Yeah, I agree ... the info on Hurns week 1 was available to anyone, but did you advocate starting him? Did you put your prestine reputation on the line, with a call like that? No ... i do my homework. taliaferro shocked the hell outta everyone .... Ebron was ... I had to call a new guy, best I could, come up with. Dude, come on over to the mange bored. Nobody there is gonna get mad at you for your analysis. Maybe you will open some people eyes ... share what you are learning, brotha. Or just sit here and discount all the work I did. Voltaire 5,491 Posted October 10, 2014 There is quite a bit of pressure, oil rigs are very expensive to operate, anywhere between 50,000 dollars a day for a land drilling rig to over 1 million dollars a day to operate a deepwater rig in the gulf of mexico. There can be lots of stress when things go wrong because of the money at stake. There can also be incredibly long hours, a normal workshift is working 12 hours a day every day for 2 weeks in a row. But it can be longer, I worked as a "fluids engineer" when I worked on the rig, and since I was the only one, if they were problems with the fluid systems I was expected to work however long it took to get the problem fixed, even if that means working 30 hours with only a nap here or there. The benefit is everyone is paid pretty well. Even someone starting out with only a highschool education can start at 70,000 a year and can hit 150,000 a year when they get some experience. There are not many jobs that can give a highschool grad 6 figure pay and 26 weeks of vacation a year. Daggone, I'll keep this in mind. I'd rather my son do this for a stint than the Army like I did. Voltaire 5,491 Posted October 10, 2014 Here's something that I have in mind and maybe you'd be willing to help me with it. While I've been in Detroit visiting my mom, I've been in contact with various local Catholic schools and expensive private schools because some rich Chinese parents I know want to send their kids to the US for HS. I've also been in contact with summer camps. So what my wife and I can do: we can dig up Chinese parents/kids with money that want to come to the US to study or attend summer camps. then try to navigate the paperwork to get them over to the US. We'd need somebody in the US to coordinate stuff on the this end. Find schools, find host families (they'd get paid by the parents), do background checks on families, check in on the kids once a week, just coordinate sh*t and be on the other end of a phone call to solve problems. We've made contacts here in Michigan. Could look at doing something like that in San Diego, depending how things happen. There's bound to be some legal bullsh*t as well, maybe one of our fake lawyers could help.

WhiteWonder 2,927 Posted October 11, 2014 Real talk here. im 32, didnt go to college, work a 15 an hour job working from home. Going nowhere in life basically. I live in beautiful san diego, have a fiancee, drive a brand new car, pay all my bills and eat out plenty. I have a thousand dollar pc, new iphone, new clothes, its really not hard to do these things even on a meager 15 bucks an hour. All thats great, but theres no room for variance. If I break my arm I couldnt afford health care to fix it. I have no savings obviously since 15 an hour is taking home 21k a year or something like that. I am very smart but have no training or job skills of any value. Im just spinning my wheels pointlessly. I know its all relative and there are prob guys here that make 100k a year yet are broke and clip coupons. If I made even 70k a year id be strutting around in a fur coat with a rolls royce, thats just way more money than I could ever imagine making in a year. How do I break out of the rut and do something with myself? I have excellent credit but no collateral. Its just annoying spinning on the hamster wheel with nothing to look forward to. Also im lazy, have zero motivation and have no passion for anything besides fantasy football. become a magic the gathering guru?
WhiteWonder 2,927 Posted October 11, 2014 in all seriousness, Tanatastic.... if i believe what you're saying about every aspect of your life, what you have, where you live, etc etc..... it sounds like you are reasonably intelligent, manage your finances very well and have good credit and such. The issue is either laziness or simply a lack of knowing what you WANT to do. I've been there and in a sense am still there. If you really want to earn more, I would suggest seeking out a career counselor of sorts. Not a recruiting/job placement company.... Im talking about an actual counselor/psychologist type who specializes in career counseling. Seek them out and attempt to figure out what you would be happy/comfortable doing. I say this because I think if you had a job you were excited about, you wouldn't mind venturing out of your comfort zone which seems to be working at home in your underwear for a wage that allows you to get by. thats fine but if you wan't to make more $$, you're going to have to face facts that you won't be able to continue that lifestyle. Saying you're lazy is a cop-out. So you might as well seek help in figuring out what type of career will be satisfying for you. some people live to work and some people work to live. You are obviously a work to live person. But you want to live better than you currently are. So you need to figure out what type of job will be fun for you or even just tolerable as a means to your specific end. those who went to college and end up with debt and no job are those who either went to college because all their friends were and they didn't want to miss out on the "college experience" aka non stop partying, or those who worked hard but simply didn't know what they wanted to do afterward (that was me, luckily I had little to no debt thanks to scholorships and paying off my loans quickly). If you really love working from home for $15/hr and just want a few hundred dollars a month extra (i dont think this is really what you want) but Amazon has this work program.. i think you basically take surveys and do mindless internet work. I dont have any experience with it but my brother used it during college and afterward while he was looking for his teaching job.

In all honestly every word of my post is true (didn't think people would say otherwise, there's nothing controversial) and I posted it with a 50/50 intention. 50 to get real input and 50 to just give the geek club a fun thread to rip me apart and do what the geek club does. become a magic the gathering guru?At one point 7yrs or so ago I sort of was. I'd travel around for major tournaments. Seems like a silly kids game but there's a very large pro circuit and most pros are well into their 20s.

WhiteWonder 2,927 Posted October 11, 2014 also, if you claim to spend most of your time jacking off and posting at FFToday, what is stopping you from keeping your 15/hr work from home job and finding another work from home opportunity? Even if it's for low pay, another minimum wage work from home would boost you up near 25/hr.... you could improve your lifestyle while keeping it the same in a sense. That is, if you truly spend most of your "work time" jerking around. I mean, I always have FFToday and various other sites open on my phone browser while im at work but I generally have to be discreet about how much time im spending on my phone. I don't have the luxury of taking on a 2nd job because i slack off a bunch at work (even though I do).

I did redo the floor in the kitchen, basement, and garage. I still haven't put the trim or doors back on though, and this happened back in Feb. I have a great union job that requires hard work if I want to stay employed consistently. My advice: If you can be motivated on the job at least get into a trade. I am a pipefitter in Chicago. It is harder to find unions and if you are in the south unions are few and far between. Or, learn how to weld. We have non union contractors in the region also. If you can x-ray weld you will make at least $36/hour. No bennies really but it is considerably higher than 15/hour.

Frozenbeernuts 2,332 Posted October 12, 2014 Welding is very bad for you Not really. It depends on what is being welded. Hexavalent chromium has been found to cause nervous system problems, but thats with stainless or chrome. Regular carbon steel is fine. I have done research and asked doctors if they have seen ill affects with their patients that weld. The answer was no.

There are some toxicities of heavy metals and other risks from occupational exposure in welding, but they aren't common enough to rule it out as a career IMO. MLCKAA 586 Posted October 14, 2014 If I am to believe you, then here is some legit advice. Get a call center job. Insurance and financial institutions all have call centers operating in the US and all will offer some opportunity for advancement within the call center and out of the call center into the more desirable parts of the company. Major retailers also have call centers in the US, though you have to be careful/picky about what position you take with a retailer. Call center jobs with insurance, banks and major retailers can definitely lead to legitimate secure careers. I know several people who are gainfully employed and kicking @ss at life who started out taking calls in an insurance company call center.
