IGotWorms 4,058 Posted August 4, 2016 excellent post wiffle. you nailed it. it's been the same issue from the beginning... any guy who has to proclaim, "I'm going to be VERY presidential" while running for president - just isn't the right person for the job. Trump has been good for the process. He's kicked the bees nest in a way that only he can AND in some ways it needed to be done. But he's not the answer, he's not a statesman - he's not a man of "service" - he's a born-into-wealth, business tycoon that's been able to do and say whatever he wants his whole life without repercussions. How has he been good for the process? I'm searching for a silver lining but I'm not seeing one.
Hardcore troubadour 15,506 Posted August 4, 2016 How has he been good for the process? I'm searching for a silver lining but I'm not seeing one. The republicans are shifting, at least on the surface, to a more populist party. They are going after working class people with more than guns and religion, actually addressing things like trade. Hey, it's something.
Willis McGahee's Dentist 61 Posted August 4, 2016 How has he been good for the process? I'm searching for a silver lining but I'm not seeing one. It's good because someone has kicked back against the party leaders and the establishment. In general, it's always a good thing when the voice of the people is heard. The problem is, the people were so set on saying 'F-U' to the establishment that they stopped caring about things like ethics and morals and grace and kindness. The theory is a good one. But it also matters who you have representing your movement. Most of the true gung-ho Trump nuts on my Facebook are trailer parkish types that would support Hitler if he said that white males will rule everyone else. But I do have a few friends who are actually intelligent, nice people who are supporting Trump. It absolutely blows my mind. If a guy like Trump was running his mouth at a local park, those very friends would be yelling and trying to drown out his bigotry and hate. But because they are so anti-Democrat, they stand behind this ass hole. And that's definitely not a good thing for our process.

Sho Nuff 720 Posted August 4, 2016 Question... How is a racist, misogynist, gloom and doom blowhard, who seems to know noting about global economics, foreign policy, etc. better then a shrilly beyatch who knows a ton about all of that? Because of the letter that is next to their name.

His lack of knowledge about the world and how it works is frightening. The guy who tells us how safe we're all going to be and how he wants to break away from NATO doesn't even know that Russia has already invaded the Ukraine! Most seventh graders know that! Yeah, but the party is actually shifting. Nobody talked about trade like Trump has, except Bernie. Hillary was (is) for the trade deals, until she heard from the unions and the Berners. Hillary was (is) for the trade deals, until she heard from the unions and the Berners. I don't give Trump credit for bringing up trade if he addresses it in the dumbest way imaginable and if he himself weren't personally responsible for outsourcing the jobs he claims to want to bring back. Hillary was (is) for the trade deals, until she heard from the unions and the Berners. I honestly don't get the anti free trade thing. Was one of my biggest bones to pick with Bernie, actually. The years of tariffs, economic isolationism, etc. are over. The question is are you in the driver's seat with things like the TPP or do you let someone else take the wheel? I think letting China or Russia take front seat on trade is a terrible idea.

I think letting China or Russia take front seat on trade is a terrible idea. What it boils down to are two things: Capital will just seek out lower costs(wages) and we cant compete there. Race to the bottom. The other big problem is that disputes between multi-nationals will be decided by an independent tribunal. They won't be accountable to sovereign governments. No regulation, and no legal recourse within the governments in the trade agreements. BP spills oil? Can't sue in the U.S., has to go to the body that is put in place. Why can't that be the result instead of a race to the bottom? Well, you're preaching supply side, tickle down then. Hasn't worked. You're right though, this is all about China and Russia, but these trade deals are just way too lopsided in favor of multi nationals. If you ask me, I think Russia amd China's methods are not sustainable. China will have a cultural shift at some point, you can't keep that many people down forever. And Russia is all about oil, something that should have decreasing importance as time goes on. I don't think we have to give everything away today. And also, these will not just be manufacturing jobs going out the window. Technology makes labor markets elsewhere much more viable, and the multis know this. Teach your kids another language, a useful one. I will.

cyclone24 1,914 Posted August 4, 2016 Haven't checked on this thread in a while. The best way I can sum up this thread visually is essentially the same five liberals all standing in a circle. Each one is taking their right hand and jerking off the person to the right of them and then with their left hand is patting the one on the left saying "effing Trump huh?" Just over and over again. Sinners.
