Primanti Bros in pittspuke

Good sammich...nothing earth shattering.

it would be a fine deli - if they didn't insist on lukewarm, watery cole slaw dousing cold thick fries in slaw water - and lumping that all onto what quickly becomes wet white bread.

Any of you been to some of those restaurants they feature on tv shows like Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives? I love eating good food and wish I could do a show of my own where I just travel around and eat food like Guy Fieri or the guy off of Man vs Food. A couple restaurants here in San Antonio have been featured on them such as Dough pizzeria, Moroccan Bites, and LuLus cafe (they have 5 pound cinnamon rolls) that I have eaten at and would recommend to anyone.

im surprised you dont own 7 of them

Nice. I want to go to Chicago to eat at Richard Blaise's restaurant.

In response to Bier Meister, are you talking about Central Grocery when you recommend "Central Market"? Their Muffaletta is great, but you had better get there before 11:00 a.m. if you don't want to stand in line forever.

Next time you are in New Orleans, there are a few spots I would recommend in addition to those you listed (I've been to all from the post above and your previous post with the exception of Antoine's). I'd try Jacques Imo's (was on Bourdain's show), Dat Dog on Frenchmen (this has been on DDD, I think), Restaurant R'evolution, Cochon and Herbsaint (Both of these Donald Link restaurants were featured in an Andrew Zimmern show about Link's commitment to farm-to-table). Also, Mothers and the Bon Ton Cafe are very near each other and each worth a visit -- both have been featured on Food Network. Have the ham at Mothers and the crawfish et touffe at Bon Ton. Bon Ton has plastic checkered tablecloths and waitresses who have worked there for decades. Acme Oyster House has been featured on Food Network, but Felix's across the street is better and less crowded. Cafe Amelie was also on a Bourdain episode and is excellent. I think Susan Spicer, the chef at Bayona, was on Top Chef Masters. It is an excellent choice for a romantic dinner.

And you truly have not lived until you've gone to Willie Mae's Scotch House in the 7th Ward for the best fried chicken on the planet. It is the one restaurant in New Orleans that many foodies do not visit because it is out of the way. Bourdain also visited this spot. For another out-of-the way treat, go to Toups Meatery (Top Chef Isaac Toups). We ate there one night last spring on our way to a night of zydeco at Rock-n-Bowl. Any carnivore will love it.

When I worked in Hackensack, NJ, I went to White Manna quite often for burgers at lunch. Then, it was on DDD, and the line, which was already long, became 3x longer. Now, working in NY, I've been to many places featured on TV, so I won't even go there, but I will give one last recommendation on TV restaurants -- Go have some smoked meat at Schwartz deli in Montreal -- this place is a regular stop on shows like DDD and is very unique.

i believe that there are still a decent amount of restaurants omitted from that site that i have visited. just cannot place them.

i am sure i have been to more in colorado, new york, las vegas, maui, and san francisco that are not mentioned and i cannot recall the show.

and i have a love/hate for bourdain. he did a show about sf. he mentioned quite a few of my places.... they then became very crowded and changed the atmosphere. so.... he was correct to mention them, just ruined it for the local who liked to go.

Primanti brothers I was not impressed with. Coleslaw on everything and fries on the sandwich...absolute mess. Must be a pittsburgh thing. Dump your whole picnic plate on a sammich.

Chaps pit beef in Bodymore. It was really good.

There's a Chaps by me in MD. The first few times the ribs were pretty good. The last time they sucked.

I actually have. I decided to go to DC to hit up Toki Underground which is a ramen restaurant above a bar called The Pug. It was phenomenal.

I live a short walk from a place called Memphis Taproom thats been on DDD several times. The atmosphere and food are awesome but the menu is kind of limited.

Once went to Lucys BBQ also on DDD. Im sure it was great but I will be honest: I like grilling and cookouts but dont love BBQ restaurants.

Going to Cape May next week and May try to hit a few places in the area.

We went to a DDD place in Stockton called Gian's Deli. It was supposed to be an authentic Italian deli. They had some hard to find items like 00 flour, cannellini beans and a sh!t ton of olive oil in a little grocery section. Being it was billed as "authentic Italian" I ordered a couple of slices of their pizza of the day. Meh. I make better pizza at home. Theirs reminded me of what I used to get in grade school.
