Tom Brady will NOT accept a deal - No games or bust

Recommended Posts

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13348224/judge-encourages-nfl-nflpa-settle-differences-tom-brady-case-litigation

A U.S. District Court judge on Thursday ordered the NFL and NFL Players Association to try to resolve their differences over New England Patriotsquarterback Tom Brady's suspension without litigation.

Judge Richard M. Berman, who has been assigned to the Brady case, also suggested the sides "tone down their rhetoric."

In an order filed Thursday in the Southern District of New York, Berman wrote: "While this litigation is ongoing, it is appropriate (and helpful) for all counsel and all parties in this case to tone down their rhetoric."

He added: "If they have not already done so, the parties and counsel are directed forthwith actively to begin to pursue a mutually acceptable resolution of the case.

"The earth is already sufficiently scorched, the Court's view."

Judge tells both to shut up and work it out.

2 games? Both can say they stood their ground but wanted to move forward.

Unless ol Tom just won't back down.

I don't think the judge will rule well for him though.

He basically just said...CBA seems to allow what happened...you all work this crap out rather than crowding his courtroom.

The year Payton was suspended is what I'm referring to. As a season ticket holder, I got fawked/punished. When your Super Bowl winning head coach gets tossed for a year and your GM gets suspended half a year, your year is shot. When your MVP Super Bowl winning QB doesn't have his coach on the sidelines and in the locker room, the year is shot. We also lost two second round picks. Our team was in their prime. The year before we were one play away from beating SF and hosting the Giants in the NFC Championship game. We gutted them at home earlier that year. We were rolling.

I watched the games that year. I watched them struggle. I watched them miss the playoffs. I felt cheated. As a die hard fan, I was punished also.

Sure, the penalty was stiff. It had to be. With lawsuits brought about by former players saying the league didn't do enough to protect their well being, you had to make sure nothing like that ever happened again. So Payton caught the brunt of that.

But even if Saints fans have a gripe, not sure Pats fans do. Spygate didn't hurt them. Deflategate didn't hurt them before the SB and Brady's suspension isn't gonna kill their year. They'll be there when it matters most. They always are.

And Goodell botched the Rice case....but not sure Ravens fans were punished. Nor were Vikings or Panther fans.

Just don't see how these penalties are hurting the fans more than the teams.

Actually, to speak to the all the owners love Roger Goodell issue. No, they don't. Some of you short-sighted ###### forget there had to be 4, count it, 4 Votes before Roger got enough votes To be elected commissioner.

Not exactly The people's mandate.

They love him now...because he takes the crap and heat off of them.

Nobody talks about how the Ravens wanted leniency and would have done nothing to Rice (nor our criminal justice system).

All rules people don't like get blamed on Goodell...even though many come from the teams and competition committee.

Stuff like that over and over.

The owners end up with almost zero blame and he takes the heat.

They love him right now.

and in this whole dynamic, Robert Kraft has been a powerful, influential advocate for Goodell - here we go again with the jealousy thing... there are a lot of owners out there that don't like Kraft being the "favorite son" of Goodell... so now we have a inept commish, who's on the brink of losing his job with any other mistakes, and is now catering to the majority to "prove" how unbiased and capable he is.

His genius plan:

  • Leak inaccurate information to the espn to begin shaping public opinion (11 of 12 footballs under-inflated", Kensil to Mort)
  • over reach on punishment for an equipment violation that may or may not have happened (standard punishment is $25k fine)
  • commission an "independent" report that is agenda-driven from the get-go and then edited by the NFL before its release
  • assure the fined owner that if he just takes this unjust medicine and forgoes a lawsuit, everyone can move on
  • Leak more inaccurate information "destroyed his cell phone" to shape public opinion further before suspending Brady and filing a law suit.
  • Get to the court and be told by the judge to "figure it out and tone down the rhetoric" which is almost EXACTLY, VERBATIM what Kraft said he was doing when he begrudgingly accepted the absurd punishment for a possible equipment violation.

Are you saying that Brady didn't destroy his cell phone? What did I miss?

Doesn't matter to him.

BTW...several teams have had "bounty" programs.

Packers had one to keep Peterson under 100 yards. League learned about it...said to stop.

They stopped.

NO was told to stop...they kept doing it. Just focking stupid....and then whine when they get punished for not listening.

how important do you think that part of it is???

the NFL's leaked headline/story implies that Brady "destroyed" his cell phone to prevent it from being used as evidence.

The Wells report and Brady claim that is not true.

Do you think Brady destroyed his cell phone to hide incriminating evidence?

:dunno:

Yes. There's nothing implied. He destroyed it, plain and simple.

I did answer it. The first word inmy reply was Yes. Why else would someone destroy a perfectly good phone?

-11 of 12 were underinflated...the only misinformation was the amount.

-he was not punished for equipment violation but something that the NFL determined to give a competitive advantage. And the 25k was a minimum punishment...not a standard thing. He was also punished for obstructing the investigation.

-agenda driven is your opinion...and its their report...for their use.

-again, not a fact...but rumor at best here on this supposed assurance.

-so you are claiming Brady and his team have lied about the phone yet again when they claimed it had been destroyed?

-the court...told both of them...and likely mostly towards the NFLPA for trying to collectively bargain through court rather than the process that has already been gone through.

Just more points showing how clueless some Pats fans are about actual facts of this.

Being told to stop doing something by the league and then continuing.

For the Saints...pretty important.

The Wells report does not cover the destruction of the cell phone.

Brady claimed he didn't destroy it?

BS...though, he and his agent have claimed multiple things about the phone. Yet you don't find them to be untrustworthy at all.

It is laughable. Pats fans listen to each other's excuses on sports talk radio up there and actually have themselves convinced that the league is out to get them. ROFL Goodell and Kraft were buddies. What the hell would Goodell gain by bringing them down?

NOt one Pats fans has stepped forward and swaid that they're pissed off at the organization because they're a great team and they don't have to keep doing this cheating to try to gain an unfair advantage. NOT ONE!! Instead, they get pissed at the people catching them doing it and penalizing them.

If he didn't destroy it, he should have no problem presenting it to prove that. But that won't happen. Because it's in a thousand pieces.

Edit: Maybe The Deflator got fat again and accidentally sat on the phone. Why didn't Tommy Pigtails think of that?

All one big conspiracy by Goodell.

To take down one of his biggest allies in ownership.

The team seen as a model franchise.

One of the top 2-3 if not the top golden boy in the league.

Yeah...that makes sense.

The Pats dynasty isn't as good as you would think it is. Not a lot of HOF'rs for a team with this much winning, played in lots of close games, lost lots of close games. They were really only a juggernaut once, and that crap division helped a lot. Maybe they think they did need an edge?

Oh wait...only one reason.

So basically...despite any complaint about the league you may have...deep down, you know the Pats are covering crap up because they did exactly what the league says they did.

Now that Brady's reputation is forever tarnished I think it's time to turn our attention to getting Roger either fired or in jail.

I don't get it either. Most fans think Rog is a pr!ck and can't stand him - but the owners love him.... And make no mistake about it - I'd be my left nut that more than a couple owners are happy as pig in shiat to see Bob Kraft and the Pats' taking it in the ass from the league.

This. Goodell isn't the only one sick and tired of Belichick's constant cheating and rule bending.

The NFL and NFLPA have asked the court for an expedited end to this.

There will be NO discovery.

They want it over before the season starts

That's good news for Brady. Keeps it cloudy for his blind homer fans. Doesn't reveal even more evidence of cheating and Belicheck skates.

While he was paid...he also served many more games last year and you are trying to compare on the field vs off the field suspensions.
