Adrian Peterson - Agrees To Plea Deal

Recommended Posts

justice is the only thing that i want to see happen

I agree, a child beater getting to play by week 11 while a guy who smoked pot is out until week 12. That sounds about right for today's NFL.

Well, if I were Goddell I would give him the 6 game suspension effective Week 11 with the previous time being noted that AP was paid and not suspended but exempted. Since he was paid up to this point, how was he punished? He can't blame the NFL for lost endorsements.

Interesting, that will give Vikngs the opportunity to play him in playoff.

Free Josh Now! Just a kid smokin' a little weed man... ease up Brother... get wide

Ha ha... :ninja: Could definitely put Josh to work... If Peterson plays... there is no fair justice.

Three leagues.... Josh on 3 rosters (9/0, 7/2, 7/2)... Free Josh!!

I was 10th out of 10 and still got him!

I was 12th in one league and got him. Shocked. People picking up bye week starters helped. Of course, me having him in 4/5 leagues now means he won't play at all this year!

I would think they could impose a penalty of lost pay for 6 games, and time served for games missed, and let him play immediately.

Goddell is treading lightly on this and stated he wouldn't let the Courts dictate his punishment. If he essentially just fines him at this point, it will look like a slap on the wrist.

IMO he gives him more time off or they drag their feet for a few more weeks.

I know, I'm almost sensing I overpaid in FAAB, I threw down the whole remaining budget.

How much was that? I got him for just over 1/10th of my budget. I was shocked!

they should revisit his reinsatement after he completes his 80hrs of community service

His 80 hours should be spent in the trauma ward of the Children's Hospital applying salve to abused children's wounds. :dunno:

I'm speculating just like everyone else.....but I'm not so concerned with what the league will do....from what I understand, further punishment would be above and beyond the CBA.

I think the holdup will be from the Vikings...and the image hit it may take.

But....I like turtles.

How is it above and beyond the CBA? The NFL can pull the "conduct not becoming of the NFL" whenever it wants. He did pretty much admit to being a child beater right?

I wouldn't think Roger would do anything to have people pist at him like most people were a few months ago. So what if a few fantasy owners are upset? Not a whole lot of people hoping he comes back. Viqueens aren't going anywhere why waste a potential high draft pick?

Is the public really going to throw a hissy fit over this again? He's gotta play again someday anyway so there will be a few nutjob protesters now or later anyway.

You saw what happened to Ray Rice case when you mess up the first time. He wouldn't want to repeat that.

That is true but look how much this has calmed down since the beginning of the season. I think there would be real incentive to let it stay quiet unti next year. Plus from a Vikings standpoint are you really going to take on the negative press just to get your aging hero a couple games?

They're 1.5 games out of a wild card spot...

Your aging hero? Did you mean to say "best player"? Yes, I think the Vikings would like their best player available again.

"Rapoport notes that Peterson has been paid while on the Commisioner's/Expempt list, and that does not count as discipline. That means any suspension would be on top of what he has already "served" on the exempt list."

most people think he'll receive a huge fine that would cover about six game checks without sitting out any more games

Link? Who are these "most people"?

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Adrian Peterson's paid leave is "not considered discipline" by the NFL, and that a suspension "looms."

We're actually not so sure about this, as there's been chatter Peterson could reach a settlement with the NFL where he gains credit for time served and pays a fine, thereby making his previous suspension paid. Either way, Rapsheet reports it "could be weeks" before the matter is resolved. We'd guess Peterson plays football again this season, but it's unclear when.

I threw down the last $7, I'm thinking it could have been as low as $4. I had been holding that in reserve for taking the last few cherries off the top during the playoffs over the far majority of owners in competition in a good league who are at zero. Some other teams, maybe 3 or so, have been saving their bucks and I had no shot at keeping up if they bid. It occurred to me that some might not believe he could not come back and that was the case. They may end up right in the end. Those last few bucks can be a very nice advantage vs the right teams so it was a sacrifice, but the magnitude of the payoff was too huge to ignore. It also occurred to me it was worth it to be sure he would not land somewhere else and face him later.

Rap actually says, "days, maybe weeks" and the length of time depends on AP's responsiveness to requests. My guess is he will very responsive and very prompt.

Could be days, could be weeks.

Right, as it stands now, he has not been disciplined. The fact that he has been paid means that he has not been disciplined. So if he loses pay, he will be disciplined.

i still think he should serve his 80hr community service time before any talk of reinsatement

Ah.............I appear to have guessed correctly.

This guy is going to stew for this week and late next week they'll let Peterson know he gets at least 4 additional games suspended. He MAY be back for Week 15 or 16.

Bank on it............

this is exactly right. Goddell is determined to keep AP off the field, and Minn is likely quietly happy to let Goddell drag this out.

Look for a lot of obfuscation and delays from the NFL over next couple weeks, then a modest suspension that will end right as the season is basically over.

Count on it. NFL is determined to win on this one.

What are owners of McKinnon and Asiata thinking about doing right now? Do we try and trade them while we still can? Do we wait and see what happens? I had such high hopes for McKinnon for the second half of the season but between getting vultured by Asiata and AP possibly back (as soon as next week?!) I'm getting a little worried about him...

Im holding McKinnon and AP. The way I think of it, at least one will have good value.

Tried offering McK to ADP owner and no bite

Same here. Also since it is a keeper league, AP might look pretty good running behind that Dallas o-line next season, it Jerra decides he can't afford both Dez and Murray.

I'd rather have McKinnon in my PPR redraft. He's pretty solid and I just dont see AP playing anytime soon. I just took him because I have space and don't want to get burned by another team if he does come back.

Stay salty, non-AP owner.

Not really trying to be salty, but I think it's fools gold in trying to get him right now unless it's a dynasty league.

I guess that if you are hurting this year with your team then why not try and get him with the hope that he could make a difference.

I still don't get the hype. :dunno:
