Do you believe in an Afterlife?

Recommended Posts

I believe God sat around playing with dinosaurs and doing nothing for 4.5 billion years, only to randomly spawn people 8000 years ago. Then he got bored one day and killed all but 8 and some llamas. Then he sent his only son to die, so we can go to heaven 2000 years later. We are so important.

If you truly have no idea, shouldn't you do your damnedest to sample every religion, and lack thereof?

I still won't know for sure then either. I might 'believe' I know the answer to life's biggest questions. But that will be based on faith and thinking I know the answer.

There really is no difference between all the religions and atheism. Each of you 'think' you know the answer, have faith you know, believe you know. Which is fine, but the actual answer is we have no idea.

So how can I tell somebody else they are wrong? I don't.

You are right of course. That's why I call myself an agnostic. I don't know.

But Christianity just doesn't come close to passing the smell test. I don't "KNOW" it's bullsh!t, but I'm extremely confident it is.

That's why I donate money to the Mormons, Bhuddists, Muslims (both Shia and Sunni), Scientologists, Sikhs, Zoroasterans, Jewish temples, Hindus, and all the Christian denominations within driving distance. I want to play it safe just like you say.

You forgot the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Don't you want to enjoy the beer volcano in the afterlife?

There is only one true religion!!! The one that starts kids drinking and gambling at 9 years old. If they are doing that sh!t here can you imagine the afterlife?  :music_guitarred:

So we can't tell Muslim suicide bombers they're wrong anymore? :(

They are wrong for hurting others and blowing up people and all that jazz and hijacking the religion to commit heinous acts, yes.

I'm not going to walk up to Kareem Abdul Jabbar and tell him his faith is "false" and he's an idiot and drop some tantastic truth bombs on him though.

But you knew that already.

How did the hijack it when they are doing as they are told? Seems to me they are practicing it.

So you can't tell people their religion is wrong, except when you can. Got it. Clear as mud.

Are purposely being obtuse? Seems weird. I pegged you differently.

You know what, I'm bowing out. I see the religious zealots are arguing with the atheist zealots.

Westboro types versus tanatastic types.

I don't want to be associated with either. C ya.

I don't believe I am at all. I'm just reading what you said.

You stated this standard that you have no right to question people's religious views or tell them they're wrong because you don't possess any absolute truth. Is that not a fair summation?

And yet you pronounce this one religious group "wrong", based on what exactly? Maybe Allah is the one God and this is the one correct form of worship, to try and stamp out all infidels. You don't "know" otherwise. Don't call me obtuse because you painted yourself into a corner. :dunno:

Also, I'm outty. I probably just made several terrorism watch lists with this post. :ninja:

Where are you seeing religious zealots? Seems like religion is pretty much getting its hat handed to it in this thread. :shocking:

Funny, I just thought the exact same thing. :shocking:

What are you wearing?

This is moving a little too fast for me.

I have a friend that is a psychic medium. She has helped police departments find people who were in danger. In one case, the only information she asked for was a first name. they told her and she pointed in the direction to find her and said "About 20 miles, next to the number 12." They went out that way and found a 12 mile marker. Went into the woods and found the girl. It froze out there, later that night and the girl probably would have died.

One time my friend texted me and said she thought she had a message for me. It took awhile to figure out, but it was my aunt. She gave me my aunts appearance and things she said. She said my aunt wanted me to know that she was there for me. My aunt bought me lots of expensive books about nature when I was a child and it really helped form my life.

I've had my own personal experiences. You can't destroy energy that is the soul at the very least. As to whether there is an afterlife as in another life after this, who knows.

I'm respectful of other people's beliefs in real life. I won't tell my obsessed mother in law that everything she bases her life on is a fairy tale. I don't need to convince anyone because it's an argument I can't win despite holding every shred of possible evidence and armed with inarguable fact and data.

That's just religion tho. As far as life after death there's really no way to know. Just like there's no way to know we aren't in the matrix made by elves and giant magic robots. I have no facts to support that giant magic robots don't in fact control the universe so I guess it's possible.
