People who said Jeremy hill would be a bust this year...

Recommended Posts

I like to think they've been saving his legs for the 2nd half push. His workload has been increasing and he has been on the field more on passing downs as well. It will always be a timeshare unless gio gets hurt but I think he's going to start trending upward. They are close to guaranteeing a playoff spot, and once they get to the position where they know they have a comfy lead in the division, they'll start getting a little less aggressive in the passing game and rely a little more on the ground game. At least this is what I am telling myself to justify me picking him in the first round.

If he can't get it going tonight against Cleveland then he will dwell on my bench for the remainder of the year!!

I was wrong...very wrong....Gio looks explosive while Hill looks pedestrian. At 9:49pm est I pronounce Jeremy Hill a BUST.

Bahahhaha! Proving again that Bernard is the only RB of value in that offense...

Focking Lewis rolling with Bernard in short yardage at the goal line. All 5'9" 205 lbs of him.

Hill fumbled on the play before. (Just after being tackled) Hill was obviously benched for the remainder of that series. They cut to him away from his position group and removing his helmet.

This isn't even close. Not sure why they'd ever remove Bernard from the game, other than the fact he can't handle the workhorse role.

Maybe they'll let Hill in the game for some garbage time mop up work.

3.5 YPC and a cloud of dust. I swear if Bernard was slightly bigger Hill wouldn't even be on the roster.

....were right. someone remind me next year to not buy into these 2nd half wonder guys. burned me 2 years in a row in the early rounds. go with proven talent that have done it for a full season or two with those first few rounds.

Youre not buying Tevin Coleman next year? :ninja:

now that we are all bailing on hill and rightfully so, this is when he will go off :dunno:

He's at a point where if he doesn't get TDs, he's useless. So in a ppr league there are going to be a lot of better options. Bengals have too many weapons, if he's not effective, they'll just keep him in for 3rd and shorts, until the get to the red zone when Gio will take over.

Trading Hill before the Cleveland game is a head scratcher. Have you not seen what RB are doing to their run defense. Hill looked good last week against a tough Pitt Run D. Starting him with supreme confidence this week, plus with Johnny Quaaludes in at QB Cinci should be Running a lot in the second half.

Good call. Can't believe I missed out on that juicy matchup.

If i had to choose between kicking Jeremy Hill as hard as i could in the nuts and kicking Jordan Matthews as hard as i could in the nuts., im not sure which i would choose to kick as hard as i could in the nuts. It would be a really hard decision. But either way, it would be soooooo satisfying.

Hill > Gio x 10

At this point this is just water off a ducks back. Doesnt even bother me anymore. Hill is JAG, hes a dude who plays football. Yes he had some nice games last year. so did Zac Stacy a few years ago and Tre mason last year.

He joins the long long list of over rated players going into a new season .

Wow talk about hindsight

....or maybe it was foresight since I traded him before he shat the bed in a cushy matchup.

Guess we will never know

Bengals winning the whole game, low ranked rush defense, Bengals ran it alot. If Hill cant prosper in that perfect storm, theres something wrong. Yes its the useage of Gio, but get used to it.

Not making a trade based on hoping for 1 game of production is short sighted. That matchup will give the Hill tradee the warm tingles...I don't care about that. I need consistent touches for the rest of the year.

....he prob will score 100/2 this week...and if he can't in this matchup then my chance at that trade was gone.

since you said this we know it's hindsight

Jeremy Hill is 23 years old and has a 4.5 YPC average, 15 TDs in 326 rushing attempts and 250 yards on 32 receptions. For laughs, look up the YPC average and rushing statistics for the first 300 carries of guys like LT, Emmitt Smith and Edge.

While Hill has thus far certainly underperformed his draft position, he's still the 18th ranked RB (based primarily on two strong weeks). He was a monster from this point on last year. While it appears likely he will not replicate that run, for perspective, let's take a look at what his competition did. The top 15 RB by ADP:

AP 1

Bell 2

Lacy 3

Charles 4

Lynch 5

Forte 9

CJ Anderson 10

Murray 11

Hill 15

McCoy 19

Forsett 23

Miller 26

Ingram 28

Gore 31

Morris 36

Thus far this season (just halfway) I see 2, maybe 3 running backs drafted ahead of him I'd be stoked to have on my roster instead. And 2, possibly 3 that I'd rather have rostered right now who were drafted within 20 picks of him. My point – is that unless you drafted 1 or 2 of the aforementioned other guys on that list during the first three rounds (congrats, you are probably cruising and not reading this!), you still have a very viable horse in the race.

We're halfway through the season and complaining about a busted first or second round running back on a first place, cold weather playoff team with a bomb O'line is about as dumb as anyone who is convinced a guy like Langford, Darkwa or Cobb will suddenly shift the tide of their season. Yea, I would be absolutely stoked to have taken say Beckham at the turn instead, but Hill has contributed (or will contribute) far more to my season then can be said for over half of that list.

Solid post. I expect Beast Mode to kick into high gear for Seattle's playoff run. That line isn't protecting Wilson, but it's opening some holes in the run game. And Lynch isn't done just yet.

I'm high Langford, and certain we'll see a new thread on him tonight.

I don't know why but hills performance Thursday night was 1 of the biggest gut punches I have taken in 20+ years of fantasy football. I really thought he would break out vs 32nd ranked run def. oh well

Fantasy Football can be a cruel thing sometimes. Ha

Debate is over, Gio is the more versatile guy but would get hurt if they overworked him, there is no debate really, in any 1/2 or full PPR league, Gio is outscoring Hill. Hill is just there to eat up short yardage carries.

My yelling at the TV this week turned from a lot of "Why aren't you using Hill more!?!?" to "Gio, stop being better than Hill!!!"

I have him because I kept him, because he and Foster made the most sense from last year's team for RBs. Although, I just looked back at my final roster from last year. RBs: Foster, Hill, Asiata, Sankey...Doug Martin. :( That would have been nice. Anyway, I'm holding, because he has zero trade value right now, and there's no way anyone on waivers is better. White/Boldin? No thanks So..Hill stays, and he sits. Maybe someone will get desperate and offer a couple of Snickers and a Coke for him.

It's sad because during my draft, I really wanted to target Hill, and I was pissed as both times he went about 2 spots before I was up. Later in the draft I get Gio thinking..."Ahh well, maybe Hill will get hurt and Gio will have some value".

Go figure, he had all the pieces in place to have a great year, but just isn't getting it done.

I stole Hill late in rnd 2 after taking Lynch. Was set to take a wr there as usual but couldnt pass up the value of an RB like Hill there.

And this last week really was good evidence of the problem. Was it the Oline, I was wondering? Then Gio would tear off a 12 yard run. Nope, not the Oline.

A lot of Gio's yards are swing passes and runs to the outside are they not? Gio is a shiftier runner and probably better at making a cut to get some open space. I don't watch Cincy enough to know exactly why Hill isn't living up to expectations.

Now that Lewis is done for the season Hill will have to be one of only two RB's I have (Latavius being the other) in the push for the playoffs.

He needs more work ie 25 touches

Which he will not get because Gio is a really good back also.

What stinks for hill owners is Gio would come in on passing downs on Hills drives, But Hill would not come in on the Goaline on Gio's drives. Which Gio didn't convert either

I am seriously considering playing Charles Sims in ppr vs the Cryboys instead of Hill vs Texans

Interesting. I know I've seen Gio rip off some big runs when he hits the open field.

Maybe Hill is a workhorse who needs those 20+ carries to get that big run. I heard he is in and out of the doghouse with coaches because of ball control (fumbling) issues. He fumbled again last week, but it wasn't lost so didn't show up in the stats.

I confess, I only see highlights of Cincy games, and usually it seems to be Gio making the highlight plays, never Hill.

What's Hill like on Blocking assignments? What's he like catching passes out of the backfield?
