I wouldn't consider Karate Kid, Gremlins, Goonies, etc. in the cheesy category. When I think cheesy 80's, I think Road House, Tango and Cash, Commando, etc. Basically anything with Swayze, Scwartznegro and Stallone (sans Rocky).

Spielberg 80s movies were good....except that movie Batteries Not Include. Turribull.

Pretty much everything 80's was cheesy on some level. All the John Hughes movies anything with John Cusack. Lloyd Dobbler was my hero.

I'm remembering gremlins cause I just saw it.... All the goofy 80's kitchen gadgets stad out. Things that just make you chuckle remembering the neighbor that had the juicer or whatever as kid.

Watched Vision Quest the other night with my daughter. :)

I would argue that this movie more than almost any other dawned the era of the "soundtrack CD".

Best soundtrack I can think of. :headbanger:

Absolutely. It was awesome. When Loudon Swain was in the warm up room before his match with Shute, and Lunatic Fringe started playing, it actually made me want to wrestle. Lots of great songs in that movie.

Over the Top is streaming on Netflix.

80s movies were awful.

I never understood why he always waited to do that trick where he moves his thumb past his middle finger. If he started off with it, he would have won all his matches in 5 seconds and probably avoid major wrist issues when is is in his 60's.

Not sure what year it was, but let us not forget "Summer School" with Mark Harmon and some uber hot chick that was later on some sitcom with (imagine this) a stupid, fat white guy. - Something "jim".

She played jail bait. And it was a pretty damn good movie.

for being a bad movie.

There were a couple of other smokin' hotties on there too.

I've mentioned this before, I actually went to the HS where they filmed Can't Buy Me Love, WHILE they were filming it.

First Revenge of the Nerds? Also filmed in Tucson. I was in Jr. High back then, was filmed on the University of Arizona campus.

Tucson High, class of 88.

Oh you wanna know more details? I know all the extras in that movie, they are people I went to HS with.

They wanted me to be in the movie ... coolest looking punk rocker at the school. SAG actually not only picketed the non union shoot, but sent representatives to the art and drama classes ... all pro union, with the threat that if we were involved we may never be eligible for a SAG card.

I was already eligible. Suppose I still am ... but today? I'm really pissed off that I am not in that movie. I'm pissed that I can't hit freeze frame and say, "That's me!" .... and McDreamy?

It was all bullshiat

Empty threats, that likely prevented some talented drama students from being involved. SAG may have actually made it harder, for young actors in Tucson to get a break.

Fock SAG.
