2015 All-Star Ballot Updates...

Recommended Posts

MLB Commish "open to change" voting process of all-star selection. Looks like fan voting won't mean as much after this year. Kudos to all the KC voters for ruining the process

Thanks Kansas City ass holes

It's one thing for a fanbase to rally together to try to get a star having a great season into the starting lineup. But when they are stuffing the boxes to get .200 hitters voted in, they've officially ruined the system. Jerk offs

A viral movement carries consequences. It can spark outrage among a public apparently unable to conquer the All-Star Game system as Kansas City fans have. It could force the Royals to dole out $500,000 in incentives to a second baseman they may actively try to replace in the coming weeks...

The boomerang of unintended consequences could also affect Kansas City’s payroll. If Infante plays in the All-Star Game, it triggers a bonus clause in his contract. He would earn an extra $250,000 in both 2016 and 2017. The extra dollars would only salt the wound created by Infante’s four-year, $30.25 million deal.

KC 'fans' costing their team a nice chunk of money.

and Infante's been our worst player this year. Still, #voteroyals

You guys do realize this isn't like it's the Kansas city fans making this happen, but rather the buzz they have created across the country from last year's run and this season's success, right? There's only so many of us true fans out there, although I did already get my 30 votes in way before all this crap started.

You are on crack if you think that people all over America were voting all Royals for a month and a half before the media made a thing of it because they somehow won the hearts of the nation. If that kind of nonsense logic was legit, the 1992 All-Star Game would have been Twins vs Braves, and the Phillies and Rockies would have dominated lineups at different times in the past decade. This is a product of two things: an online voting system that has no validation requirements to restrict people from only using one e-mail address per person, and a ton of bandwagoner fans who couldn't be bothered to vote any of these guys from 'their' team in last year (assuming they could even NAME the players on their team before their World Series run).

In 1992 you voted by punching out holes on a little card when you went to the ballgame. KC, in one of the smaller markets in the country is not doing this on their own my frined.

You don't seem to understand the whole concept of "you can vote an unlimited amount of times", do you? Are you really so conceited/delusional to believe that the Royals are obliterating voting records because they managed to convince all of America to vote for all of their players? C'mon, man. Royals' fans were working the system for well over a month, before it became a big media story. NOW there are people all over who are starting to vote Royals simply for the sake of trolling.

Uh, no they're not. i think its safe to say that most people filling out for the royals and trolling and trying to complete the joke. MLB should have recognized this and stopped the unlimited voting.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1957_Major_League_Baseball_All-Star_Game

When fan voting to determine the game's starters was completed, seven Cincinnati Redlegs players (Ed Bailey, Johnny Temple, Roy McMillan, Don Hoak, Frank Robinson, Gus Bell and Wally Post) had been elected to start in the All-Star Game; the only non-Redleg elected to start for the National League was St. Louis Cardinal first baseman Stan Musial. Most baseball observers agreed that while the Redlegs were known to be a great offensive team with many outstanding position players, they did not deserve seven starters in the All-Star Game.

An investigation launched by Commissioner Ford Frick found that over half of the ballots cast came from Cincinnati, with the Cincinnati Enquirer printing up pre-marked ballots and distributing them with the Sunday edition of the newspaper to make it easy for Redlegs fans to vote often for their favorite players, while stories emerged of bars in Cincinnati refusing to serve alcohol to customers until they filled out a ballot.

Frick appointed Willie Mays of the New York Giants and Hank Aaron of the Milwaukee Braves to substitute for Bell and Post, and to strip the fans of their voting rights; Bell was kept as a reserve, while Post was injured and would have been unable to play in any event. Managers, players, and coaches picked the entire team until 1970, when the vote again returned to the fans, and to avoid a repeat of this incident, MLB officials evenly distributed the 26 million ballots to 75,000 retail outlets and 150 minor and major league stadiums, while a special panel was also created to review the voting.

At least it basically guarantees NL gets homefield advantage

I hope it costs KC homefield advantage and they lose in the bottom of the 10th of game 7.

And according to toofy, America falls into a deep depression, often compared to the assassination of a president and 9/11. Pearl Harbor is bumped off the day of infamy list.

Seriously. There is a strong argument that Escobar isn't even a top two SS in the AL right now, and Morales is only a valid option if you think it is okay for an all-star team to carry two or three designated hitters.

There you have it. MLB's system is as secure as Internet Explorer and someone spent all of twenty minutes figuring out how a person can spam votes without wasting time manually clicking on everything.

I will stick to me theory that MLB will "correct" the voting at the last minute to avoid embarrassment. They will get their media attention for a month, then alter the vote totals before the final count to counter-act the sheer retardedness of things like Omar Infante starting.

So if Infante earns a bonus for making it, and the commish boots him out, does he get the bonus? I smell a grievance coming.

Kansas city is so head and shoulders above anyone else that all of those guys are the absolute best at their positions this year? lol Are you kidding me?

Because of your teams' retarded fanbase, the fans will lose the right to vote after this season. Way to go

Don't question the knowledge and dedication of all those Day One Royals fans. It isn't like they were ranked 25th or lower in attendance every season between 2004 and 2014 (they went big in 2003 and ranked 22nd). They are a sleeping giant of people who are baseball savvy and just chose not to show it until their team reached the World Series.

cmh is wrong. There are a shizz ton of bandwagon fans in KC. They all jumped off the Chiefs bandwagon and onto the Royals last fall.

Can't really blame them. They have nothing else to root for. Denver is no better and neither are most cities. Shame on true baseball fans not voting the players in that deserve to be there.

One other thing about all the KC votes that I haven't seen mentioned is KC's fan base consists of no less than 5 states because of their location and the states Iowa,Nebraska,Kansas and Arkansas have no team in their state.

If I can make it out for the 4th, can I get a late fireworks hookup?

For ESPN and the NE US twats bitching about the all star ballot. ICON: Puke down and across the page.

I doubt is just Royals fans voting for the Royals this year.

1) Royals were in the World Series last year and have played well this year.

2) Media market wise, KC is a small market. So, it is indicative of poor teams in larger markets like New York and Los Angelos.

3) Ease of which to vote. Once you set your ballot, is fairly easy to vote in your allotment. I cannot recall if a daily limit or a season limit on voting.

4) Yankees suck.or not competitive/dominate

5) Red Sox suck or not competitive/dominate

Most likely reason, is we are in a star transition period couple with older stars just not performing as they had in the past.

Last, who cares.

Don't take sports too seroiusly.

Enjoy the moment while it happens.

If you cannot do that, ignore it and enjoy that moment instead.

Except I didn't vote and think it's laughable that guys like Infante and Rios have a shot at going.

As for fireworks,no problem, just remember the earlier the better for selection because the 3rd and 4th here are pure madness.

http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2015/6/19/8811347/mlb-all-star-game-royals-votes

On Thursday, MLB Advanced Media CEO Bob Bowman announced the cancellation of between 60 and 65 million ballots for the upcoming All-Star Game. The decision was made after Royals fans (and probably other fans looking to create chaos) exploited the online voting system earlier this week, putting a total of eight Kansas City players in line to start for the American League.

it's typical for them to remove votes as I've seen media members who follow the royals mention, so it likely won't have much impact on the position of royals players. Also, we've had a lot of fans like me and zoner who have followed the team, watching countless games during losing season. We aren't unlike many of you fans who follow other teams. There is a lot of excitement and "bandwagon" fans who have been more active and excited lately, but for many, many of us this wait has been a long time coming and it isn't like we just started showing up now because the royals are winning.

The "corrections" I predicted are happening a little earlier than I expected. There will still be a few awful joke starters, but not enough to completely humiliate the league. Surprise, surprise.
