, but great value again) TE Jermichael Finley (6) K Josh Brown (15) D New Orleans (13)

PATSSOX 22 Posted August 29, 2011 My draft started out so good i thought but i went down in flames after the first 3 rounds and my team sucks. 12 team #3 pick-NON-PPR, 6 pts for all TDs QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/FLEX/TE/K/DST QB-Romo(4), Stafford(7) RB-Rice(1), BJGE(5), Brandon Jacobs(8), Spiller(9), Ben Tate(10), DeMarcco Murray(13) WR-Calvin Johnson(2), Larry Fitzgerald(3), Steve Johnson(6), Mike Thomas(11) TE-Gonkowski(12), Greg Olsen(16) K-Henry(15) DST-Arizona(14) Instead of Romo and BJGE i could have taken Addai, Grant or Bennie Wells. Addai was taken right after i took Romo and Grant was taken next. I waited 4 rounds to pick another RB after i took Rice in 1st round. There were some really ridiculously bad picks in this draft, and defenses went way too early for me, which is why I got stuck with Atlanta, but I'm sure somebody on the WW will have a good enough year to be picked up. RSersen 0 Posted August 30, 2011 Drafted Saturday, I had the #10 pick. It was a one keeper league, I kept Charles. Standard scoring, PPR for WR/TE only. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 K. Results (Round Picked): QB: Romo (4), Fitzpatrick (10) RB: Charles (K), Mendenhall (1), D. Thomas (6), F. Jackson (8), Snelling (12) WR: Wayne (2), Dez (3), Harvin (5), Moore (9) TE: Winslow (7), Cook (11) DEF: Lions (13) K: Cundiff (14) Dropped Snelling for Antonio Brown after the draft. I guess it's alright. Happy with QB if Romo stays healthy. Very happy at RB, even if the depth is a little lacking. I always ended up behind the 8 ball at receiver, always having to pick after or during a run. Had to grab Wayne because all the WR1s were already gone or kept, and that panicked me into grabbing Dez a little too early. Hopefully Bryant lives up to his preseason hype, and Harvin can be an above average WR3 in PPR.
KOTN14 0 Posted August 30, 2011 I can't help but to feel very confident about my team. The league (8th year) is 12-teams, 2 keepers. It's 1 point PPR, .5 points per completion, 1 point 20 yards receiving, 1 point 50 yards passing, 1 point 10 yards rushing (new rule change, it was 1 point 20 yards in the past). We start QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, TE, WR/RB, WR/TE, K, Def. Had the 7th pick. 1. Ray Rice (keeper) 2. Peyton Hillis (keeper) 3. Larry Fitzgerald (RBs were the top 6 picks) 4. Jermichael Finley (I generally don't like reaching for guys, but I'm that high on Finley) 5. Dez Bryant 6. Mark Ingram 7. Kenny Britt 8. Sam Bradford (Another calculated reach, .5 per completion is huge with him, as well as development). 9. Ben Roethlisberger 10. Robert Meachem 11. C.J. Spiller 12. Rob Gronkowski 13. Rashad Jennings 14. Brandon Gibson 15. Lions Defense (I'm a believer) 16. Brian Robiskie (homer sleeper pick) 17. Kendall Hunter (lottery ticket) My only regret may be passing on Felix Jones to take Finley. I had Jones, Finley and Bryant marked as must-haves. Obviously, I could only choose two. Since I already had two strong RBs, went with my top TE and Bryant ended up falling back to me. Ingram fell to me in round six to make up for passing on Felix. Also, I guess another regret could be going Bradford over Stafford (who went the next pick). I still don't trust Stafford staying healthy. FWIW, I like running my team through footballguy's team rater every year to see what kind of odds they give for making the playoffs. They didn't even give my teams odds, just said "this team is a virtual lock to make the playoffs."

chroniciguana 13 Posted August 30, 2011 Twelve team, standard scoring, two keepers. Complete with boring analysis: MJD - Keeper Mendenhall - Keeper VJax (WR) - 3.1 Felix Jones (RB) - 4.12 DeAngelo Williams (RB) - 5.01 Austin Collie (WR) - 6.12 Wes Welker (WR) - 7.01 Matt Stafford (QB) - 8.12 Mike Tolbert (RB) - 9.01 Henery (K) - 10.12* Amendola (WR) - 11.01 Shiancoe (TE) - 12.12 Detroit (DST) - 13.01 MJD and Mendy were the best keeper options, although I thought about hanging on to Gates. Thought he might still be available at 4.12 so I let him go. He wasn't. With 24 players off the board, VJax was the best option for the first pick. And I was sorta dicking with the idea of pairing him with Gates(?). Jones was a good pickup at 4.12, though. Because I drafted on The Turn, there is no difference between 4.12 and 5.01, of course. Williams was the best available RB at 5.01 so I grabbed him. This is where things started to go off the tracks. Twenty-two players later I decided to draft the "same" guy twice. Collie at 6.12 and Welker at 7.01. Not a really terrible idea, but should have probably jumped on a TE at this point. I was OK with Stafford at 8.12 and Tolbert at 9.01 was about right. And I had him targeted as a late round pick. *Henery wasn't my 10.12 pick, but more on this. With 11.01 another potential bargain with Amendola. At 12.12 I woke up and realized I didn't have a TE, a DST or a K. And there were just two rounds left to go. Shiancoe and Detroit's DST got me two-thirds of the way there. So I dropped a WR I didn't really want (the commish gave his OK), waited for the draft to end and quietly made the first WW pickup of the season with Henery as my K so I would have a legal roster. Nobody squawked. If I need to, I can fix the TE and K with the WW prior to the first game. Just gonna wait and watch on these two. The Collie-Welker quinella sparked a lot of talk. And I'm not sure how or if I'm going to work this one. Also, drafting on The Turn is a whole different critter and it does affect strategy more than I thought it would. Starting Rosters: QB,RB,RB,WR,WR,RB/WR,TE,DEF,K,IDP,IDP,IDP,IDP 1-5: Lesean McCoy (RB) - could lead al RB's in my league in points due to PPR insanity 2-10: Shonn Greene (RB) - should be bell cow, we'll see 3-5: Matt Forte (RB) - Excellent in PPR leagues 4-10: Matt Ryan (QB) - Rodgers, Brees, Vick, Brady, Rivers, Romo, Manning, Schaub, Roethlisberger, Stafford all gone 5-5: Jermichael Finley (TE) - love this guy! 6-10: Percy Harvin (WR) - finished top 5 in WR's last year in my league due to return yardage/points 7-5: Plaxico Burress (WR) - a worthy risk, nabbed him just before others wanted him this round 8-10: Danny Amendola (WR) - was the #2 WR in my league last year due to return yardage + PPR machine 9-5: Kyle Orton (QB) - solid backup QB in a 14 team league, may even start him occasionally 10-10: Jacoby Ford (WR) - good for return points and big plays 11-5: Dexter McCluster (WR/RB in Yahoo!) - total wildcard again this year 12-10: James Harrison (LB) - not bad 13-5: Clay Matthews (LB) - bad pick for tackle heavy league 14-10: DeMarcus Ware (LB) - bad pick for tackle heavy league 15-5: Deangelo Hall (DB) - so-so pick, hope he gets picks 16-10: Chris Cooley (TE) - great backup TE! 17-5: Dallas (DEF) - no elite Defenses left on the board 18-10: Montario Hardesty (RB) - could be huge if Hillis gets cursed 19-5: Javon Ringer (RB) - could be serviceable depending on CJ2K contract 20-10: Josh Brown (K) - could be great w/ better offense and indoors, but who cares! Overall, I think I'll compete weekly. I have a more balanced team (including bench) than probably any other team. Week 8 is gonna be tough, though as I think 4 of my top 5 picks have their byes that week. I plan to drop half my IDP's and replace them with LB's who will get more tackles some time tomorrow. Just some quick math, 6x14, you didn't take WR until the 84th pick in the draft ?
CincinnatiDan 0 Posted August 31, 2011 This is what a 14 team WR crew looks like. Just some quick math, 6x14, you didn't take WR until the 84th pick in the draft ? You got it right. Here's my reasoning: 2010 Top 5 WR's (My League) Roddy White (265.75 points) Danny Amendola (250.25 points) Dwayne Bowe (237.50 points) Percy Harvin (234.75 points) Brandon Lloyd (231.60 points) Andre Johnson was 9th. The way I look at it, I got at least two top 10 WR's this year barring injury. Neither player's stats are expected to decline.
