I don't get bumping this thread at all.  I didn't like Trump at first either, didn't vote for him in 2016.   I have done a complete 180 the past 3 and a half years.  

1.  We all knew the media was slanted left, but they took off their sheeps clothing now, don't even hide it anymore and its worse than I thought.  Way worse.

2.  The moderate left is dying.....BLM - AOC - Illegals - 5T Green New Deals - Trans dumbassery - late term abortion - SJW's - identity politics - corruption - riots with mayors doing nothing

I went from wanting a moderate Republican like a John Kasich or Mitt Romney because I thought they could bring people together....I was naive and I finally saw the light.  Trump its a bully and an arsehole, but policy wise he nails it most of the time and he doesn't take any shit.   I stopped worrying about feelings and tweets and other stuff that don't matter.

While Trump's policies may have been decent, did he do anything to bring people together?  Could anyone else bring people together?  I think Trump made things worse and now I don't know who's going to be able to fix it.

This is the conversation we needed to have in 2015.  Or 2016.  Or 2018.  Like, in my civil war thread.  Back then, we needed to sit down and start seriously discussing the threat of civil war and what compromises could be done to avert it.  Both sides think the other is racist and wants to silence the other side.  How do we resolve that?  We needed to approach both sides and explore what they willing to give up to ensure peace.  

Instead, I got attacked and mocked for bringing it up, or being falsely accused of wanting civil war. 

Here in December 2020, I think it is far, far too late to have that conversation.  I think civil war is inevitable now.  The opportunity was missed.

I don’t fault guys for changing their mind, it happens. Before Trump, politics was a rarer topic around here, confined to a few threads and guys entire personalities weren’t defined by their extreme partisanship. 
 

Also to the above, wars are fought on Twitter now, there will be no civil war of any kind. Trumpism will die down slowly and things will be like they were before pretty much.

Polling data shows trust in American institutions continues to fall.  We aren't going back to the way things were.
