Dexter McCluster

Recommended Posts

Am I missing something here? The Chiefs have been outscored 89-10 in two games this year. Against the Lions and the Bills.... 89-10.

I've always liked Thomas Jones and I think he still may have something left in the tank, but come on... The team is on pace to score 8 TDs all year (not to say that they won't get any better). How many of those will be rushing? How many of those rushing TDs will McClain vulture? Plus, they'll probably be playing from behind most of the year. That makes McCluster the more valuable option. Not too valuable, but he certainly has more upside.. Both guys are worth owning, just in case, but they will probably rot on your bench the entire year. There have got to be better bye-week fill-ins.

No one put a bid in on McCluster in one of my leagues, I just picked him up for free

If Dex gets just one score in any good game given his current numbers that makes him a decent RB2 or WR3 play. And his chances of scoring have gone up (maybe slightly) with Charles out.

and Marques Colston as a TE

Wasn't Kordell listed as QB/WR back in the "slash" days?

McCluster and Joe Webb ruined fantasy football.

Yes, I really hate that. Just because I had Joe Webb in week 16 last year and won the championship by less than 2 points, I don't feel good about it.

Now this? Dexter McCluster is clearly a running back and should be used as such. It's obvious he'll be able to put up decent wide receiver numbers on many matchups. The rule makers insist he can be used as wide receiver though. So, I'm forced to put Dexter McCluster on my team. I just dumped Jacoby Jones for McCluster. I really hate doing it because I know how the fantasy football community feels about it. It makes me sick to my stomach almost.

Honestly, shouldn't Sproles be listed as a WR by now?

Exactly. You guys crying about what position Yahoo or CBS sportsline puts them out is funny. Who cares. They were designated at a positon before the season started. Things change and dynamic players are used different ways.

Like any rule in fantasy football, it shouldn't be changed mid-season. You as owners, simply adjust.

Whole lot of whining over nothing.

Where did you read this? Interesting that Ray Lewis has commented on McCluster since they haven't played KC this year or last.

read blocks bro.

Now fantasy football is being more rooned by Denver and Tim Tebow. The guy now plays WR and I'm forced to play him at QB still. Even when he plays QB, he's really playing RB. He should have trilingual eligibility imo.

For me any RB that can be slotted as a WR is valuable - different leagues have differend rules/rosters/etc. - in my league, this "positional" advantage is huge.

Before J.Charles got hurt, McCluster was catching 4or5 passes a game and getting 6or8 rushes - we're talking about 11to13 "touches" or "targets".

Those should go up with the Charles injury - any WR on the ww getting 15"targets" a game would be gold.

I'm using a valuable ww move to pick him up and just hoping that slotting him as a WR will pay dividends - and all I really need is WR2 or better #s out of him and it's worth it.

"Dexter McCluster is the choice that aligns most similar to Charles’ skill sets. Though McCluster lacks the breakaway speed possessed by Charles, he’s just as shifty and can fit into many of the same personnel packages.

Following a productive preseason, McCluster has quietly become the Chiefs most productive offensive player through the first two games of the season. That’s not saying much considering the current state of the Chiefs, but McCluster’s offensive involvement is clearly heavier than it was a year ago when he bounced back and forth between slot receiver and running back.

Through two games, McCluster leads the Chiefs in rushing attempts (12), rushing yards (93), yards per carry (7.8), longest rush (24 yards) and receptions (9)."

He isn't Charles but in a PPR league, he could easily get you 10-15 points. Also, the dual position for him helps so much and could be a solid play in return yardage leagues.

Maybe, but they can't run an end-around on every play.

Personally, I hope he can get 6-8 pts a week with some regularity and the occasional TD. I'd be happy with that.

There is one reason I picked up McClusterfock this week.

I know, without any doubt in my mind, that Thomas Jones is the worst current starting running back in the NFL. This year he may be the worst starting running back in the history of the NFL.

That spells value for McCluster.

couple of things to add. First off, McCluster rarely saw the field last year. He was injured and had trouble adjusting to the pro game. Obviously I"m not sure about all leagues, but in CBS leagues, the guy is still listed as a WR. In a PPR league, 10-12 touches likely means a consistent 10 pts. The guy is my 5th WR and gets touches at RB and WR which are both surely going to go up a bit. He's a poor mans Sproles with some upside as he gets more playing time.

This right here.

So your league changed his eligebility during the season i guess?? I dont agree with that. In my opinion i think RB should be added to him not changed from WR to just RB. If the changed happened before the draft that would be fair but not after. :nono:

Haley: McCluster to get 10-14 touches a game Chiefs coach Todd Haley said Wednesday that Dexter McCluster should expect 10-14 touches per game on offense.

It makes him an intriguing pickup for PPR leaguers able to use McCluster in a wide receiver spot. McCluster was supposedly a slot receiver in 2010, so he's retained eligibility at that position in many leagues. As the favorite for receptions in the backfield for a Chiefs team that projects to play from behind so often, McCluster could flirt with Darren Sproles-type production. OMG I wasted my pick on McCluster and had to get rid of Cardinals DST, boohoo.

Plus McCluster is a WR and I might need him as my #3 in case Britt can't go, might need him on byes too. Unfortunately I lost Burleson, bad move on my part. Let him go ouch...Just dropped Floyd cuz of injury.

McCluster getting possibly 10+ carries plus maybe 5 targets as a WR = decent prospect for a #3 WR. Hope CBS keeps him as a WR as well.

A bit harsh, no?

Cedric Benson had a 3.5 YPC last year. Yet he had an ADP in the middle of the 6th round going into this year.

Thomas Jones hasn't had less than a 3.6 YPC since 2001.

Look, McCluster has been on my radar since the Chiefs drafted him last year. I had him on my fantasy roster for part of last year. I kept thinking "this guy could be PPR gold." But he never got many touches and even so he still got injured. Trust me, it will be more of the same this year. I'm just trying to let y'all know so you aren't too dissapointed when your shiny new waiver wire addition ends up being a dud.

Not the type of move I'd expect thePRO to make.

i was waffling, and wound up making a last-minute claim change from McC to jones. last-minute changes are always bad. i know this, and i did it anyway. now i'm suffering from a serious case of buyer's remorse.
