Taylor Swift - that b1tch can sell!

Recommended Posts

Cracked Rear View was released in 1995. That means he's been relevant for 20 years now. Brilliant the way he totally remarketed himself.

Nkotb are still touring too...

So is Tommy James. Anyone can tour. But can you still be relevant on the charts? That's something Rucker is doing.

Not a hater, but I think that just speaks to how low the bar has been set in country music these days.

To me, Darius Rucker could sing the phone book and I'd listen. He has a great voice.

Her target audience is teeny bopper girls, and like porkbutt and some others have said, parents like her cause she is pretty vanilla. Top 40 singles ain't what they used to be. I'm not against her, she's ok. My bet is she goes back to some country style in a few years.

I agree. She'll dominate the pop charts for another few years, then when her audience outgrows what she's doing, she'll return to country. I'd be willing toi bet that she's still popular in ten years.

I agree that right now her audience is teeny boppers..... But unlike Britney, Aguiliera, Shakira, Avril, Kesha, Miley, or pretty much anyone other female pop star of recent times, Taylor Swift's success isn't connected to sex appeal, partying, or dancing. If you are reliant on those attributes, you'll have a tough time maintaining your audience when you and that audience turn 30 years old.......But if your success is based on song writing, classiness, etc, then you've got a chance as those things never go out of style. Your audience can age with you, and still find those attributes worthy.

I'm bullish on her....I am predicting a Whitney Houston (pre coke) phase as America's sweetheart....Then family and kids, but she will come out the other side and have relevance into her 50's....like a much bigger Celine Dion or something. And I consider her good bet for a top 10 selling artist of all time.

She's at #16 already. At 25 years-old. Just amazing.

Can she make the transition to "adult" songwriting? Can she still write lyrics that connect with people after spending years and years in the fame bubble?

Guess we'll see.

A good relationship song gets across to any age.

She wrote Our Song at age 16. It went to number one on the country charts. Youngest songwriter/performer to ever do so. And country audiences aren't comprised of mostly teeny boppers.

It's been done to death. Joe Strummer said that in 1979. It was true then, and it's true now.

I know. But at a certain point it does become the same old boy meets girl, boy breaks girls heart yada yada. In can't stand modern popular country music because it's all the same, and the lyrics in the songs have so much woman worship going on in them. I prefer Rock Music, which is more about sex. You know, the good part.

She'll last until the next teeny bopper comes along. When do you think we will see her first "acting" role?

She's already had her first acting role. The movie Valentines Day.
