From CNN:

The announcement came hours after Maduro met with the country's top political and military leaders about Chavez's worsening health condition and suggested someone may have deliberately infected Chavez with cancer.

Infect someone with cancer? I hope this maduro guy isn't his successor. What a focken moron.

Slipping cancer into someone's wine, a time-honored method of assassination.

Apparently it wasn't just "someone". They are blaming the US  There was just a blurb on the news that they are ramping up military now or something.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-03-06/venezuela-vp-accuses-historic-enemies-of-plot-to-kill-chavez/4554962

Venezuela has accused its enemies of causing ailing president Hugo Chavez's cancer, and expelled two US military officers for plotting against his government.

Caracas lashed out against the opposition and the United States after announcing Mr Chavez had taken a turn for the worse and was struggling to breathe after contracting a new and severe infection.

Vice-president Nicolas Maduro confirmed the firebrand leader was facing "complications" and he warned Venezuela was living its "most difficult hours" since Chavez underwent cancer surgery on December 11.

"But our supreme responsibility is to keep telling our people the truth," Mr Chavez's hand-picked political successor said, surrounded by grim-faced officials.

Mr Maduro said he had no doubt a scientific commission would be formed and that it would reveal "Chavez was attacked with this disease ... the historic enemies of this nation looked for how to harm the health of our commander."

The government then announced it was expelling two US Air Force attaches, accusing them of contacting a Venezuelan military official to get information about the armed forces and to foment "destabilisation projects."

A US military spokesman said it was aware of the allegations and that the air attache, Colonel David Delmonico, was "en route back to the United States."

Dozens of people gathered from early morning at the Catholic chapel in the military hospital where the 58-year-old Mr Chavez has spent the past two weeks.

Some prayed aloud, while others wept quietly.

In downtown Caracas, some loyal "Chavistas" took to the streets, blowing whistles and horns.

Mr Chavez has not appeared in public since he returned to Venezuela last month, after being treated for cancer in Cuba.

That was his fourth operation since the disease was detected in his pelvic area in mid-2011.

I dunno, is it really so hard to believe the US would try to off Chavez? Isn't it established that we made numerous attempts on Fidel's life back in the day?

Of course, I imagine Chavez had a lot of enemies, even within Venezuela. So even if he were poisoned or something it doesn't mean we did it.

But then again if it was just run of the mill cancer then it's pretty hard to point the finger elsewhere, no?

I wonder if this will alter the operation of the citgo oil refineries? The one that i sometimes work at is in terrible condition and ready to blow up soon.

When i got in the trade, 7 1/2 years ago people said some of the units had to be replaced within the year or risk complete failure. Fast forward to now, they are still running off the same shltty equipment.

I dont think thats the point. The point is how are we going to slip him some cancer on the sly?

I edited my post right as you were posting. It's a good point, although I honestly don't know whether it's possible to trigger cancer in someone. Seems like something you'd see in the movies but who knows? :dunno:

Blame the USA - Why Not? Everything else is our fault. I couldn't believe what I saw when I read that. Give me a focking break.

"There's no doubt that Commandante Chavez's health came under attack by the enemy," Vice President Nicolas Maduro said in an address to the nation from the presidential palace

"The old enemies of our fatherland looked for a way to harm his health,'' according to Maduro, drawing a parallel to the illness and 2004 death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, which some supporters blamed on poisoning by Israeli agents.

He said a special commission would investigate how Chavez, 58, ended up with the unspecified cancer that months of chemotherapy and radiation and four surgeries failed to tame.

Wrong assertion dumbass. I don't give a fock who Chavez endorsed, because he was a POS dictator. What I want is a link to the Obama Administration supporting Chavez. THAT would be newsworthy.

When you give me the links I have been asking for I will reciprocate.

1. Link to proof that ALL hamburgers are bad for you.

2. Link to the numbers that show almost all government corruption and waste is in the military.

In the meantime you can stay stupid.

I've been playing a Venezualan at Chess.com for about 8 years now. Based on many conversations we've had over the years, the only Venezualans who liked Chavez were the poor. The rest of the population (upper and middle class) all despised him and the heir apparent is considered equally as bad - not surprising. The government is totally corrupt and has nationalized big companies and seized private properties over the years. We just happen to be in the middle of a game right now and a couple hours ago he wrote "now we head into the future... or the abyss."

Sucks for people who have to live in that system.

Huh, another thread turns into a lefty/righty circle-jerk. I, for one, am shocked.

What else would you expect when a left wing leader dies?
