When that reporter (can't remember who, too lazy to research) came out with some Pat's fumbles analysis before the Wells report came out, he was ridiculed by most people, including some on this board, if I remember correctly. Now post-Wells report, suddenly people's perceptions of the laws of physics changes.

 

The analysis in the Wells report showed the volume change of a football is undetectable in the range of 10.5 - 13.5 psig (roughly, don't have the report in front of me), which means there would have to be an infintessimal difference in "squeeze" that the guy throwing the ball on a regular basis would notice. Catchability and "Hold-on-ability" would be much more affected by moisture, stickiness, etc, than a 0.5 - 1.0 psi deflation.

I've been in male dominated locker room type settings for most of my life. I've never heard of a fatty being called the "deflator". If someone had said that, they would be thought to be weird. I agree that it was Brady's idea. And his preference. But I'd have a hard time being convinced that Belichick was totally oblivious. I think he micromanages things and is aware of all that goes on. I certainly don't think he encouraged it, or cared either way. But I think he knew it was going on.

Yes, let's continue to talk about PSI and the difference it makes. Let's talk about the CBA, and how sh!tty Goodell is. Let's examine all the possible reasons why he would have destroyed his phone. Let's question whether the NFL should have had access to the phone. Let's talk about everything except what is real.

I agree Bill is a micromanager, and as such, he would want to be involved in the how, not just the what. I can't see him allowing such a lame-ass scheme knowing his future was dependent on these 2 jamokes. I'd be shocked if Bill knew anything about this, knowing it was only a matter of time before they'd get caught.

and one version of this claims they were suspended because the NFL offices asked NE to suspend them when the investigation started - Kraft begrudgingly agreed to it out of respect for the league and its investigation. The Patriots did not suspend these employees, they were asked by the NFL to suspend them.

And the employees then testified in the Wells report that they did not tamper with the balls - and the NFL office then edited the "independent" report to remove that part.

I think you're totally underestimating the advantage the underinflated balls give the Patriots. The fact that they didn't lose a single fumble by a running back last season (I believe I heard that stat when all this was coming to light), and that they lead the league in fewest fumbles as a team is HUGE. The turnover battle may be the biggest factor there is in determining wins and losses. Everyone keeps thinking this is limited to allowing Brady to have a better grip. That's only a part of it. Easier for his receivers to catch. Easier for the backs to hold on to...

because Roger Goodell is afraid of losing his job after a disastrous year as commissioner. He is trying to rehabilitate his image and re-establish himself as a powerful, respect commissioner. To do this, he levied an outrageous and unprecedented punishment on the team that may or may not have committed an equipment infraction.

Kraft, in an attempt to bring some sanity to it all and calm down the volatile commissioner, agreed to Goodell's outlandish requests because he had faith that a full investigation based on science and truth would make it clear how insignificant or non-existent any wrong doings were.

Instead, Goodell used Kraft/Brady/NE's cooperation to create media headlines and impose even harsher punishments beyond the already unprecedented punishments for something that may not have happened and even if it did happen is fairly insignificant.

Brady begins texting and calling him immediately after learning the league was wise to their deflating of balls. Six calls to the guy totally 60 minutes. Never once called the guy before.

Brady refuses to cooperate with league.

Brady's phone is mysteriously destroyed the day of his meeting with Wells.
